  Life beyond JW -- A Worldly Wife asks......

  outside, looking in.... most, if not all of you, have chosen to leave the jw religion.

  many have simply stopped attending meetings or 'walked away'.

  although i have limited knowledge of the religion, i have come to understand and appreciate the reasons why folks have left and why their departure was done without formal notification of such; e.g.

  As a "worldly" person, however, I wonder how "I" as well as "yourselves" will know that when you've gone beyond the life ot a JW and become an, as you call it, "worldly" person?

  I detest the 'worldly' term so much because I see it as an ultimate divide created by leaders to instill fear, derision and prejudice in their followers. An us against them mentality. I'm a 'worldly' person so I've felt that prejudice up close and personal and to me, a JW has gone past that life when they can stop judging people and events based on the Watchtower beliefs and prejudices. sammieswife.

  Oliver Stone's New Film: World Trade Center

  tonight, i got to attend a sneak preview of the movie world trade center.

  i thought that it was an excellent movie.

  i highly recommend that everyone go see it.

  I haven't seen the movie - when it comes out on DVD I will. I did hear that Stone didn't actually put who the attackers (terrorists) were in the movie. Is this true? I've read some angry letters from people who saw the movie and they were really ticked off because they said that Stones intent at leaving out this information was in some way supporting the conspiracy theories. sammieswife.

  bill clinton interview on cnn about global poverty issues.

  i love some of the programs he talked about and showed during the interview - and i like the way he recognizes and puts some value on helping people up - i especially liked the program for the rural farmer where he gets 5 cows to start his farm up and after a specific amount of time, he in turn gives 5 of his now growing herd, on to the next guy to start his farm.

  giving people a hand is not giving them a hand out.

  Actually, the man given the cows, has to invest his money back into the farm to make it a go. One requirement is that he has to fence in his land himself so every time he got a little money, he bought a roll of fence and posts. Of course the whole interview was on poverty, how some people and communities become victims of it and discussion on our obligation, desire, ideas and challenges to help those people and communities to become self sufficient again. Anyone who could care less for those less fortunate or who choose to condemn those poor as lazy or ignorant, will have no interest in the interview, ideology or direction these groups are going. sammieswife.

  You Canadians are all right!

  well, i just got back back from my first visit to toronto and i must say, all the canadians i met were attractive, friendly articulate inviduals.

  as for the sights: i had a great time visiting the hockey hall of fame, cn tower, casa loma, kensington market, cafe diplamattico, the harborfront and that beautiful bar at the top of the park hyatt with the beautiful view of the night skyline.

  you ontarians know how to do it up right!

  Glad you had a good time MJ. How did Kensington look? Haven't wandered around down there for ages...the last time I was there it was on one of the hottest, most humid days in Toronto and packed full of people. One of the guys unloading a basket of live crab from the back of a truck, dropped it and the little critters were running all over - all the while the guy was screaming at everyone to step back from his crabs! sammieswife.

  "visitors from outer space reveal themselves, and make contact".

  now, i realize this is something seen on those supermarket tabloids all the times.

  what i am saying, is what if it was true and the networks had it on, cnn, foxnews, msnbc, etc.

  Nah...curious, interested, excited but not scared. I think maybe we are being too arrogant in our presumption that we are the only living societies in the universe - it's a big place out there and one that we've been able to explore little of. sammieswife.

  what is the punishment for cybersex?

  if they elders found out that a brother or a sister had a cybersex affaire outside of their marriage what would be the concequence for this.

  could that be df?.

  would it be seen as uncleaness or porneia?.

  Some elders that I know, never believed that it was a df'ing offense and they only held the JC's because the society told them they had to. Some sisters came forward and confessed but none were df'd - one was an Elders wife...lol. The men were a lot more cagey - none came forward. sammieswife.

His figures were interesting I thought as well - 11 million more in poverty in 2004 than in 2003 and this after the gain those people made 10 years ago. It's obvious to see where he stands in the Iraq issue when he quotes the dollars - 10 billion going to global poverty and 30x that amount going to the war. To bad Hilary doesn't have his charisma...sammieswife.

  it's been out a while and i know it's already been commented on here but i really enjoyed the village.

  the creation of fear and the control that it allows must surely strike a chord.. recently i saw christian bale in the machinist.
