JWD a Dysfunctional Place?
by Victor_E inwith the recent blood baths we have seen in this forum it got me wondering of how you can objectively understand it and more importantly not let it affect you if you so choose.
what i write is not meant to be taken as gospel truth since there is no gospel truth nor is it my intention to get on my soap box since i left it when i walked out of the kingdom hall.
most of what i have to say is subjective based on personal experience and i feel no need or desire to debate anyone about anything i write.

You think this is dysfunctional? You should have been here in the past.....
This is a quiet time compared.

Baptized pre 25 years old
by Fadeaway1962 insaw this on the bbc and thought you should see it:is 25 the new cut-off point for adulthood?
i was baptized in my early 20s so now realize was too young mentally to understand the full impact of that decision and the long term impact on my life.. the org should stop putting pressure on young ones to get baptized..

Studies such as this could have a profound effect on the way in which society treats young people. It is saying that our brains are not fully developed until we are 25- 30.
So should we allow younger ones to marry? Drive on the roads ? Send them to war? What about the call, by some, to lower the voting age to 16?
This is exactly what have other septuagerians say about youth culture and the fondness of society to favour youth.
NB .. to follow the o/p point.... I cannot see the WTS changing their attitude toward youth baptism. They need all the numbers they can get and have no regard for the ones who regret it later.

Public Talk Outlines!
by Atlantis incurrent public talk outlines.
blank page between each talk.. .

Browsing through it is evident that, whatever the theme, they all follow the same pattern.
A few minutes setting out the subject, a few more applying that subject to life today ...then the body of it telling the audience what they have to do. Whatever the theme is the talk is always saying pray hard, keep busy, follow directions, be good and gain life in paradise....
You could mix and match and nobody would notice.

May 2020 Watchtower They Admit, they don't know
by Listener inthey'll write pages and pages of stuff and yet they don't have any idea.. here's a paragraph from their latest speculations on future events, bolding is mine.. a prophecy recorded by ezekiel gives some insight into what may happen during the last days of the king of the north and the king of the south.
if we view the prophecies of ezekiel 38:10-23; daniel 2:43-45; 11:44–12:1; and revelation 16:13-16, 21 as speaking about the same time period and events, it appears that we can expect the following developments.. that's an awful lot of assumptions to make.
what they've done is picked out various scriptures from different parts of the bible and now state that they may or may not be talking about the same events.

The time was when I could tell you all about how the activities of Elijah and Elisha prefigured in prophetic pattern the activities of the anointed J W’s at different periods in their history. We spent weeks on end studying how the work of Jeremiah and assistant Baruch also prefigured the “ministry” of twentieth century....
What a waste of time that was! .....only to be told by the same book publishers in recent times that it was all B/S. ....if I hadn’t worked that out for myself. 🤔

Plenty of mileage in this issue for debate. One fundamental point is .... What is this Anglo American World Power ? Do you see it in the news? Do the two nations act together as one?
There may have been a duality during World Wars One and Two, but since then I cannot see it. A few points off the top of my head :
They did unite militarily to invade Iraq, although a lot of Brits were against the action.
They are both in NATO and they do have a “special relationship “ , but this does not stop disagreements
They cannot agree on the deportation of wanted suspects of crimes
There is not a special trade agreement in place , although this has been suggested, post Brexit.
Most citizens of Both Britain and the USA would be annoyed at the suggestion that they were merely a part of the other’s world power.
I have not seen any references to the existence of such a thing apart from the WTS. I contend that it does not exist and has not existed since at least 1945 .....

"I know so many who would go to the BS chiropractor. This quackery does not only mean cracking bones it gets into Kinesiology which is crazy ass BS. Acupuncture which I always found funny because its a Chinese spiritual load of crap. I went with several JWs in the 70s to a chiropractor who would prescribe drinking a quart of salt water to crap your guts out and do enemas. It was supposed to detoxify"
I once knew a "sister" who was a qualified kinesiology practitioner . The Wt published an article saying that it was dubious and maybe demonic. Overnight her client base among the dubs plummeted. She rebuilt her business though. Her elders never called her out.
Personally I have had acupuncture. It did nothing for me but what I had was not "spiritual". Wife and I regulayly have chiropractic treatment, nothing wrong in bone adjustment. That has done us good.
There are loads of people spending shedloads of money on health foods and off-book treatments ,not just dubs . Certainly, in the past at least, they were susceptible to it due to a miss trust of mainstream medicine ,sparked by the blood issue.

Hello Trolley JW's...
by The Fall Guy in...at 1 peter 3:15 it says that if someone asks a christian about their christian hope, they should always be ready to explain it - with mildness & deep respect.
may i ask you about just one belief which jw's have?.
jw's have been instructed that god & jesus personally selected mr. rutherford and several of his associates as the first 'faithful slave' 101 dalmations years ago, in 1919. .
-
BluesBrother
Who is this Mr. Rutherford that you speak of?
That is so much the response that you will get from modern, young JWs. For them their "theocratic history " began in yr 2000 , being the year that the online library was began. Anything prior to that is dead history and irrelevant.

Evil Wind Chimes
by Sea Breeze ini remember going door to door in the late 60's with my mother as a 5 or 6 year old.
one time she caught me looking at the wind chimes on a porch.
she told me they had pagan origins, were evil, and were somehow connected to demons.
-
BluesBrother
I used to avoid wind chimes because they had a pagan origin............Now I avoid wind chimes because they are an irritating nuisance once the novelty has wirn off. A past neighbour had one once....drove me nuts going tinkle tinke all day

The older you get in life, the closer you are to dying. Even old dubs now recognize that . The concept of living forever without experiencing death has now disappeared, except for the young.
What happens at death, where do we go? Nobody knows . Shakespeare called it the "undiscovered country" ((Hamlet).. 400 years later we know no more.
In my later years now, is dearh to be feared? No... I don't want to linger into a lonely, painful miserable old age. Lets go while life is still enjoyable.
Yes , we myst try to enjoy every day that God gives us , before:
" The silver cord is removed and the golden bowl is crushed.................then the dust returns to the earth, just as it happened to be" . Ecclesiastes 12.
