Re. His thoughts on this board please tell him that the rest of us old timers feel the same way and mourn the old days, but we have to keep going...finding the good bits and ignoring the bad bits
As he would say “Peace Out”....

"You too must logically reason on what you have learned about Jehovah from reading the Bible."
Absolutely true . Logical reasoning ignores family pressures or a wanting to believe. It considers all angles , reviews the counter arguments, reads all relevant material both for and against. Would such an examination lead you to this conclusion?
[Quote]
"And third, you need to confirm that Jehovah has an organized group of people who are worshipping him under Christ’s headship and that Jehovah’s Witnesses are that group. "
I submit that if their reasoning was really logical, few would agree with that.
it's been six months since the kingdom halls have been closed.
i believe here in ontario, canada that you are now allowed to have up to 50 people congregate together.. that was the average attendance before they did all the merging of the congregations.
they should have went back to the original pre-merger congregations.
Forgive me for not finding the actual quote, but tbey said in a letter to the U k elders , a little while back, that the K .Halls would stay closed for as long as it takes...... no matter if the authorities said o k to open.
with the covid numbers rising again, I don't see them opening any time soon.
Yippee!
this is part of splane's lecture in the final part of the final day of the 2020 convention.
now speaking of broadcasting.
do you think jehovah has been preparing us for something like this pandemic?
Thanks for reminding me Smiddy... that major change in beleifs passed me by...

"When were God’s people held captive by Babylon the Great?
For a number of years, we explained that this captivity began in 1918 and involved a brief period of time when God’s people came under the control of Babylon the Great. ............."
[New light]
"That captivity began sometime in the second century C.E. and continued until the cleansing of the spiritual temple in the time of the end."
............
That is hardly a "minor detail"! When I think of the weeks if not months we spent on a Tuesday night hammering that point in the old Babylon book, as a kid. It was the major thing of the day ..What a waste of time!
as someone who left in 1991 aged 21, one of my overriding memories of growing up in the watchtower was being able to "prove" the end times by referencing 1914.. major change in 95 then again after that.
if i'm being honest i could not even tell you now what the current teaching is.. for those who still attend the meetings, is it still openly spoken about?
i genuinely curious as i wonder if the teaching will be altogher dropped eventually, and one of the easiest ways to achieve that is to stop speaking about it.
It may not appear often in print ( if that is the right word in the digital age) but it is very much still part of the beliefs and culture.
The whole point of JWism is the "last days". That began when Jesus took up his kingdom in heaven. And that was 1914. Nowadays I hear more of the "visible signs of the times", like Covid, than a mathematical calculation but the 1914 date is very much alive in the WT mind.
my husband insist that i talk to the elders.
it is something i 100% plan on doing for the simple fact of my relationship with him.
i know some of you may disagree but it seems like the best option for us.. problem/question: .
Magnum
funnily enough, an elder called yesterday, to collect something, and in conversation mentioned the state of the world and the fact that we are now in the final part of the final part of the times...
I laughed it off and just said that “ I think we have heard that before somewhere “
but I wish I could have remembered how long ago that was.....
the former image was obtained from a topic in the humor and joke section of this platform and it seems to carry a underground information that is equally powerful.. since a food company had been producing a particular product for four generations since 1914, how come the wtbts publishing company are still producing for a one generation since 1914?.
awake october 1968 stated............ even if we presume that youngsters 15 years of age would be perceptive enough to realize the import of what happened in 1914, it would still make the youngest of "this generation" nearly 70 years old today(year 1968).
so the great majority of the generation to which jesus was referring has already passed away in death.
Only the Watchtower would dare to claim that one generation plus the next generation still equals one generation.
It is saying, "Don't beleive Jesus, believe us because we know what he meant to say"
you have to get baptized even if you were baptized in several other religions so why don’t they require you to remarry your spouse, especially if you were married as a mormon or muslim and had multiple wives.
some countries legally allow polygamy so you couldn’t necessarily just go by the laws of the country right?
these problems probably never come up though because i bet not many flds or muslims become jws.
This looks a long read but it tells well the story of the dubs and polygamy in Nigeria. ( long after the Mormans had renounced it)
WT 95 Sept 1 p22
"But until 1947 when the missionaries came, polygamy was common in the congregations. Polygamous brothers were told that they had married more than one wife in ignorance. So if they had two or three or four or five wives, they could keep them, but they should not take any more. That was the policy we had.
Many people had been anxious to join us, especially the Cherubim and Seraphim Society in Ilesha. They said that Jehovah’s Witnesses were the only people who taught the truth. They agreed with our teachings and wanted to convert their churches into Kingdom Halls. We were working hard to bring this about. We even had centers to train their elders.
Then came new direction concerning polygamy. One of the missionaries delivered a lecture at a circuit assembly in 1947. He spoke about good conduct and habits. Next he quoted 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10, which says that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God. He then added: “And the polygamists will not inherit God’s Kingdom!” People in the audience shouted: “Oh, polygamists will not inherit God’s Kingdom!” Division resulted. It was like a war. Many of the newly associated ones stopped associating, saying: “Thank God, we have not gone very far.”
The majority of the brothers, however, started to mend their ways by setting their wives free. They gave them money and said, ‘If you are young, go and look for another husband. I made a mistake by marrying you. Now I must be a husband of one wife.’
Soon another problem came up. Some, after deciding to keep one wife and release the others, changed their minds and decided they wanted to take back one of the other wives and release the one they previously kept! So trouble started again.
Further direction came from headquarters in Brooklyn, based on Malachi 2:14, which refers to “the wife of your youth.” The direction was that husbands should keep the first wife that they had married. That was how the question was finally resolved"
and the people say: ‘this is our god, who led us out of egypt!’ then the israelites have a big party and worship the golden calf.
when jehovah sees this, he is very angry.
so he says to moses: ‘hurry and go down.
The analogy of the Golden Calf is a good one. The modern day dubs do indeed worship the Organisation rather than the God. - With their lapel badges and attitude that nothing they say can be wrong.
They don't know if but they have made it an idol.
