i guess this is my introductory post.. like many of you, i was raised as a witness.. like many of you, i'm no longer associated with them.. it still hangs over me like a plague.
it's really annoying.
i haven't been to a meeting in 4 years, i'm "out of the closet" - my parents know i'm no longer interested, my oldest brother won't talk to me... etc.
:Always felt that whatever i said or did would be judged or criticised, so couldn't really open up and talk about anything and everything to folk.
Ain't that the truth. 28 years of censoring myself. If you make the effort to make at least one new friend every month its surprising how much better you can feel about the world.

You're right LittleToe, point taken. I mis-phrased my reply. And and I wasn't implying that evolution explains why somebody would ever want to rape a five month old actually. My point in copying that quote was that I could never believe something so heinous would be allowed by a caring God.

LouBelle, please do some research into the origins of the Bible. If you see the parallels in ancient myths with the Bible, the political climate of the time, how the Bible books were compiled, and a basic understanding of Evolution - you have to come to the conclusion that there is no caring diety as we've been told. It makes more sense, its easier to comprehend, and there really is peace in it.

i never did, although i did tell my former bible student/tennis partner that the bible does not condemn celebrating birthdays or recommend celebrating anniverseries.
he told his jw brother who told his elders who told my po.
when the po asked me about the conversation, i told him he asked me some questions and i truthfully answered., i said, "nothing i said was wrong or incorrect".
I always tried to make them think. Didn't work. I would get them to the point where they would say their little canned responses and then I would just stop talking, hoping to get them to realize how stupid what they were saying was just by my silence alone.
