I wouldnt say it was the biggest by far, butr locally it was significant. We had a golden boy, ex bethelite and a representative of the rbc move in. Well the elders had to move him up the ranks fast, so that he was the PO in five minutes of arriving.
He used to bring the "love" of congos he used to visit on his vacations.
So he brings us the love of blah blah and everyone claps and thinks he is wonderful, except we knew someone who lived there and they hadn't seen him or his precious wife at their meetings at all!!

What's the BIGGEST LIE you ever heard?
by nicolaou in.
someone i knew stood up at the convention to answer her two baptism questions both with a "yes".
she was having an affair with a married brother at the time.. but i'd top my 'biggest lie' list with four small words; "in the beginning, god"

Flamin Hell!!!
restrangled....momofmany.......
Yes it IS pathetic. The attitude goes all the way back, at least to rutherford if not russell.
So what about sitting in the "book" study [yes with the aid of the bible] and having to listen to some dimwit read..if you can call it that [his wife whispering the words to him] and just because he is a "brother" the sisters who can read way better having to stomach it???!!!
BTW thanks for the replies. -

ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH.......
I went up to him and said that there are sisters here too you know!! He looked at me like I was stupid, smartened up for about one minute then went back to calling the women brothers too. Maybe some of them has stuff we didn't know about......you know...external, dangling genitalia.
The ways some elders wives behave, maybe it is true? -

YOUR LAST MEETING.........................
by vitty in........................at my last meeting, the elder was talking about 1975 and said "it never happened, it is appostates using a time when (some) brothers took the info in the wt wrong"...................i just blinked and finally woke up.. i had been on this site lurking for a couple of weeks, and realized thing werent right, but to have some creep say on the platform " it didnt happen"............when this ruined my and my siblings childhood, just made me snap.
on the way home, i told my hubby "that was the last meeting im going to"................boy was he pleased.. .

Just over a year ago. Went to the BS and had to endure the conductor saying that all the people who were in a tv program about child abuse/pedo's in the dubs were apostates and liars.
I disagreed with him in front of the whole group. Got up, spat out a bit more and left!!!!!
I love my "free" time. About One and a half days a week. -

What's Your Favorite Brand of Beer?
by tfsm ini know this is slightly off-topic but i find alot of the discussion here somewhat depressing and most of it is far too cerebral for me.
i (obviously) live in america and i'm a big fan of beer.
light, dark, lager, ale, whatever.

New fundraising methods for the WTBTS!
by Gill inyoung people ask ' how can i help those in need?
awake aug 2006
now i remember when we were jws and raising funds for a new kh, the money had to come from publishers pockets.
-
geevee
We had yard sales.....to raise funds for the kh. Nothing wrong with it so long as the cong officially didnt sanction it. ALL the elders were involved and they raised heaps!!
Some of the stricter pharasees need to get a life. If you dont raise some outside funds, it all has to come from the R&F.....poor little sheep...baaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh -

Governing Body member Gerrit Lösch spoke at my District Convention
by under_believer ingerrit losch (it's pronounced kinda like "lirsh") did two things at our dc (portland, or june 30-july 2).
he released the new book about the minor prophets, and he gave the closing talk, the one with the resolution in it.
first of all, losch was not promoted to the governing body because of his speaking ability.

Wasn't it the GB's resolution that they were telling the R & F about? Like they are setting an example for all. Why does the audience have to say "aye" when they [gb] are supposed to be the ones to say "aye"? [that "aye" thing was and is and always will be very corney]

"Oh that I should have to go thru this..."
by Hellrider inwhen my mother was on her deathbed, she mumbled these words: "oh, that i should have to go thru this...".
i was the one sitting there when she said that, half-way into a coma, and she sounded kind of surprised when she said that.
she was fanatic in her belief in jw-doctrine (although she was inactive the last few years of her life), and she fully believed that armageddon was coming "any day now".

We had a sister, who lived her whole life for "the truth" and pioneered, didn't get married or have children, in fact i'd sya she was still a virgin when she died at about 55 years of age.
She got the cancer and it took her out. Funny thing was that she got REAL angry. Wouldn't see anyone except her brother who had given up the dubs years ago.
Do you think she saw the absolute futility of her life? A life wasted? Promises unkept?
She could have married and had a family, there were plenty of offers when she was younger.
Yep a real waste. We understand how she felt.....totally. -

Updating the status of brothers on the Regional Building Committee
by truthseeker inanyone here who was removed from volunteering on the rbc?.
or did you remove someone yourself?.
a recent km announcement said that everyone on the rbc list of volunteers had to be updated.
-
geevee
Yep, secretary keeps these lists, copies of the application, and supposed to keep them up to date, only spiritual people please. Funny how if someone has a special ability, rules can bend to allow them to help with kh constructions.
The co gets a copy every time he comes to visit of the list, obviously the rbc have the major database.
Occasionally someone doesn't play ball properly and they have to be "removed".......sad sad sad...just enjoy all your free weekends and if you do work, GET PAID!!!
