Thanks for the alert. It is all so depressingly familiar, isn’t it ….

Beards vs. Shunning announcements
by slimboyfat induring lett’s announcement that beards are now allowed he elaborated at some length how brothers ought to feel and react to the change in policy.
he warned brothers not to resent not being able to grow beards earlier if they had wished to do so.
he also warned brothers who supported the old policy not to allow themselves to wonder what the point of doing so was now that it has changed.

Despite the seismic changes to their expectations for the future , re the resurrection and survival - the things that have really got them talking are the changes in dress and grooming. The othe stuff goes by with hardly a word .
What does that show about them?

consequences for going against the direction.

We should not be too carried away by all this. The rules still apply and they are not going to be naive enough to accept repeated sins and declarations of repentance. Will it really be enough to mumble the word “ ok I’m sorry “ to be believed repentant? I doubt it.
The change to the appeal committee is relevant but in practice the appeals that I seen turned over were in fact the case of the subject expressing their repentance better and in a different way at the appeal.
The 3 month reinstating is a bit of farce . They remove a “wicked “ man in January and he is not wicked by April?
All in all , it is a mess. And what with changes to the standards on dress and grooming , not long after the previous changes…. People are bamboozled.

Who really is the Faithful and Discreet Slave? The recent changes and the Governing Body's 10 year plan
by redsetter2 ini am sure we were all shocked at the governing body update #2 with the unusual and impulsive changes set forth.. i am an insider at whq, and when i was on reddit and in communication with avoidjw i explained to the best of my ability that the approach on disfellowshipping was going to change based on the new light at the 2023 agm, that the jubilee rumor was false, and there were going to be changes on how jws approached disfellowshipping in response to the norway situation if it didn't turn out in watchtower's favor.
the decision came because of a legal blow to watchtower, not because "holy spirit" wad directing a faithful slave, who is going to become the "evil slave", more explanation on this soon.. everything i stated came true.
i left reddit exjw community due to the immature and mentally unstable nature there, and yet as has been the case my words came true.

I am sorry, but I just don’t but Redsetter2’s list of expected changes. All that about sex being tolerated and the end of conventions and his changes to appointments, ….. no it does not ring true . Some of the other stuff he spoke of is not banned anyway.
However, like my fellow Brit St George of England, I am unlikely to still be alive in 10 years time so I won’t know.

Hee Hee Hee… the older ones of my acquaintance are in high dudgeon over this. They hate the relaxation of standards.
As for the greeting of d/fd , it is too much coincidence to ignore the pressure from outside, like Norway.
When you think of the criticism we once got when young for dress and grooming, this is not like that organisation anymore. I pointed out that it has hardly turned out well for Churches when they try to be casual and trendy.

I think a little context needs explaining here . Those articles are clearly just advice for a healthy diet, based on what dietitians are saying at the time. It is certainly not a doctrinal thing or a WT belief . Most Witnesses would have missed it anyway.
You can argue the rights and wrongs of what to eat, and people do. To the Witnesses it is no big deal.

When I woke up to things I was an elder. I felt I could not quit “cold turkey” so fo a few months I carried on letting everyone know I was unhappy , depressed bla bla ….
I felt terrible in that time . No one likes a hypocrite and that’s what I was . At the next C O visit I resigned and have lived quietly in the shadows ever since.

Elderly and sick: Out of sight, out of mind
by Captain Schmideo2 insomeone else posted something a similar experience, this is one i had regarding my mom.my mom died last year.
she had been in failing health for years, but the last 2 year were pretty rough for her, with lots of visits to the hospital.
the last 4 months, it was the hospital, a skilled nursing facility/rehab unit, and finally, a nursing home.
-
BluesBrother
It all depends who you are . I know an old ‘sister’ who is in hospital right now but she is alert and keeps in touch with them all by her phone. She is friendly, welcoming, has them round and they bring cakes and have a lovely time. She is positive and says the right things . Therefore she is loved with plenty of visits and messages.
Another person though who cannot do these things or perhaps has a less positive spirit if someone sees her ….. will soon be forgotten. There is no culture of social care in dub land, it is all about the Ministry, and you can’t count time for visiting an old sister.
Sad but true.

Hailstone message AND everyone will be saved? Questions
by slimboyfat ini’ve not been paying close attention to watchtower developments, but talking to a jw yesterday it occurred to me the society (yes, still use that term - old school) have been sending out mixed messages in recent years.
from what i gather, a few years ago the gb announced that during the great tribulation jws would be required to preach a “hailstone message of judgement” which involved telling people it was too late for them to repent and they were definitely going to be destroyed.
there were hints that this could be very soon, “any day now” preaching could stop and the hailstone message come in, kind of thing.

Although they now hold out hope for previous non supporters that even during the GT , the door remaining open…..but in order to be saved those people still have to “ turn to Jehovah “ and humbly approach the Watchtower and ask to join.
I don’t know but perhaps a hard message might be something like “ there’s no alternative now. You have to join us or get fried!”
That would go down well ?….
