- He states family members expelled from JW congregations are not treated differently by the family.
- He states JWs do not disdain disfellowshipped members or consider them all wicked and demonic.
- He states JWs are allowed to speak to disfellowshipped members.
- He states JWs do not use the word "shun" to describe DF/DA.
- He states the WT did not publish a child custody brochure.
- He states JWs say hello to disfellowshipped members they encounter . Rebel 8
I like 'honesty's' post as above....
I think we should all send a copy of the cd and this letter to the PO/Elder on the video just to let him know that we are all going to move to his congregation because it's quite obvious that he must have the 'truth' and not all the other congregations that actively engage in shunning. At the same time I think we should cc the letter and send additional copies to every other congregation - it's very confusing to a non JW. We call it the 'truth' but it's a web of lies...

Sounds like a positive step - good luck! I think first the desire to change and then the support to help you over the rough spots are 2 of the most crucial points in the journey. I'm not sure how bad your problem is or even if you have one - but I do know that living with a substance abuser impacts the lives of all those in the family. It alters their lives and leaves them coping with issues that sometimes scar deeply and forever. sammieswife.

Why did the JW's Shun my mother at her funeral?
by DaveNwisconsin inmy mom had died on december 9, 2005. she had been loyal to that religion for 35 years.
she had been in a nursing home for the last two years.
some of the old ladies would come and mom would still write a letter to a "not at home" once and awhile.

Sorry for your loss Dave....I wouldn't hesitate to ask them why no one attended and I also wouldn't hesitate to let them know how I felt. The insensitivity that I've seen in how JW's interact or react with people does absolutely nothing to draw me 'closer' and most especially how they interact or choose to not interact with family. I always wonder why any JW has children if their first family must always be the society - their allegiance, love and committment is always reserved for the organization at the expense of their blood relations...sorry about that bit of rant...sammieswife.

If your concern now rests with the access to your kids and not in trying to save your marriage, then recognize that you aren't divorcing your kids. Why not rent a house on the same block or if you are able, turn the basement into your own apartment with your own entrance. That way, you can both remain separate but accessible to the kids. I commend you both for having the maturity to discuss the issue rationally - many people going through divorce can't seem to do that. I've seen too many times where it wasn't the actual action of divorce that caused so many of the problems, but the attitude of one or the other of the parties during the process, that caused the damage - revenge, anger, disgust, manipulation...from both sides. sammieswife.

Interesting statement Moshe. It would be nice if those sorts of facts and figures would be tossed out there for everyone to hear during political debates - helps clear the mind a little. sw.
