  Reproof announcement wording.

  hey, all.

  i had an old memory pop into my head today about an oddly worded announcement made by an elder at a meeting back when i was a bible study.

  i couldn't find anything in the wol nor on google about it, so i wondered if this was just some rogue one-off, or if this is the way things used to be announced.

  Watchtower looses Norwegian Appeal

  watchtower has just lost its appeal in the norwegian courts over the withdrawal of the funding it receives from the government as an officially recognised religion.

  the initial decision will now stand due to what the court termed 'exclusionary practices' which includes the witnesses barbaric practice of shunning minors, even by family members in their own homes.

  the ministry of children and families have decided they are now no longer eligible for the state grant of 16 million norwegian kroner given to officially recognised religions.. the following is a statement has been issued, i have summarised if it isn't readable: .

  The U K gives charitable status to organisations simply for being a religion. I get that religion does often make its members better people, but in today’s secular world this really is an anachronism that should be done away with

  dec. 7—a berks county judge on wednesday halved the $1.5 million bail amount that had been set for a georgia man while he awaits recently filed charges that he sexually assaulted two boys in the 1990s while living in the hamburg area.. jesse j. hill, 52, remained in the county jail in lieu of $750,000 cash bail to await a preliminary hearing following wednesday's bail hearing before judge patrick t. barrett.

  the defendant followed the hearing from a cellblock in the basement of the courthouse via closed-circuit video.. state attorney general josh shapiro's office alleges that hill leveraged his family's trusted name within their jehovah's witnesses religious community to prey on boys as young as 9 during the 1990s, plying his victims with trips to the mall and r-rated movies, alcohol, marijuana and candy, according to the charges.. hill's lawyer, jay nigrini, petitioned the court for bail modification, arguing that hill's substantial local ties — he has resided in berks nearly all of his life — puts him at extremely low risk of fleeing prosecution.

  Come on, we know that disfellowshipping is not a permanent thing or a life ban... ever.

  We have no details of the re-in statement but after 13 years , if he pleaded repentance, they would let him back. Even a prison term is not for life.

  I am certainly not defending their action but I understand it . The bad thing is that he should have been reported to the police at the time, if they were honourable and had any thoughts for the outside community.

  I did see that G B update.. I saw nothing that I was not expecting to hear.

  The comments about returning to meetings were indeed disingenuous. They have admitted that some ( a lot) have stayed home on zoom. Of course he used the comments from the blinkered sheeplike ones who fawn over them with gushing sycophantic words .

  Of the ones in my family and extended family…. they are still zooming.

  this quote is from a kingdom ministry, advertising to its members (i was one until 1977) in the year 1970.. "a new circuit assembly program is scheduled to begin in september.

  we believe you will find it most informative and upbuilding.

  Yes, at the time we all knew, we just knew that momentous things even the Gt. Tribulation was all going to happen in the 1970s . We knew 6000 years of man’s existence was up in ‘75. That had to be important because the Society said it was !

  People were starting to talk about world pollution and ecology. The ‘Truth book’ contained the quote that “ The world will be too dangerous to live in “ . The Wt made a big thing of a book entitled’Famine 1975’ ….. excitement was mounting.

  what i mean by the title of this thread is what has happened to a relative of mine, one who is really upset about this factor:.

  this relative is a distant cousin on my mother's side of the family.

  she studied as a child and got baptized at 14 1/2 years old.

  That is the way of us all. I am lucky to have a modest pension from employment that augments the state pension but I know of many Witnesses that just get by on the basic. They gave their all in service, many were self employed and never bothered with a pension plan. They totally believed the false promise that “ you will never grow old in this system “

  The ones I know still have their faith. They just keep going. I don’t know how....

  JWs near of losing their status a religious organization in Norway

  last spring norweigian state refused to give public contribution to jws (religious organisations can apply that in norway and previously wtbs has been granted that).

  the decision was caused because of practise of disfellowshpiping.. now there is a new twist.. 25.10.2022 authorites in norway send a letter to wtbs and told them that they have four weeks to fix that practise.

  if they don't do that they will loose their status as a religiouse organisation.. intrestingly jws did not "understand" what authorites meant by that and requested more time.. how can they not understand?

  Anthony Morris addresses this issue in his Governing Body Update No.8. He described the matter just as we have seen it reported and called it an attack on religious freedom. He affirmed that the authorities would want them to change their policies but that they will never do so. He asked the viewers to pray for a satisfactory outcome.

  pimo , as i said i`m going out on a limb here and i might upset some people ,but i really don`t think this is a real strategy that works and doesn`t help the person who is still in.. while you may be doing this to keep the peace in the household and keep relations somewhat stable in the family arrangement ,it`s not helping the person who is still under the control of wt/gb to break free from it ,and isn`t that what you would really like to happen ?.

  and are their children involved as well ?

  that`s another issue ,the longer they are subject to this control the harder it will be for them to disengage get free.. maybe you should re-evaluate what you could do more to help your partner / spouse or whatever to free themselves from this bondage they have involved themselves in.. [ of course their may be others who are quite happy to have their partners/mates under the control of the wt/gb.

  For a while , I was PIMO , while I was organising an exit that would not cost me my wife and home. That was 20 years ago and my home life is better than ever was when I was in.

  During that time it was terrible. I felt a hypocrite and everyone despises a hypocrite. I could not have kept it up for long . I tried hard to help her see the “truth about the truth “ but it was no good . Eventually we agreed to differ and settled down .
