URGENT - UK Elders (or elders wives)
by S EIGHT ini am in urgent need of a copy of a letter sent to uk elders in regard to weddings held at the kh and specific comments about the responsibilities of the brother giving the wedding talk.
i'm told this is a fairly recent letter.. we have an elder kicking up hell about innactive ones who want to come and watch the wedding.
he happens to be the one giving the talk and is acting like he has full control on this wedding.

Vitty,
I get the feeling that it is changing. The inactive could also be one of those dreaded apostates and could influence the flock! -

building commitee
by logic inis anyone familiar with the building commitee?
it appears that alot of hanky panky is going on here.
for instance, i know for a fact that some contractors have arrangements to be paid.

We did a Qb hall. We had one paid contractor who helped us with the ground plumbing. His wife at the time was studying. We didnt have any locals who could do the work and this guy kept his rate low.
The RBC did charge a fee for their services.
Later we had one of them move into our local cong. He was always moving receipts through the congregation account. He would get re-immbursed and the cong the claimed it back from the society somehow. [perhaps others know who and why?]
I saw some of the receipts he was claiming. Some for his dry cleaning and other things that most would just wear the cost themselves. It all seemed a bit suspect! -

While showing all due respect for his "authority" cant you ask to see the instruction to be certain? It sounds like he is overstepping things by making himself in charge of the reception. I formulated and outline from WT articles and BOE letters, that they probably still use locally, that specifically put the full responsiblilty on the Groom.
I would be wanting to see the letter. -

Welcome.........
You say you have been out for two years? I liked Junction-Guys reminder, that you have left an organization, not necessarily God. Find some ex-jw friends. Maybe you even know others who have left before you. At the time, you view their leaving in the JW context. Who knows wht they really left. Maybe they had their eyes opended and are in a position to be able to assist you?
Hang in there............ -

I dont have any specifics, but would say that the comment has been made as a general directive.
When I used to take the WT, it would get quite frustrating when no one would answer a simple question, or someone would answer the wrong thing for an obvious question. I said once "its not that hard, do I have to answer it myself!"
What an A-hole! [me that is]
You think that you are helping people to reason and grow. But you are only helping to dumb them down. Then the GB started setting questions to the articles in the KM's......that was really dumbing down the flock. I said to my brother, and I was still an elder: "They must think that we are stupid and cant work out what the main points are!"
He thought i was being disrespectful.

Hi all,
Havent been posting much lately, but thought I would on this subject.
I have bumped into people who left for various reasons. When we tell them that we no longer attend, it is a very rapid fire conversation from that point, the whole Revalations to Genesis....undoing the crap. Talking about some of the books we/they have read and things we have discovered along the way.
It is great to see them free their minds too as we are trying to do. Life opens up.
One guy who was DFed, was rumored to be gay. That seemed to make the local flock happy, and they could justify their dislike of him. Turns out he has happily remarried and has two children. Not too much gayness there!
Another girl has just married her non-dub boy friend. She supposedly took the easy road! How easy is it to walk away fromeverthing and everyone you have ever known!
Another young guy was viewed as just being a JW slacker. Turns out he was put off by elders abusing their so-called power. He saw and experienced hypocrisy first hand, like many here. He started to use his own brain, reasoned heaps out and now he and his wife and son are free! They even let their son celebrate his birthday! How normal is that?
A couple who were friends came by for a visit a year ago. He had been dumped as an elder and I thought this could be a good time to talk to him, as we had been out for nearly a year. They spent most of the time staring up into the corner of the room and looking off into space, and then got going as soon as they could. He is still chasing around trying to find out when they will re-appoint him as an elder. What a sad waste of valuable life. Do I wish they would find their way here and have the balls to read on for a while? Absolutely!
I wish my own brother and sister would take a moment to consider the "truth". -

Soooo ... they've been spying on us!
by bluesapphire inmy husband and i visited with an old friend who is about to be disfellowshipped and guess what he told us:.
car groups regularly drive by our house to check it out.
an elder said he saw ... gasp ... a christmas tree this past christmas (which he had to have snuck a look through a side window because our front windows always have the shutters closed!.

I guess they must. My brother accused us of having a christmas tree in the front window last christmas.....which we didnt, but someone made up a story and spread it to sound credible. We did have a small one inside this year. If anyone saw that they would have had to have broken into the house. Too much free time on their hands. They need to pray more, go to more meetings, do more personal study and go door knocking more.......I'd say.

Sorry Blondie, no article, only watched it on TV. The TV news usually cut that from the broadcast. She also ackowleged that the win was dedicated tp her sister who was killed 4 years ago. She spoke like This one is for you ......[name of sister]...
It msut drive the dubz mad when she does this, her brand os JWism seems different to the one I knew.
