Honestly? I'm not sure. I certainly don't miss the stress of juggling two jobs, meetings, preparations for the meetings, etc... But there are times when I do miss going to the meetings. I miss going to the gas station on the highway after the meetings, buying hot dogs and piling them up with every condiment available. I miss taking one of the elderly JWs out for lunch once a week and wonder if anyone does that now, or if she is just left on her own. I miss the people I used to hang out with a lot, some of them have left a void. In a way, I miss "Jehovah", but then I remember how I "called upon" Him all the time and He never bothered to listen. However, I am happy, because it is my nature to feel happy. I don't get sad too easily.

Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact title of the topic. It was posted some time between January 2005 and July 2005. It was about songs. I found "Most favorite song of all time" in the entertainment forum, but that was not it. Within the topic, people posted the lyrics to their favorite songs. (It might have been "saddest songs" or something like that.
I am looking for the lyrics of one particular song. It was about a little boy who aksed his grandfather (or his grandmother) why things were different in the old days. Does anyone remember the topic, or does anyone know that song?
Thanks a bunch.

So far, I have offered my COC book twice, but did not find anyone who wanted or needed it. I finished it a few months ago, and now it is just collecting dust. I live in Upstate new York. Anyone who would like it, please send me a pm. I will be going to the post office around the 20th of this month and can mail it that day.

How do I find contentment and peace during this part of my life when I have so little to hang my hat on or to feel proud of? How do I live the rest of my life without despair and remorse over the lost opportunities and the unrealized potential?
Everyone has lost opportunities. Everyone has remorse. There was a day when we thought that we were going to rise above all ordinary mortals. We were going to leave a great print. We were going to give the world a part of ourselves, then grow wings and fly away. But then, we found ourselves halfway and many of the things we were going to do never happened. Many wonderful ideas lost their fragrance like flowers in late summer. I can't speak for anyone else, but to me, the contentment and the peace came almost suddenly, when I accepted that I can't change the past.

Feeling like chopped liver.
by bebu inmy son's best friend's parents attend a really whacky religious group, similar in some respects to the jws.
simply replace armageddon with hell, and there ya go!
i have just shrugged at it; they've been nice enough to me, very friendly.. this evening, their son asked me if he might be able to spend the night and go with my son to the youth group at our church in the morning.

If you confront her, he may be forbidden to hang out with your family.
So true. How old is their son? How far away from his 18th birthday?

Now in my 40's I am finding it very hard to make and keep friends and I can't really figure out why. Have any of you had this experience as you have grown older?
Yes, I have had the same experience. I just turned 43 last week. I have always been a loner, but the past few years, I have secluded myself so much that it worries me at times. Unlike you, I don't really feel a need for friends. I love being by myself more than anything else. I love listening to my music, writing, looking at the stars, going for walks, working in the garden, I love anything, as long as I can do it by myself. I have a few friends though, but I don't contact them nearly as often as I should. When I'm at work, I long to be home, by myself.. It's gotten so bad that I have been thinking about not working anymore, and trying to find a job which I can do from home. I used to go to the city once a week to do my grocery shopping, but I have come to dread so much being around people that I go to the city once a month now. (and I still dread it). I'd be extremely happy living way far out in the woods all alone.

I just wonder if this scrap has any relation to Quotes' case recently. Do they try to shift this Old-Fashion "Generation" back to blame Quotes?
This might be far fetched, but I was thinking along the same lines. Are they up to something? Why would they put this 1914 stuff back on their website? They have been avoiding the 1914 thing for quite some time now. I had to go and read it for myself, because I could not believe it. Something doesn't add up here.

From my seadna collection..
Tell me facts about the towers,
touch the place where people fell,
we weep their names but can’t resume
deeper words than tombs will tell.
