I totally agree with you, but its tough to remember that when an old witness friend walks right by you in a supermarket with their nose up as if you aren't even there.. :)

Do those that shun us not love us?
by logansrun init is a mistake for former jehovah's witnesses to think that just because they are shunned by friends and family, they are no longer loved.
isn't shunning a horrible experience, one borne from twisted psychological reasoning?
mandated shunning from a powerful and misguided religious organization is a great sin against both the person shunned and those who are obliged, yes obliged, to shun them.

It must have been a shock for some people. I was attending all the meetings and field service as much as I could the few months before I left. I just never really bought into the doctrines for like over ten years prior, as much as I tried. The last assembly I was at I just looked around at everyone during a prayer and had a total epiphany that I was surrounded by people that were living in a dream world. During that prayer I felt like I was completely alone even though I was surrounded by thousands of people. It was scary. I just told myself that I would find out the truth about this religion at that point and I began intensely studying the core doctrines. I found out that 607 B.C was bullshit and decided that by continuing as a dub I would be partly responsible for the actions of the organization. I DA'ed a month later.

The next stage of the recovery process, farewell friends
by wanderlustguy ini had to stop back in for a little bit (taking a short break at work) to post something with some actual substance more than my occasional welcomes or one-liners.
not too long ago i posted a pair of angry tirades about how much i hated the organization that i feel was instrumental in taking from us the basic things we all are owed by our families.
i was so angry at them, hate would be an appropriate term for my emotions.

That letter reminded me of how difficult it was for me mentally and physically leaving the dubs. It was the hardest thing I had ever done.. but they all think I left to live a life of debauchery. It really is an evil, evil organization.

he was having a nose bleed and told his mom that the blood was running down the back of his throat.

:My family and I went to the beach and we were the only ones there. I think the earth stopped at that moment.
I really like that.
When I was about 5 years old I remember staring up at a street light with snow falling all around me.. I was mesmerized by the light and all the snow, and I just knew I would never forget that moment in time. I've never felt closer to God then that.
