  Worldy Compassion & Generosity

  last friday, one of our employees' home burned to the ground, killing all 3 of his children.

  i began the process of taking up a collection, buying the card, etc.

  all of us were shocked to the core for this man's tragedy and suffering.

  That is a lovely story of human compasssion and we feel for that poor couple.

  For many years before stopping the service to the Borg, I had given up on the notion that all "Worldlings" were mean and horrible. Now I can see with open eyes the good ,as well as sometimes bad, in the people of this world.

  I happened to read the Awake of November 22nd. There is a blatent trumpet blowing article regarding their efforts in relief measures in Houston in June 2001

  It is telling when they proudly say the elders compiled a report of the "Brothers and sisters" in need and a squad was assembled to repair the homes of 700 witnesses. It ends with a tribute to "The loving brotherhood"

  Sure , they say , but only looking after their own.

  Help! Neighbor starting a study

  i am so furious.

  the very zealous elderly pioneer sister who lives across the street (alberta) has been canvassing the neighborhood for studies.

  i watch her walk up and down the street and being very friendly and helpful with her neighbors (all the while preaching to them i'm sure).

  Hello, may I add my five pennoth.

  I agree that C of C may be too heavy at this time , and the sisters would rubbish it as they always do.

  Do not criticize the sisters personally, they have appeared as friends and your neighbour no doubt is grateful to them.

  I would concentrate on trying to get her to think, asking questions "Can you really say that non J Ws deserve to die at Armageddon ? What about her family, do they deserve that ,? etc

  It is true that she has the right to decide for herself, but she deserves to hear all the information. Good Luck!

  If I were to step back into W T mode , then I would say that the article likens modern witnessess to Jeremiah because they speak out and are unpopular. The actual message is seen as a continuation of Jesus' work on Earth. A response to his exhortation to "Preach this good news of the Kingdom" . This would include new light such as the date 1914 and such things that could not have been known in the first century .

  JW/HLC visit to our hospital

  yesterday jehovahs witnesses and the hospital liason committee visited our hospital to donate a blood cell saver machine which had been funded by the local congregations in our county of kent in england.

  a buffet lunch was provided, along with 4 talks to a large audience of surgical and medical consultants, anaetheologists, paedatricians, and obstetraticians (sp!

  ) about the future of blood and the transfusion of such products.

  Thank you for the post Scooby. Do not be put off by a little adverse reaction. The mark of a successful thread is the number of replies that it receives.

  I was going to ask about the funding for this ,for I have heard of such things in the UK, but Scotsman has explained that now.

  I personally welcome this news . If just one life is saved by it then it has to be a good thing. But I also have reservations about the motives . I am sure that dubs from all over the South will want to come to your hospital for surgery if they can.

  I used to think that sayings such as yours were just jokes, but since watching Fox News on satellite I see people really talking such things in all apparent seriousness. Wow ! I am gobsmacked .

  An interesting comparisom between our nations , Tony Blair gave a serious warning that we could be the targets of terrorists. Reaction ? None. People are more interested in the scandals revealed in the press by an ex Royal butler. By the way the Fire Brigade are out on strike.

  Maybe because the I R A bombed us for years, we are no longer shocked.
