ok, i'm attempting to collect a list of jw wrongs in this thread so i can give it to my parents.

i haven't been here long enough to know some of the inside information that you guys have, so any contributions would be welcomed.

so me, matt and alllll of our friends were at the blue monkey (a bar in memphis), and we were just sitting around, munching on pizza and throwing back beers.

all in all, it was great.

i basically just wanted to get the point through that i was perfectly happy and that i didn't need the dubs to have fun and have friends.

i was just wondering if anyone could give me the proper procdure on throwing someone out of the hall?

i recently found out that a good friend of mine was basicly kicked out of the hall.

she was raised in the truth but then decided not to go to the meetings anymore.

The witnesses are a cult. Steer clear of them. The situation with your friend is the result of a clamp down in the organization to punish all dissenters.. they have too many dirty secrets to hide and they have to make sure people who might know the truth (your friend) don't spill it to the remaining dubs. BTW, welcome to JWD.

there is a precident for the jws becoming more hard-lined: the exclusive brethren.

prior to 1959 the exclusive brethren, whilst conservative, tended to have a more open outreach and even allowed some fraternizing with non-members.

however, following directions from their leaders in 1959, they suddenly slammed closed the doors, introducing beliefs such as: refusing to eat meals with anyone who was not a member and (this makes me sick) automatically breaking up families if one spouse questioned the authority of the leaders.

The first time I read about the Exclusive Brethern the similarities to the Shitnesses blew me away. It's one of the best cults to refer dubs to to see the mind control tactics, them and the Scientologists.

it saddens me to say that a witness i am studying with, and whom i like a lot, is not living up to the teachings and morals of the bible.

my conscience troubles me about whether i should take action myself, or report him to other elders.

Witnesses sit next to me at the theater last night

had a bizzare experience last night.

i went to see the movie mr. and mrs. smith (which, by the way, was pretty decent).

my girlfriend and i showed up about 20 minutes before the show started, so we picked out some seats and then each went to the restroom in turn while the other watched the seats.

I got hardcore shunned recently at an airport. I always try to make eye contact and smile, but I give em their space or whatever.. I don't push a conversation. Anyways this girl looked like she had seen a ghost or something - absolute horror, and booted it for the nearest exit when we made eye contact! What was particularly funny about the chick is that we've talked before I left the BOrg about how she has done so much shit that she could be disfellowshiped for but just decided she woudn't confess to the elders because she didn't know any of them very well and it was over a year ago. The hypocracy was just classic funny/sad.

you imagine i could just say that i'd be tempted by all the half dressed young women walking around dripping wet with their feet showing and it wouldn't be good for me as a brother since i have an active imagination and a foot fetish?

i have been df for a nummber of years now and have recently been doing research via the web for the past few weeks.

mostly because my new husband has been also doing his own research because i have been saying for years i want to go back, but never have and he had questions about the religion that he didnt understand.

the only time i ever go to the hall is for the memorial.

i posted this on another thread....but as usual, when i posted it, the thread died and so i thought i'd put it under a different subject as it's worth re-reading.. the society has always said nobody is the judge who commits the dreaded...."unforgivable sin", but they sure the hell do not having any trouble making a statement concerning apostates as commiting the unforgivable sin.. 1982 watchtower 4/1 p.26-28 .

" jesus told the unrepentant scribes and pharisees that they and their gentile proselytes were subjects for gehenna or, literally, sons of gehenna.
