For years they used to say that only they could do it like that because they had the holy spirit and nobody else did. I wonder what they say now with extreme home makeover on every Sunday?

Just simply refuse to talk to him. You've made no commitment to do so and your mother has no right to make it for you.

Our parents did good if they got an 8th grade education

I've seen that exam surface many times during my time on the net. What it really illustrates is the difference between then and now in what kids are expected to know. The exam reflects the requirements of a primarily agrarian society. Many of the measures one is required to know (bushel, rod, furlong etc.) are not even commonly used now. Since WWII the U.S. changed to a primarily industrial, then post-industrial economy. The things that were important in 1895 aren't important now.
Education is seen as having a different pupose now than it had in 1895. Dewey, the god of educators, felt that public education should be used for societal engineering. That is the emphasis of education today. We may be disappointed that our kids are not taught the things that are important to us. But they can tell us how to properly put a condom on. Our kids can tell us that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were hypocrites because they owned slaves. In short, our children can repeat quite well what the extreme left, the folks who now call the shots in education, want them to learn. Our children learn well the things and attitudes which are important to those who run the education establishment. The fault is not with the teachers, they teach what they are required to. The problem is with us, the voters for not demanding what is important to US.

Another stupid blunder by the WTBTS.
by gumby inmany times the wtbts are pretty good at changing poilicy without looking to obvious to the r&f as being sneaky and having a motive behind their changes.
normally they can even justify their change as scriptural to the unwary.
however, when they changed the baptismal questions, it was more obvious that there was "motive" behind the change and some exited the group because of the change.. this thread is for those who have never heard of the change before and were not aware of the current stance the wtbts has taken regarding baptism.

Nice point Sheepish. I noticed that in the last few years they removed the FDS doctrine from books the give to new studies and the public and wait until new ones get the organize book, inpreparation for become a publisher, to introduce them to that doctrine.

One more try.
Another thing I found, something that even Terry made mention to me, was the lack of conversation about Jesus Christ. Often witnesses speak of Jehovah, however, there is really not much mention of our Lord Jesus Christ, except perhaps around the time of the Memorial. Browse through the pages of the publications and you will find some startling things. The focus tends to be on first the Organization and then Jehovah. There is not much focus on Jesus. That’s kind of funny considering that he said we were to be witnesses of Him, we are to be called Christians for a reason. It is to Him that our knee should bow, He is our King.
That paragraph articulates the crux of the matter for me. The organization is first with great emphasis on the FDS, meaning the Governing body. Jehovah comes second, but only where he can be used to validate the FDS's authority. Jesus is a very distant third, and only because he can be appealed to as making them "Christian". That had alot to do with me fading.

Thanks for the update Facts! I guess the organization is now determined to go after anyone it sees as a threat (your website would make you a threat) in the same manner as the Scientologists. I guess you could say they are in good company!
Carry on!
