Welcome AloneinOh! I too am a newbie, I just found this forum this
week. I regret not looking sooner for I was a very lost soul for many
years. I feel somewhat at peace here. That video with the girl in the
bumble-bee costume keeps coming to mind!! Take the advice given
and wait to deal with your parents, definitely sit down and open up to your
wife about this though. I have a very supportive hubby who has been my
saving grace for the last 18 years.

jw kids are repressed in every aspect of their lives, creatively, intellectually, atheletically...the list goes on.. what did you love to do as a kid, yet weren't permitted to do?.
i personally loved football as a kid.
other jw kids and i would play every weekend until the subject was brought up at an assembly as being competitive.
WoW! What I would like to know is , is there anyone`s parents who are
at all apologetic or shows any remorse for what their (most of us) kids went
through at such young ages??! All I ever got out of my stepmom was that
"they realized they made a few mistakes".......nothing else! Just that I`m going to
hell ( what! ) and calling me a an apostate. Funny thing is she never asked me first
if I still believed in God!

Barely had the time outside of FS to hold down a job. What the F**k kind of reality
does the WTS see??? How do they expect their people to survive not working but
ALWAYS going door to door?? God was I so blind! Those days I was living with
my parents STILL at 18 in Virginia. It was to damn cold there for me I headed back to
Florida where we were from originally.
Who here was dragged on to stage at District asemblies?? My Dad loved to volunteer

I agree JustTickledPink, I believe that we are here to appreciate LIFE and
try to be the best person we can be, have faith that there is a loving and
caring God who just wants us to enjoy being alive and appreciate what he has
given us.
so, after browsing through this website and then taking the search for the real 'truth' about the wts into my own hands, i decided to confront my jw mother.
i stuck with the date-changing (1914, 1975, 2000) and asked what the explanation was since i have been gone for over 10 years now.
she was quiet for a minute, then told me there was an explanation but she would have to look it up.
But that`s what the Bible is is a historical record written by men!!
Who we know are imperfect! So how much of the Bible is factual,
and far from what really happened??? All organized religions today
have manipulated the book to fit their own beliefs.
reading a topic in here, i came across a conversation regarding jehovah approved(tm) sports.
i noticed that two of the posters were insensed at the amount of ex-jws in this forum.. they started ignoring everyone else that had put their opinion in on the subject....and decided that everyone in this forum was a jw "hater".
i myself take offence to that, for i don't hate the jw's.
I don`t hate my family, who some are still JW`s, I just wish they would
have respected me as an individual that could make her own choices, and
maybe lightened up on th noose they kept around my neck especially when
I was older. I couldn`t handle the control they wanted on me daily, I know that`s
a parents job, but not at 18 and 19...!! After I left only then did I realize just how
brainwashed and controlled I had been. I had good friends thru the KH, whose
parents were "somewhat-normal" acting and to this day I believe some of them are
still active members beacuse I know they were allowed to make their own decisions.

I HATED being the kid in class that didn`t participate in all the school functions,
be it holidays, saying the pledge to the flag, sports. I was very shy and this only
added to it more! Thank God the friends I had had known me since kindergarten
and knew my situation. As I grew older I learned to just do what I wanted and just
never let my parents know. My step-mom would have been a great dictator!
