My situation
by The Grand Poobah inabout the begginning of last year i was just getting out of depression, and was having serious doubts about "the truth" seeing how i was never really involved in it i felt as though it didnt help me through my depression.
i currently am 18 and still live with my parents who are still going to meetings.
i go with them to the meetings when i am not working, but i am going mostly for them, and i dont think they know that i am even slightly interested in the religion(i am not even baptised).

Another Death due to blood refusal
by Hondo indid anyone watch the medical reality show, "critical hour", about a week ago?
for those that have never watched it before it follows the first few hours of emergency treatment of actual victims of car accidents, gun shot wounds, normal accidents, etc.
one of the victims of the show of a week or so ago was a elderly woman (70+), and a jehovah witenss.

Hi, welcome.
You are absolutely right. The reason they are so staunch in their belief's is that they are hooked on the concept of 'the truth'. They have been craftily led into accepting everything that a small group of men in Brooklyn have to say about the Bible. If you are really interested in how people get hooked into this shit, keep reading posts from this board. It is incredibly sad, its the reason I chose to be shunned by all my JW friends. The JW's are a well publicised cult. -

Why do we expexct Jehovah to be nice to people?
by Gill inwho said god had to be nice to anyone?
i was just reading gumby's thread on 'a big old lie' he'd found in the bible.. as far as i got reading, folks were discussing jehovah killing everyone most of the time and i suppose threatening to do again in the future, according to the wtbts.
but why do we expect god to be nice to people?
-

I don't expect him to be nice to people. If the God of the old testament is out there I expect him to kill based on whatever justice scale he's drempt up.. and since we have no evidence that he's even around there is no point in caring anyway.

Fighting carrots with carrots....MY turn to hold the stick!
by AloneinOh inlately i have been working on a letter to my parents to try and explain my life and what brought me to this point.
i have been out for 20yrs now but jw beliefs were still always in my head and had an influence on my life up until now.
never had a birthday party, never had a christmas celebration, and even refused blood transfusions twice (idiot!).

Suppose Brooklyn Changed The Rules On Disfellowshipping?
by Englishman insuppose the society "adjusted their thinking" on the matter of disfellowshipping.
would you still feel so angry with the witnesses?
it occurs to me that df'ing is the bottom line when it comes to being obedient.
-

There is no way they are going to get rid of disfellowshiping. If anything they will try to make the rules tighter and demonize 'apostates' even more, especially now that the numbers are dropping so much. If they allow them to associate with people who know better they'll lose even more members. You have to give up you're brain to stay a witness.

Blood taking...is it a disfellowshipping offence or up to conscience.
by Gill incan you tell me whether the taking of blood is a conscience matter or a disfellowshipping matter?.
i ask this because i have just come away from a heated discussion with my parents and they insist that taking blood or blood products has always been a matter of conscience and no one has ever been disfellowshipped for taking blood.
they say that a question was raised at the service meeting over the new blood card/documents whether taking blood fractions was breaking gods law and the presiding overseer j.h said that taking blood has always been a conscience matter and never was anyone disfellowshipped for it.. is this true?

What really gets my goat is how the GB tries to make the reader feel that Witnesses can individually choose what ever they want as far as blood fractions go, but that they UNANIMOUSLY all agree that whole blood transfusions are wrong. They are being told what THEY believe! It's all in the way they word things. The average joe blow witness doesn't know shit about blood fractions or even the societys stand on taking them. All they know is that they have the 'truth' and that everyone deciding not to be a JW is wrong. It blows my mind.

'This Generation'
by fairchild inyes, again... after reading numerous posts on this site and doing some research on my own, i have a strong feeling that my whole belief will soon stand or fall with the understanding of 'this generation'.. matthew 24:3 .."tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?".
matthew 24:7 for nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another.. matthew 24:34 truly i say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.. .
generation:noun: group of genetically related organisms constituting a single step in the line of descent noun: the normal time between successive generations example: "they had to wait a generation for that prejudice to fade".

One: are you suggesting that she should remain studying with JW's? Don't you consider it a destructive false religion? For God's sake, people DIE from following the society's rules. They shun people who are disfellowshiped like they are useless pieces of shit. What exactly are you saying here?
