What's up.... am I not worthy?

i've lived in my new house for a year and a half... in a nice newer neighborhood, in town.. the dubs have never been to my house and i've never seen them in the neighborhood.

i'm home almost all day every day!.

i've had the mormons here 3 times.

Shania is right.. it seems that they don't knock on doors as often as they used to. Blondie gave a real good suggestion.. check with your neighbors. It might be that they just really haven't been in that neighborhood in a very long time. It is also possible that they had really bad experiences in that nieghborhood. See, there's a particular street not far from where I live where the JWs NEVER go door to door. I don't know the details, but I know that they were threatened there by several people a few years ago. Instead of a do-not-call-on door, they have a whole do-not-call-on street. True story.

Oh, and check your doorbell, the mice might have gnawed on the wires, perhaps it doesn't work.

If your doorbell works and the neighbors get the JWs to visit them often, then you'll know where you stand. Poooooor thing. I'll come and visit you, how's that?

When I just posted a comment about our 14 year old daughter loving Friday the 13th, I just noticed that was my 250th Post, which moved me from "Junior Member" to "Senior Member".
Maybe our daughter is right, that Friday the 13th is a lucky day! Now I'm a believer! Wahooo!

Haha, see? Friday the 13th has been good to you. Dragged you right out of the junior label!

we are now approaching the year 2005, i am again going to all the meetings and most of my friends are jw's.

however, i don't feel that 'love' for god, and i certainly don't feel that he listens when i pray, which i do every day.

after talking about this with an elder, he suggested i study some more, and i am currently studying the book 'worship the true god'.

Crumpet and Pennycandy, Leaving the org didn't actually leave a visible void perse. I'm one of those people who could use days that contain 40 hours instead of 24. Always too much to do. I really had to make lots of efforts to find time to attend all the meetings and other JW related events. Many times, I'd come right from work, change clothes in the car, go to the meeting, change clothes in the car again and go back to work after the meeting. In that aspect, not going to the meetings has made my life much more simple. It is more of a spiritual emptiness that I'm feeling.

However, I don't feel that 'love' for God, and I certainly don't feel that he listens when I pray, which I do every day. Everybody is always real nice to me at the kingdom hall and I like hanging out with people after the meetings. Yet, in my mind there's this little voice that says I'm not worthy and Jehovah does not approve of me.

A thousand posts later..

The above is a part, taken out of my first post on JWD. A thousand posts later, things have changed a bit. JWD offered some eye-opening thoughts here and there, enough to see that I was walking along the wrong path. I stopped going to the meetings two weeks after my initial post on JWD, but made one exception for the memorial, which I attended. I brought my own bread to the memorial and ate it while the emblems were being passed around. The Lord did say "do this in remembrance of me", He did not say "Just pass it around and let only my chosen ones partake". I stored my "true worship" book with some old books in the basement. I also bought a King James version of the bible and put the NWT aside. I've had my doubts and have even considered going back to the meetings, in spite of the things learned on JWD. One of the things that kept me from going back is the fact that not a single one of the JWs has called or stopped by, asking why I'm not going to the meetings anymore, or simply asking how I am doing. They don't seem to care about a person's well being, all they care about is another number to count for meeting attendance. Am I happier? No, I'm not, and I actually miss going to the meetings. Against better judgment, I still feel as if I have failed somewhere along the road. God still does not listen to my prayers, and I still don't feel the "love" for God. It's been a long journey, thank you all for walking with me for a little while.

Daily reading book-don't know the formal name.

i haven't picked up any publication of my husband's for a long time.

this morning i was up early, and decided to take a look at today's reading, as the book is always on the kitchen table.

sorry i don't remember the name of the book (daily reading??).

Haha, that reminds me of a nice experience. I used to read the daily text every morning, just like I was supposed to do. Then, once upon a time I went mountain climbing with two pioneers and two elders. (Myself, I was just studying the bible with the JWs) As we were halfway up the mountain, sitting down and having lunch, I mentioned the 'daily text' for that day. It was obvious that only one of the elders and none of the pioneers had read it. Given, we had left very early in the morning, and they might not have had time, but it was pretty embarrassing to them that their student caught them in such a way.

Sigh. We had a very deep frost overnight and about half of my (commercial) garden froze. That's a lot of work and money down the drain. But hey, it could have happened on the 14th as well.

Lulu.com is really cool. They will print anyone's book on demand. So it doesn't have the start up costs like printing it yourself would have.

Oops, I should have read the whole thread before running my mouth. POD (publish on demand) is even worse, the royalties are much lower. The going start up rate for POD is around $2,000

I feel a bit sorry for the author of the book. Think about it. It is directed toward a specific audience. Let's say we have 6 million witnesses. No female witness will buy this book, because following every step in the book is still not going to make her an elder, so why bother.. Now we're down to an audience of about 3 million (most likely less). The book is published in English (subtract all the ones who don't speak English). Now subtract the ones who are already elders, the ones who will never even know of the existence of this book, the ones who don't want to be an elder, and the ones who don't know how to read... who is left? A hundred people perhaps? No major publishing house will publish a book which is directed towards a small audience. So the author of this book must have self-published it. This means that he has spent anything between $500 and $10,000 to get the book published. Even with 50% royalties, (which in reality would amount to less than 50 cents per book, after subtracting the store discount, publishing cost, etc.. ) he'll still burn his fingers financially, just to get this book out there.

employees from hell

how many are managers/supervisors and have to deal with one or two employees who are complete and udder nightmares, i.e.

not staying in their desk, always behind, always a crisis and have to leave work, has a smart-ass attitude when counseling or cries when you tell them what they need to be doing?

i have one that my boss hired as soon as i was promoted and i have to manage that employee and my boss knew about this person was when they was hired!!

As has been said in several of the above posts, it is true that there's always at least one. You can get rid of this one, but then another one will start acting up and throwing tantrums, you can count on it. The best thing to do is not to give this person too much attention. When the person feels that the little tantrums, the calling in sick, etc... don't seem to direct all the attention in his or her direction, this person is likely to move on to another job where he or she can get more attention. Of course, all work places are different, but let me tell you, where I work there is absolutely no tolerance for anything at all. Calling in sick, arriving at work late, not doing your job exactly right, not ironing your uniform, or having a dirty spot on it, talking back to the managers, receiving a phone call at work (unless it is an emergency), all such things and much, much more are considered "offences". You get written up for an offence and you lose a shift the next week. You can only get written up twice, the third time you're fired. Just yesterday and today, I had to fill in for two of my co-workers. They got written up and lost a shift for forgetting to put ice on the lobster tails in the cooler. I have been working at that place for a year and a half now, and other than me, there are only 9 people still there of the 30 people who worked there when I started my first shift. Some quit, but most were fired for "offences". This might seem extreme, but the pay is better than good and when you work hard, they definitely show appreciation. Not that I agree with such strict rules, but I do have to admit (reluctantly), that there's a lot less bullshit than at other places where I've worked.
