The DAY AFTER [Dateline]
by biblexaminer inwhat will happen the day after?.
i have a recent personal experience from "field service" that may shed a little light on this subject.. first, i do believe that many of my "bros and sises" will see this.
they are all dateline watchers, and just knowing their personalities, if they are able, they will watch.. will they talk about it amongst themselves?

I think most JW's today are sick of the little "secret" manuals. I remember when I was told I couldn't borrow a sister's pioneer book because I had never pioneered. And I remember when I was told that when my husband was appointed an elder, he had to hide his book. I KNEW (and I mean beyond a doubt) that I absolutely WOULD take a look at whatever book I wanted in the privacy of my own home.
If the WTS tells the JW's not to see the Dateline show, it is like guaranteeing the majority of them WILL SEE IT. The more they prohibit, the more the JW's rebel. At least the younger generation and the teenagers - which will mean less baptisms in the future. Don't you remember how many rated R movies you watched as JW's. I watched whatever I wanted and just didn't tell anyone. If it wasn't in the Bible, I didn't listen. But that was just the way I have always been. And all those elders getting kids in trouble for watching rated R's were sitting home watching them too!
A good point was brought up about the English speaking US people already being a dead end. Wish Dateline could be shown in Spanish too. Maybe someone like Cristina would be interested in a follow-up in Spanish. I think I might write her and give her the heads up about Dateline.

Farkel Hits the Bread Line
by Farkel ini had a very positive experience today which maybe not-so-coincidentally coincided with my recent comments on matthew 25.. it was only my second personal experience with babylon the grape in my entire life.
my first was when one of my daughters got married in a catholic church over three years ago.
i actually sat inside the catholic chapel and watched her priest perform the ceremony.

Great follow-up post, Farkel. The pastor across the street from us has a "soup-kitchen" every thursday in front of his house. We get all types coming through the neighborhood on that night. I've donated stuff to his charity myself and he's sent yogurts and perishables which were left over to us. All in all, I think the way we see Matthew 25 resembles Christianity more than the WTS distortion. In several books I've read about the rise of Christianity, one of the things regularly mentioned is the care the Christians gave even to pagans. It really made them stand out. Many people were converted out of Christian acts of charity. And I believe that the early Christians who understood the writings in their native tongue (Koine) would definitely know how Matthew 25 was to be understood. How rediculous it is for the WTS to teach that they know better than the early Christians themselves.
But ... how many people would be attracted to the JW religoin if they really were Christ-like? They shoot themselves in the foot with their interpretation of Matthew 25. Just think, people will soon begin leaving in droves and there will be no new ones to replace them. I give them "one generation." And they have nobody to blame but themselves.

More Bethelite Table Crumbs Please!
by MadApostate inin a controversial post in a separate thread, janh makes an extremely good observation that a certain former gb member will likely carry many, many wts "top secrets" to his grave, for whatever reasons he does not wish to divulge such.. then, on this db, former bethelites constantly exchange posts where their word choice is "cloaked" so that many of us who were not insiders are left guessing at meaning, people, etc.
obviously, even individual members of this fraternity have unique experiences and insights.
if such info is not disseminated, it is lost if that person dies naturally or in an accident.. would you folks please post more elaborately so that the rest of us can benefit from your knowledge and experience.. the statement that motivated this post made a silent reference to the author of the happiness book.

My sister met some members of the Costa Rican branch a few months ago. She came bragging to our "worldly" family how much the Costa Rican congregations are growing. In fact, she said they encouraged her to apply for branch service there since she is a college graduate, etc. and teaches ESL, they felt she could be useful in interpreting. She also said they were building 100 new kingdumb hells. She was pretty excited about this. I thought it was BS. I also thought they were BSing her as well. Why would they need college educated interpreters in CR?

Not that my opinion will be all that important since I am not that important here, but I do see the clique thing. On the other hand, I don't give a rat's behind if I'm in the "clique" or not. What I do know is that the WTS must be overjoyed when they read this thread. Especially since we all know how much they must hate Max. They are probably thrilled that he is getting this crap dished at him. So I just say that those who want to be in a clique have the right to do so and those of us who don't like it need to GET OVER IT! In the end, what's important? Isn't it MOST important to successfully and legally beat the sh*t out of the Watchtower and teach them a good, hard lesson! I for one am looking forward to seeing them squirm!

Maximus: the letter says, the elders should advise "...the complainant that the congregation cannot take over the God-given responsibility of the ‘superior authorities’ in dealing with crime. Accordingly, the complainant should consider his or her responsibility to report the matter to the authorities without delay."
And then only AFTER this is done, they should contact the Legal Department. So they recognize the seriousness of the accusation of pedophilia and want swift action.
The thing I can't figure out is who originated the Brittish policy? Was the branch acting on its own initiative? Since I don't know the answer to this question, I am thinking the Brittish branch wanted legal contacted only *after* the "superior authorities" had been contacted so that legal couldn't impede this from being done. Which would show how adamant legal must have been NOT to contact the police, etc.
Or if the GB *really* is guilty of having two differing policies - and I don't understand what their motives would be for doing so. Why the preference for the Brittish children? What is it about the US that *allowed* them to sweep pedophilia under the rug? And you mentioned France. What is the policy in France? Is it the same as in Brittain? Or what about the rest of the world, for that matter?
Fifty gazillion questions keep running through my poor tired head. I am exhausted from work, insomnia and a medical condition I just found out I had. It's hard to keep up. But I get up sometimes at 2:00 AM, not being able to sleep to see if I've missed something.
Please continue to keep us informed.

Mommie Dark: "Giddy" is the word!!! I get giddy imagining late night talk-shows all over the US cracking jokes about JW's.
This is really panning out! I've been waiting for this for a whole year since Farkel first mentioned the "big thing" on old H2O. Thanks to people like Barbara Anderson, Bill Bowen, Maximus and I'm sure many others (especially all the silentlambs who are getting braver and braver).
I love it when people say, "Run Watchtower Run"
I say, "Sweat Watchtower Sweat!"
