SHOULD I PIONEER OR COLLEGE?

do you think the wt has become more lenient or stricter over the year?.

i am 21 and i remember just 4 years ago going to college was looked at as something negative.

girls my age, we had plans to be ft pioneers and become secretaries.

You're 21, you can take all the time you want but you will probably still get your degree when you're 25 or so.

I used to pioneer and was told the end was coming so not to bother with college, so here I am 30 years old and I hope to be finished with my degree in Business Administration when I'm 32 yoa, but I always think AT LEAST I'M GOING! At least I will get my degree, at least I will have a job... unlike the people who are still working menial jobs and pioneering thinking the end is around the corner.

We all have to face reality that we have to support ourselves, when you get to my age and turn 30 you will think about buying a house and trust me the pioneering business isn't that lucrative that you're going to get a house out of the deal.

Keep taking classes, something will inspire you and you'll figure it all out. Just keep going!

After my un-DF'ing, I have sent a letter to everyone in my hall.

in the final installment of my story, i am done with my local congregation now.

in the past month, i have been df'd, un-df'd attended a meeting where i shook everyones hand and smiled ... and now i have sent everyone in the hall this letter, roughly 60 addresses:.

I love the letter, it's to the point without sounding too emotional or like you've lost your mind. I remember years ago a pioneer sent out a letter but hers was wayyyy crazy sounding and the elders called everyone and told them NOT to even open the letter, to destroy it before they opened it. She was DF'd that coming Thurs. It was quite sad.

But your letter is GREAT... I'm really proud of you!

For some reason I don't think this is what the average teenager or young adult is looking for on the internet.

Honestly at that age I could care less about the issues, I was looking at the other banned things in my world, MTV, singers, bands, pop culture, guys, dating, etc..... If I had free time, the last thing I wanted to do was spend more time reading JW crap.

i think he would quote people by saying "for just as you have written...".

then he would start with "truly i tell you today...".

and then come out with amazing, profound yet completely vague reference such as "for by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned".

I think he would hang out with us just like he hung out with the harlots, drinkers, thieves, basically the fun people.

I doubt he'd be caught dead hanging out with JWs.

what would you do in this situation?.

the wife and i are heading to cancun next wednesday for a week.

a younger sister from the hall will be house sitting for us during our trip.

This is hilarious! Because this happened to me 2 weeks ago.

I am DF'd but there are certain people that don't seem to care, anyways.... a baptized 21 yoa JW was going to house-sit for us when we went on our big 8-day vacation. She could have cared less that I was DF'd, came over, talked, we actually went to lunch, etc.... we give her the keys to our house. When we got back the house was in perfect shape, very clean, no complaints from us. Then the neighbors find us and all our neighbors came to us to complain. Evidently it was PARTY CENTRAL while we were gone. They said almost every day there were 2-3 cars in our driveway but over Labor Day weekend she literally had cars lined up all the way up and down the streets and this was all day, all night, for Sat, Sun, Mon. The parties would last till 3am.

Anyhow, my point is........... you never know how you can trust. Although our house was clean when we returned and although nothing was broken or stolen, unfortunatly she can't housesit again. He Dad was an elder, her mother used to be a pioneer, she's supposed to be on the up-and-up but who knows.

he was a real rebel, he called the religious leaders out, he walked into the temple and actually overturned tables, he exposed their hypocrisy, he hung out with sinners, he didn't buy into the "organization" he basically walked around and talked to whoever whenever.

he never built a chuch, he never collected donations, he just preached what he believed to be the truth in a time when the religious leaders were more concerned with status and tradtitions.

if you look up apostacy in the dictionary the definition is: "renunciation of a religious faith, abandonment of a previous loyalty" it never says you automatically become a devil worshipper or anything scary or evil... just reject a teaching or a loyalty (to an organization.

My point was Jesus rebelled against the organized religion of his day, the religion of his countrymen, the religion of his parents, etc. Instead of obediently going to the synagogue and nodding his head, he actually took a stand, said something about it, and lived a different life.

I am sure if they had formal disfellowshipping, they would have surely DF'd him. He was eroding their power and control over the people because Jesus preached the real truth, most of which was common sense, a voice the people hadn't heard in a long time.

Black vs white families - do they treat DF'ing differently?

i know of someone that is a disfellowshipped black jw that has been df'd for 11 years.

anyways, found out his mother never shunned him.

I know of someone that is a disfellowshipped black JW that has been DF'd for 11 years. Anyways, found out his mother never shunned him. Never quit associating with him, never gave him a hard time, nothing. She's a devout practising JW and just never bought into abandoning her children.

He said that it was different in the black community, he said the black families were much closer and didn't let the organization come between them and their families like the white families.

I never really thought about it but I do remember a few families with wordly kids and they always had them around for dinners, etc. Do you think it's any different? I think about the South American latin families and how close they are .... I can't imagine shunning actually being practised by some of those families.

I absolutely believed it. I was born in 1974 and lived my life counting those "70 or 80 years" from 1914 forward.

I wasn't supposed to graduate from high school, I wasn't supposed to get a job.

I'm 30, thankfully I left when I was 19-20 yoa and I have a life, a job, an education, and planning a retirement.... I quit actually believing it sometime around 1993 or 1994. It just didn't happen.
