  Disassociation?

  hi people!

  i was wondering if you all could take a moment to give me some advice.... since leaving my congregation and regaining clarity, i have been contemplating disassociating myself.

  i know it seems like a silly thing to fret about, but i think disassociation might give me the closure ive been looking for.

  Every ones circumstances are different.

  Question: "Do you have any family in the Borg?" If so they will cut you dead , walk past in the street and pretend they dont know you.
  If you do have family , consider carefully their feelings.

  If not and you really dont want to have to be doing with them any more - then do it if you want to walk away. But the other posters are right when they say that the cong will not know why , or even care why, very much . To them you will be just one of the "Evil Slave", who went away being "Not of our sort"

  If it will make you feel good , do it!

  JT. What do you have against elders, as we were, who have not had equivalent of a high school education?

  In Britain we call that snobbish . A couple of the best men I knew in the Elder bodies were plumbers by trade , but they had perception, could read character and had love for their charges. You can't judge a book... etc

  i don't know whether its good to spread stories regarding individual cases of perverts in the congregation.. but this case shows to me that you just can not tell very easily who is likely to be a pervert or not , even if are elders in the congregation.. this particular elder was very prominent in our area and was a regular pioneer for some time.i belive he also served on the hospital liaison committe.. one day it just appears in the local newspaper "****** has been charged with flashing in a public park" i believe young girls were the victims , though i cant remmeber.. it was only when this appeared in the newspaper that he confessed his crime to the elders, well he couldn't hide it now could he?.

  even though he had been caught and charged and then taken to court , a process that most have teken many months , he had not confessed and continued serving as an elder and on the hospital team.. no one could believe he could actually do this , yet he admited his guilt in court.. just goes to show , that in this so called clean organistaion there could be many more covering up their crimes.. (in my area also two brothers were covicted with rape and jailed).

  so if anyone thinks that in general jehovahs witness are better than normal people, well i know a flasher and two rapists, there are plenty of "good" associations in gods organisation.

  You are right of course and no one can deny that these things occur. But lets not forget that there is a judicial system in place to hear cases and kick out such perverts. The trouble is catching them,without a confession .

  I am surprised, at the lenient six months before that molester was re instated, but not disbelieving it . I have known some very wide variations in time before re instatement

  i have seen references to the bible verses which describe saul's army, after a long drawn out battle, eating unbled meat.

  often, i see this described as an action they took to keep from starving.

  in my view, to infer this was done to keep from starving is just silly, and weakens the argument because it is so ridiculous.

  WT. 15.04.94 page 31

  The crux of the WT argument seems to be that they made some attempt to drain it but slaughtered them "On the ground", not on a stone and did not hang the carcasses to drain properly

  Interestingly WT says
  ""God did not demand taking fanatical measures to drain the blood"

  Thats what they say ,what do you think?

  According to some people's definition I am evil for submitting a post to this board. My wife says I am evil but she has too much savvy to tell the elders and bring all that trouble on us.

  It is a funny thing ,though, when you are in the Borg, you cannot see just how evil the doctrine of Armageddon really is. May be it is so sanitized - we spoke of "destruction " of the unbelievers - not their slaughter, and it just never enters peoples heads to criticize the leadership, and they so cleverly confuse faith in God with faith in the WT.

  It takes a jolt to make one sit up and think, otherwise you just go on looking forward to your new home "under a vine and fig tree" and trusting blindly in "Jehovah's way of doing things"

  Individual dubs are certainly not evil, most are good people - just blinded

  The Queens mother.

  its sad that any one should die ,but when i hear all the crap in the british news about how great this queens mother was it makes me think of the witness brian washing, except on a national scale.. now i didn't care much about diana either , but this is the queen mother who installed a secret telephone line so that charles could phone his mistress.how quickly people forget.this is also the woman who call wallece simpson the "lowest of the low" .. any way this woman apparently arranged her own funeral.now if she is so nice and loving how come she arranged a funeral that is going to cost this country millions of pounds.of course the nhs doesn't need this money!.

  just in one day 6000 police officers were used .imagine how much that cost and how much they were needed to fight crime.. i suppose crime doen't need fighting when youre such an amazing person.

  Losing my Religion......

  well at 29 years old, after a lifelong relationship/belief in/association with a higher power i called god, here i am very close to taking an athiestic or agnostic approach to the rest of my life.

  it really hit me the other day although my doubts have been there but i just have been forcing myself to ignore them because i was afraid to give up that religious part of me because its all that i have ever been and i was afraid of the unknown.

  but i realized after getting through another one of those weeks from hell that it makes no difference how much i pray or how much i believe.

  Just to add my two penn'th,

  The thread started with a lot of questions asking why life was unhappy if God exists and we pray to Him.
  It reminded me of a quote from J F Kennedy, something like "Ask not what my country will do for me, but rather what i can do for my country"
  Perhaps we should be asking more what we can do for God and fellowman by our faith and example rather than expecting God to solve our problems
  I have never (even in zealous dub days) bought the idea that God will reach down and rescue me. Who am I , that such a One would favour me above others?
  I do see all around us evidence(sufficient for me at least} that God created life. Talking to a pregnant workmate today about her experiences just fills me with wonder.

  He gave us a life, with a bit of luck threescore years and ten, the rest is down to us.. I am still working on the rest of the Philosophy.

  Quite true.. The trouble is that they are so "expletive!" rule bound they stop using human emotion and judgement . They have to, they could be told to shun their best friend next week and they dare not trust their heart. In it's most extreme form it moves them to allow a childs life to slip away for want of blood treatment;and they call it loyalty.

  these folks have made up a serious glossary of language used by jws!

  "i am happy to discontinue the dateline update due to the closeness of the program.

  dateline, is a good organization and doing their best to be fair and remain neutral when it comes to reporting the story.

  Does anyone know whether NBC "Dateline", can be picked up in the UK?

  We have a Sky satelite dish and can watch some USA news channels. ie,CNN, and Fox News and Sky News Channel shows some U S news programmes.

  Whats the truth about 1914?

  i've heard on a few occasions from my research on the internet that 1914 really does not have the significance that wtbs assigns to it.

  from my limited understanding on the matter it involves the wtbs moving the date of the destruction of jerusalem.. can someone give me a little more detail on this or provide a link with a website that does?.

  if its true that the wts has manipulated historical dates and bible scriptures to support this date of 1914 then that would mean everything else crumbles.. thanks for any info on this

  "You Know " is correct to say in essence that our faith in Christ and Bible Prophecy does not depend on the calculations of other men.

  But we have a question here of [b]confidence in the WTBTS.[\b] That org has "nailed its colours to the mast" with the teaching of the date 1914. Now that it can be successfully challenged, we have to ask "Where was the Spirit Direction in that teaching?"

  If not right on that, then what are they right about??
