You might want to add a little note of your own to that document that snooping around in your private affairs is not only rude, but none of her affair. Then don't say a thing about it.
After giving her enough time to find it, start passwording stuff you don't want her to see.

Mother violates privacy and gets burned!
by Darth Yhwh ini started a word document in early october regarding the failed predictions of the wbts.
i titled it as false prophets and my intent was to have a resource for information regarding wbts publications that verified that they claimed the end of the world was happening on such and such date and they knew about it because of their privileged status of having an open frequency with the almighty itself.
the document was basically a cut and paste from the quotes website with a little commentary from myself in-between biblical and wbts quotes.

The bottom line argument a dub must accept to refuse blood
by Check_Your_Premises insince the entire scriptural, historical, and medical basis for the ban on blood is baseless and incoherent, ultimately it rests on the credibility of the wt as god's organization.. of course we can't rely on that either, because the history of the wt includes a ban on organ transplants and vaccinations.
today they allow those treatments, and therefore by their own admission they incorrectly placed restrictions on them in the past.
unquestionably people died adhering to those restrictions.

No. I don't think that God ever gave that kind of authority to any man where he expected submission no matter what. Let's take David for example. If that kind of submission was what God was asking, then David would've been expected to stand right there and let Saul run him through when Saul attempted to murder him. He didn't. David dodged the spear and fled. He didn't turn himself in for execution when Saul persued him and left Israel. Although he didn't organize a rebellion and waited on God. He did get out when things were bad and kept God's approval.
Even the king was under the law, not above it. Moses, who perhaps had the most power and authority any man has ever been given by God, was under the law, not above it. When I read about Moses in the Bible, I get the feel that he was very cognizant of that and never demanded the kind of mindless obedience to his every whim that the Governing Body does.
That is my own opinion, some of you may differ.

Thanks for the replies. I at least hope that relations improve just a bit. I was the only one of the kids to finish highschool, although the rest did get GEDs years later. The ifrst to go to college. The first to get an Associates degree. And the only one so far to get a Bachelor's degree. But, Dad was never that sure how to relate to me because of my involvment with the WTBTS. Maybe he'll be able to unwind a little because of that.
To some extent, our relationship has always been distant. But it became especially akward while I was a Dub. What can I say? I always tried to treat him respectfully. But when you get down to it, we were worlds apart because of the organization. I certainly don't blame him for that.

As many of you know, I am a fader. The last meeting I went to was the Memorial a few years ago. Tonight my Dad (not a Dub, never been a Dub, he is a Baptist) called for one of our infrequent hello, goodbyes. Things were never that great between us when I was growing up, but he was particularly uncomfortable with my being a Dub. Since I am the only one in the family who has a stable phone number, or can be reached easily, Dad calls me once in a while to find out how my siblings and I are doing (Dad lives about 1500 miles away).
When he awckwardly wished me a happy holiday, I decided to tell him about my leaving the Dubs, and why I chose fading away. So, we talked awhile about it. I don't know what else to say about it other than I sked him not to let it slip to two of my other siblings since one of them is a Dub and the other has close ties to several elders.
It may not matter much anyway. Over the season, I had a knock on my door. When I opened it, I came face to face with two elders from my last congo. I let them in and we had a slightly awkward conversation where I didn't show any enthusiasm for the idea of going to the meetings. I didn't say anything they could really latch onto, and things didn't degenerate into an inquisition with questions about my loyalty to the FDS. But, considering things I've seen on this forum, I might not be all that surprised at an announcment.
The only way I am likely to find out will be if a family member finds out and cites it as reason to shun me. Then again, I might get another visit of a more confrontational manner preparatory of an annoucnement. As it is, I plan on following the advise I've so freely handed out to others and refuse to meet with a full committee or in any way give them the satisfaction of an acknowledgement of authority over me. That is if it comes to that.

Jonsey. I might try calling her and explaining that the check and presents had nothing to do with Christmas other than, perhaps, bad timing on your part. You sent it because that was when you had it to send, and you love them, no other reasons. I wouldn't get embroiled in any discussions on teachings and do my best to let the inevitable hurtful comments slide off my back like water off a duck's.
Remember where she is coming from. She is in a faith that is built around separation and control. She is taught that she must "stand up for what is right" according to their twisted teachings. She doesn't see her comments as hurtful, rather, she sees them as "standing firm for righteousness". I don't know if you profess in form of Christianity, since you didn't mention it, but whether you do or not you show that you are taking the higher road if you react tactfully and pleasantly to her fanaticism.
That is my opinion, others surely will differ. I have family back in that organization and expect to see the screws get tighter myself as time goes by. As one who still professes belief in Christ, I've decided to let my light shine by taking the high road. They may be so far back in the darkness that they won't see it. But that is their choice in the end! You do what is best for you! We'll support you no matter who's advice you take.

ELF (Earth Liberation Front)

one 'somewhat organized' group is the earth liberation front.. they use acts of terrorism in an attempt to gain attention to their cause, and to try and force action in favor of the 'earth'.. no one likes to see resources wasted and we are all concerned for the wellbeing of our childrens future on this planet, but.... do you think that groups like this actually help the cause of awareness?
i feel that they are counterproductive to the creation of meaningful solutions because they help to propagate the idea that environmentally conscious people are all tree hugging, terrorists who would rather chop down a child than a tree.. what are your thoughts?.

Those folks are extremists and, as you pointed out, terrorists. They need to be hunted down and put in jail just the same as any other terrorist group. I certainly agree that their actions do nothing good for the environmental movement.

Not bad AuldSoul. I've often thought of getting the book by that Scandanavian brother that set the fox among the hens. Russell relied on sheer going through the Bible and adding up the dates to arrive at 607. There was not all that much published in his time on the archealogical finds that were, and still, being made. The WTBTS prefers to stay in denial because they've staked everything on that date and don't want to see the exodus they fear might happen if they change it.
