Realizing I won't be going for the first time is very strange. I think I'm gonna go out for beer and wings.

truthseeker made a good thread explaining just how much time we actually do spend in the "cult".
most of us couldn't do everything that was expected.
were you one of the guilty ones??

they will not give up!!
i live a ways away from my old congregation and i work with a couple of active witnesses who know i'm inactive.
so, i've been bombarded with phone calls and asked by my co-workers to go to the memorial.
You are in a really tough spot working with dubs and doing the fade. From their perspective they think they are saving you from eternal damnation. I have no idea what you could say that would be better than saying you are going with your family.

You can disprove so many of their beliefes that the religion becomes the equivalent of worshiping the toothfairy. Apart from pulling God (if there is one) down from heaven and asking him personally thats all the proof you need that this religion is bullshit.
Don't be afraid to confront your cherished beliefs too. I found that after reading CoC I felt that I had found solice in Christianity. But that isnt enough if you are really wanting to dig and find out the truth about things. If you research the history of the Bible, the way it was written and what it was really based on you will find that your beliefs are often just a crutch, an illusion. Its scary at first but in the end things start to piece together and make sense. You lose a feeling of certainty, but at the same time you become open to the possiblities of anything.. and it brings peace in knowing that all humanity are in the same race together. Its soo empowering.

i don't see the point in doing this, but if it will make my bf happy i'm willing to do it.
Wear a clove of garlic around your neck and have a wooden stake in your purse just in case.

jehovah's witnesses have recently done an about-face on their teachings about god, the bible, creation and evolution, and are about to announce major changes in their teachings on these things.
on their website, they say that "faith in god is merely an emotional experience.
" "god is not an explanation" of the universe, they now teach.. as regards the question of origins, "our universe is all a matter of chance.

i don't post a lot about my personal life here anymore but i have a situation that i'd like some feedback on.. i have been dating a for about 5 months.
she is a university professor, originally from madrid spain, speaks 3 languages, quite an interesting and intelligent lady.
however, i have also come to find that she is very insecure and somewhat childish emotionally.. she has brought up marriage several times, and i have tried to keep her at bay on this subject, as i just don't know if the relationship has that kind of feeling or not.. the problem is, i don't know what that feeling is supposed to be.
I would run like hell brother. For her sake.

they said it would come in 1975. they were wrong!
just like moses at the waters of meribah they presumed to speak for god when they had no business.
god made israel wait 40 years until moses died, and he is doing the same today!
:Seriously - I have heard some Witnesses make this speculation (in relation to 2015, of course)
Seriously, we don't doubt that.

.
seeing this is the 5th anniversary of jwd, i was curious as to how many who still post here, were dyed in the wool jws, but later sucumbed to "the truth about the truth" .
were an active/semi-active jw, and this site and others were enough to convince you that your doubts had substance.
:what is a Witness to do???
He could stop posting on this thread.

I was freshly inactive with tons of doubts when I started lurking here. Disassociated a couple months before I started posting. Now I usually visit every day when theres nothing to do at work.
