If someone shows me a way to watch the movie without having a single penny go to MM, I'll watch it.

i just got home from bellaire, mi where the first us premiere screeing of sicko took place.
mm has shown the film to a few private groups, but he specifically said that we were the first "paying group" to see it.
there were two showings - i got to see the first showing at 1:00.. first let me say that this film is not political in any way.
If someone shows me a way to watch the movie without having a single penny go to MM, I'll watch it.

do you think the scientists, doctors and pharmeceutical companies know of a cure for cancer that they're not telling us?
when you consider the leaps and bounds in medical discoveries that we've made in the last 50 years, it seems incredible that they're still using chemotherapy and radiation as the treatment for cancer.. while i was one of the lucky one who has survived cancer (so far), it's always in the back of my mind that it could return.
we all have friends who died before their time because of this rotten disease, yet the only progress that seems to have been made is that they can now 'detect' it earlier, which of course gives you a much greater chance of survival.. there have been stories of people who have been cured through alternative medicine, yet no one in the medical field seems to be interested in anything other than chemo or radiation.
Awesome question Mary. This is sure to be another thirty or so page'er.
I don't believe a cure for cancer has been discovered at all, as yet.

so what rock bands (or any other groups) did you miss out on seeing back in the 60's, 70's, 80's, due to being in the organization?.
who of you sneeked to a concert, and which groups were they?.
c'mon...you know you wanted to see led zepplin!
I've always gone to everything I've wanted to see, but I do remember an old buddy of mine having a huge crisis of faith over whether or not to attend a Ministry concert with me, as it was his favorite band. He talked it over with his wife, who told him it was up to him but to "always remember Jehovah is watching". He even discussed it with an elder who discouraged him against it as he was reaching out to become an MS. His eyes were red around the edges and his eyeballs glistening with tears when he told me that he had decided it was against his "Bible trained conscience" to go. He used those words.
I sent him a cell phone pic of myself and another buddy after we had just smoked up at the show laughing our asses off and having a great time.

what is the real reason why kingdum halls don't have windows?
to people on the outside looking in that is just too wierd and very cult like like they have something to hide.
wasn't in the 80's when they started to build them without windows?
Because I might be holding a rock. Kidding.

if a jw is an ardent believer, and faithfully practices his or her religion, are they, in your mind, "bad" or "evil", in reality?
I think if they continue to practice when they have heard or read apostate material they aren't really being "good" people.. whatever that means. I don't have much use for Witnesses that go door to door and attend all the meetings just for their friends and family when they realize their beliefs are BS.

i've owned two different ipods including the video ipod.. i own two different iriver products including the new iriver clix2 (mp3 player, video player, digital recorder and fm radio.).
to me the iriver is the clear winner on all fronts.
(cheaper, too).. briefly: iriver allows multiple file formats and drag and drop file use.
Hey Terry, I have an 80 gig IPod and I am really loving it. Don't really have any problems with ITunes like a lot of you guys sound like you are having. I find the biggest plus I'm getting with my IPod are all the awesome podcasts I have subscriptions for. Most of them are weekly news or special interest bits that download to my IPod and automatically delete after I have listened to them. No complaints here.

in mesquite, texas, sabrina ballantine says she was fired from razzoo's for refusing to sing happy birthday.
she is a jw, who does not believe in celebrating birthdays and singing this song.. "razzoo's settles lawsuit over religious firing.".

: i was happy when i read the other thread about some stupid jw dying from child birth , b/c of blood.
This is one of the most fucked up things I have ever read on this board. I'm as hardline as you are on a lot of JW related issues Johnny but, are you serious about this? Anyone that dies because they refuse a blood transfusion is a completely dyed in the wool cultist, and a victim. It's your opinion to have and I'm not criticizing you as a person but HOLY SHIT man.

The thing that would piss me off as an employer would be that she hadn't told them in advance that she would not be able to sing happy birthday. If she didn't realize that would be part of her job before applying she must have been living under a rock. Suing them sure gave a good "witness", too.
