  A funny way to stop the door knockers!

  my last 2 posts have been so sad that i thought i would tell you about something that i remembered once when the jw"s came a calling.

  i guess it would have been funny if it wasn't so darn embarassing!

  when i was younger i was trying to 'get fit' and had taken to doing aerobics in my loungeroom.

  y'all may not see nearly as much of me anymore.

  as i already stated, i only come here while i am at work.

  the job i have now gave me alot of free time on my hands.

  I am amazed at how a person can be stared right in the face with all the lies and falicies of the JW faith and still consider it to be truth. I can understand this with those who have not searched but you evidently have searched or you would not of joined here at JWD and yet you still believe them. You apparently have not believed anyone here as you still support the JW faith.

  There are many fine people here at JWD from all around the globe, people who have been hurt by the JW's in one way or another and those who had the guts to search for the real truth. Yes there are some here who choose not to continue their belief in God but that is their choice and most of it from the destruction they have endured from the Society. But these have at least enough strength and enough brains to see not only the brain washing but the lies they were taught. I consider all these to be smart people.

  I feel soory for you def'd because you are obviously completely brain washed and I do not mean that in a bad way either. But here you have been shown the lies and falicies of the JW faith and yet you still support them, I have thoughts about people like that but I will keep them to myself here. My only hope for you is that you can get a grip on your knowledge and realize that you are being controlled and lied to, hopefully someday we will hear you say " I QUIT"

  What's with my Mom and the NWT?

  before i left the org, i decided to start doing my personal bible reading in a translation other than the nwt.

  my mother seemed bothered by this, wanting to know why i didn't want to use the nwt, describing why she greatly preferred it to other translations, and generally adopting a worried look whenever i mentioned the topic.

  i talked to her this morning and she turned the conversation into a q&a session on a bible i was looking for in a local bookstore.

  I remember a few years back I had a discussion with my mother about their bible. I asked her who says that the NWT is the only accurate translation ? She stated to me that there was a group of people (bible scholars) that approve the bible translations. So I asked her who was this group ? She could not or would not say. So I decided to investigate this myself. I use a NIV for my studies and I had found that Scofield was the ones who were the ones responsible for my NIV translation. So I went into the Scofield web site and found a link to send a email. I wanted to ask without giving any answers or ideas that I was looking for info about the NWT. This is what I wrote : To Whom it Concerns, I have been searching for a group of people who approves bible translations either private, government or non-profit. After careful consideration to all the translations of the bible I was curious who was the most accurate translation out there. Their reply, Dear sir, Thank you for your question. To answer your question. There is no group of people that approve translations of the scriptures. Bibles are translated through different churches and I must tell you that the NWT is the most dangerous translation. It is considered dangerous because they have added and taken away from the original translations in order to fit their doctrine. This person had said other things about the translation but his main purpose was that the NWT was a lie. I never said anything in my email but got the answer i was looking for. I was amazed that I had gotten the answer I did. I went back to my mother with this info and all she could say was all worldly people are just trying to degrade the troof and attack the JW believers because worldly people know that it is the troof. I could not help myself from laughing at how stupid that sounded. Needless to say my mother does not speak to me any more and it does not bother me in the least. But I found what I needed to know and now she knows it. I would suggest asking your mom to do the same as those with Scofield are scholars of the bible and know their stuff pretty well. Tell her to ask without giving any ideas as to what she is looking for, she will get her answer, it will not be what she wants to hear but maybe, just maybe she will begin to look into the troof even harder. The last paragraph in the bible say's that anyone who changes, adds to or takes away from these words shall be doomed.

  WHAT DOES HAPPEN AFTER DEATH????

  we all know the jw view on what happens at death.

  however a friend of mine lost a very young son and went to a medium.

  the medium told her the name of her son without knowing anything about her or even knowing that she had a child that died.

  After reading Robyns thread, I can see that you are a very strong person. That is a plus when overcomming illness. I pray for your strength. I ask God to heal your cancer and make you well. I well believe faith does heal.

  So I ask in the name of Christ and the blood he shed on the cross to heal you of your cancer and to make a speedy recovery for you. Gods Speed outnfree.....

  in my congregation it is frowned apon.

  a male can have one but he wouldnt get any privilidges and would probably be labeled the black sheep.

  Oh the pictures, they show Jesus with a beard ? Yes they do but they also show him with long hair. In those days there were only one group of people that had long hair and it were not the Jews. I do not remember who they were but it is written in the scriptures. So using those pictures is not a good stand to use as evidence.

  Is it possible that a child molester is NOT a pedophile?

  i realize many here have (unfortunately) much more experience with this sort of thing than i do.

  any personal insight, or direction to research material, would be appreciated.. there was a letter to all boes about 8-10 years ago, saying that if an appointed elder had any incidents of child abuse in his history, he had to step forward & admit such, so that his status as an elder could be reviewed.

  none of the elders in this congregation said anything.. it was later (maybe 5 years ago) discovered that one of the elders had sexually abused his daughters some time in the 80's, before his appointment.
