Regional Building Committee decisions boggles even a dubs mind...
by undercover inso i'm talking to someone from my old hall and he tells me that there are some disgruntled jws (including elders) who feel like some bad decisions are being made by the rbc.. for instance, one hall needed a new roof.
an elder, in the construction business, made a deal with a local non-jw roofer that if the brothers cleared off the old shingles, the roofer would come in with his crew and do the new roof for x amount of dollars.
the rbc elder in charge got wind of that arrangement and nixed the deal.

Does this same RBC take charge when it comes to disaster areas, i.e., Katrina/New Orleans?
If so, they probably jump for joy whenever a disaster happens. Just continual business for them.
And I know an high and mighty elder in the Chino Hills congregation who owns a landscaping business. He has always had the $$$$ and so do all the other elders involved in construction trades, come to think of it.
These guys were involved in the Mira Loma California building. Hmmmmm ... the light just came on for me!

This makes me sick. It is just a reminder to keep my son away from my mother in law's grips! Just this week she gave him a book of bible stories. He's only just shy of 5.
We were in dire straights and needed a babysitter Monday so my husband dropped him off at his mom's against my wishes. This was the first and only time she's ever babysat for us.
Sure enough she took him out in service, on a bible study and to the kingdom hall while she did phone witnessing.
My son came home and said, "My grandma's a nice lady. She gave me this book about Jesus!"
The book somehow mysteriously made its way to the trash can!

we had an elder that molested his daughter's best friend when she was 14 years old.
the elders in the congregation tried to keep the matter quiet and handled the matter privately.

Unfortunately for the BOE, he did not stop the hanky and the panky, and it became a local scandal. Both of them were disfellowshipped, he got divorced from his wife, and married the girl when she was legally old enough.
Did this happen in California? I heard of a similar case. The elder was apparently peeking through a peep hole when the girl undressed ... drugging his wife so she'd be delirious ...
I knew of an MS who had several instances of molestation against him. He first molested a teenager then years later it was discovered he was molesting his wife's niece who was living with them. Eventually he did get disfellowshipped but no legal action was taken against him.
I also know of an elder who was disfellowshipped for molesting several young girls. He moved away and got reinstated. No legal action yet again.

Why do they need to be a corporation?

Exactly my point.
Corporations in the business world shield individuals from personal responsibility for the actions of the corporation. But at the same time, they are required by law to have the best interests of the corporation in mind with any decisions they make.
In other words, there is a conflict of interest because religions are supposed to have the social interests in mind of individuals, as opposed to existing for the purpose of making money. Being a religion AND a corporation is a conflict of interest.
Thus, I tend to believe that the shareholders must make money somehow. Otherwise, why incorporate?
