I bought one and it is sitting in my garage collecting dust. I think it would be great for someone who is thin and just wants to tone up but I prefer swimming so I don't even use it.

An Explanation of why TIME TRAVEL does not work

energy and matter are neither created nor destroyed.. consequently, the building blocks of existence are actually finite parts.. to create things in "tomorrow" which are new, something has to be dismantled to leave spare parts for tomorrow's new thing.. the old thing deteriorates, (dies/disintegrates) and the parts become available to make the new thing.. time travel requires going to a place where today's parts are available to be rearranged.. some of today's things persist as they are, of course.

they only travel through time by persisting as they are.

(mountains, for example.).

Totally!!! It's the same with saying I'm a Christian. It's almost an embarassment with all the crap that Christians do. It's very hard for me to state my position. I believe but I don't fall into any box. And I am not a better person because of my belief. It's just my way of understanding things. Nothing more, nothing less. Christianity is also a cultural thing.

Think of it this way. You lose your car keys. How long will you search for them? Certainly you'll continue to seach until YOU FIND them!

Actually, I DID lose my car keys once. I searched everywhere (or thought I did). Eventually, I gave up, thinking I must have thrown them out in the trash or something. They seemed to have disappeared into thin air. Then a whole year later I used a sweater I hadn't used in an entire year and low and behold the keys were in the pocket of that sweater. The answer was found!!!

I think you think I employ stop-think when I don't. I'm not into physics at all. In fact a lot of this thread just went over my head. I'm sure I could force myself to understand it but it bores me to death. And I'm sure I'm not alone here either.

The point is I know there are answers out there and someday people a lot smarter than I am (physicists, scientists ....) will find those answers. But probably not in my lifetime. And if so, then I'll be glad. the more we know the better. For me, believing in God doesn't put me in a corner. I continue to accept facts and data and learn. But there IS empty space of unknown.

So if I want to call the empty hole of the unknown God, who cares? I know it's my opinion. And it doesn't mean I am hoping beyond all hope that no one finds any answers so I can keep believing in God. It's the exact opposite of that, actually.

In logic there are Fallacies.
One of the fallacies is called the Argument from Ignorance.
What it addresses is coming to conclusions based...not on what we do know, but, on what we do not know.
If something is unknown or ill-defined ti is automatically mysterious.
This, however, is not a very good basis for inserting God into the empty hole.
Using our mind to understand our mind is like trying to lift ourselves up by pulling hard on our bootstraps.
If we make a list of the things we don't know and add them up we cannot simply shout: THIS MUST MEAN GOD!

So what? It's a matter of semantics. If I want to call it God then who cares? If I want to call it a soul then who cares? I could call it a soul and God and you could call it the empty hole of the unknown.

Using my mind to understand my mind? What else am I supposed to use? What do scientists use? What are you using? Are you suggesting we NOT try to understand what our mind is?

Okay, but what about "outside of time"? And if we are all made up of matter or a different set of atoms from the time we were 12 for instance, then what is our mind? If it is part of our brain then how do we have memory when each cell and atom dies or becomes something else? How does our memory stay in tact if it is made up of entirely new cells and atoms? So what if outside of time, our memories do exist as a soul?

This is what makes me believe in God and the soul. I'm not dogmatic about my belief but I DO believe it because I haven't experienced an alternative explanation that makes sense to me.
