everything i know is my own minds invention/creation.. i have never known a moment when i did not exist and never shall.. i know everything there is to know in my own mental universe.. just because i cannot control what my own mind invents does not make me less god, as i did not create myself but have always existed as far as i know and so have never had any say in my true nature or how it works.. i am like brahma-- reality dreaming about itself.. i am the generator of dreams or g.o.d..

Summer of 1992, I was in a greyhound bus station in Cleveland Ohio and had to wait until 2 in the morning for a connecting bus to Syracuse, NY. I had traveled all the way from Colorado and was dead-tired. Decided to take a nap. There was an Amish man sitting on the bench next to me who was waiting for the same bus. I asked him to wake me up when the bus arrived, he said he would. I fell asleep and happened to wake up at the right time. Turned out the bus to Syracuse had arrived, it was full and there was only one seat left, it was either him or me. So he had decided not to wake me. Since he had already jumped on the bus, I had to wait another 6 hours for the next one. I don't like the Amish. Just out of spite, if walmart makes parking spots for them, I'm going to park my behind and my cat right in their spot.
i was on the beth sarim jw reform site today and read some interesting threads from all sorts of folks, including some bible students (you know, of the ones that started off the watchtower but refused to follow the apostate rutherford when he succeeded in his legal coup for control when russell died).
i never could understand the doctrine of the paradise earth hope, which the jws seem to confuse with the millennial kingdom.
anyway, i stole a bit of someones post which i found interesting:there is not one scripture that relegates the hope for those who follow jesus in the narrow way to anything but heaven?
Im not as cute as my name sounds he he
You're not? Darn. Oh well, what's essential is not visible to the eye, only with the heart can we see (Antoine De Daint Exupery)
Been browsing for a bit on that Beth Sarim site, I also registered but haven't posted anything.
and i was scheduled to be either dead or petting lions.
something's messed up .
this message brought to you by the year 1957 and the word "maybe".
I just petted my cat, she almost looks like a lion.

Jaffa, wow, those quotes are mind blowing. I couldn't help thinking of what would happen, should someone print them out, (clearly quoting that they are from the WT, and inviting the reader to check for themselves) and put the printouts on people's chairs at a convention. This would sow a ton of disarray. Sorry, nasty thoughts..
That site, JWR, I like their general thought of following the JW teachings without following the GB, but it makes me wonder... what about the teachings such as "this generation", 607 BCE, etc.... I noticed that you are a recent member there. perhaps we will learn more about them in the near future. I really like the idea, just wondering about the 'wrong' teachings.. I will be browsing there some more. BTW, I like "ralphy", lol, it's cute.
recently, i've been reading through the international bible student's website.
i really like it and i'm reading as much as i can in order to get familiar with them.. however, i don't understand where exactly they came from.
they mention the name "charles russell" often and they also have some pictures of him on their site.
"this generation" was Rutherford's thing. The Bible Students believe that Christ returned in 1874 and has been present ever since. The generation that saw 1874 has been 6 feet under for quite some time now! But I'd like to know how they interpret that particular passage. Also, 1914 was supposed to be the establishment of the earthly part of the kingdom and the end of all church and state leadership, when the 144K were transferred to heaven. I don't know what they presently believe is the significance of 1914 since it didn't happen! Maybe they somehow explain that this transfer of power is just taking a long, long time?
hmm.. I'm hoping to find out soon, and I'll let you know. This might be pretty interesting..
Happy Dad, thank you! I will pm RR today. Wow, quite some place, Beth Sarim, huh? I wonder who lives there now? Does anyone know who they sold it to? I know it was sold in 1950 or there around.
ok..discussions are being raised about child abuse..sexually and physically.i thought about alternatives to staying in the home.
calling the police evertime you are threatened or the children or beat.. .
if the mother is young..has no schooling..has several kids..no family or friends..how does she cope?
Golden girl,
Because of many troubles at home (I can't even begin to explain), I was taken away and put in an orphanage at age 10. I was separated from my siblings and was moved from orphanage to orphanage, mainly because I needed "special care" due to severe back injury as well as malfunction of my organs, caused by starvation when I was about 9. (don't worry, I am 42 now and completely fine).I spent 4 years in orphanages, then was put in foster care for about a year. My foster parents moved out of the country and could not take me with them because of legal issues. (my mother was "wanted" for endangering my life and for kidnapping, she fled the country and I was not allowed out of the country until they would find her). So I ended up in orphanage care again. I ran away from the orphanage at age 17, not because it was bad there, but because I just wanted my own home. Although there were ups and downs, in general I must say that I was always treated well at the orphanages. Of course it was not, and would never be "home", but I did not experience, nor did I ever see the horrors some talk about (like being beaten up or abused), none of that ever happened to me or to any of my peers. To this day, I am still in contact with two of the caretakers who worked at the last orphanage I was at. Those people were all nice and caring and I have no complaints at all. What i did see was a fair amount of kids who could not accept the fact that they didn't have a mom or a dad, and they would be constantly depressed and often get themselves in trouble. As they say, negative attention is better than no attention at all. In an orphanage, it is very important to understand that you are on your own and that such places are often understaffed, so you can't expect the same attention one would have at home. There was a time when I felt sorry for myself and thought that I had lost my childhood. But thinking of it now, I played and had fun, just like everyone else. Different is not necessarily bad, it is just what it is... different.

hi jaffa, thank you for the link and yes, I am interested in the quotes. Don't worry I will be careful (I think). I was aware of the fact that Russell had close connections with the adventists. What I'm interested in is to find out if the international bible students have changed their doctrines in the past, and what exactly they have to say about the bible in our modern times. It seems kind of neat though, to have a group which studies the bible without actually being an "organization". This is actually what feels attractive to me, so I'm doing some research on them.
