What do you tell your kids about you're exit or near to exit WTS ?
by Ancientofdays inin the last year i made myself aware of wts.
then i resigned from elder, i stopped service , i stopped family study, but i'm still a formal jw.
my wife is still a convinced jw, and we often "discuss" (really sometime we scream a bit too much).

Help! they're giving me a talk #4 entittled:" IDENTIFYING APOSTATES"
by dark angle inthis is quite awkward for me to give!
our elder gave me that assignment last week and should be delivered next week on the theocratic ministry school.
considering i have very unconventional views for the wts about blood, evolution, bible, and the gb, delivering this talk seemd quite maladroit.

It's not often that someone is so direct and frank from the platform. A lot of the TMS speakers tend to softpeddle the truth. Hopefully your presentation will cause some to think about the organization they're a part of.

This is a really tough question and situation.
Based on your post I assume you don't want your kids to choose being dubs unless they've heard the pros and cons of being one.
What you say and how you say it really depends on your relationship with your wife and other dub family members. Kids aren't real good at keeping secrets. So whatever you tell them will get around. If you don't mind getting disfellowshipped or having your wife really angry with you and quite possibly being labeled an apostate there are many things you can do.
Do you currently plan on remaining a christian? If so, you could find some literature (both hard copy and online) aimed at christian parents and children. For the younger one an example would be WhitsEnd.org. For yourself family.org may be helpful as well.
Whether remaining a christian or not I recommend teaching your children to think for themselves. Teach them critical thinking abilities. I use television commercials aimed at children as a prime way to accomplish this. If you want more detail on that feel free to pm me. Your witness wife shouldn't object as long as you don't use the WTS in a direct reference.
I also make sure my children understand that anyone who says they have all the answers DOESN'T.
Good luck.

Is this the best board for a "fader"?
by Billzfan23 inthere are a few anti-jw boards out there.
do you have any others that you frequent besides this one?
any favorites?
-
TheListener
I've checked out several other places. This board is my favorite. It contains a balance of biblical discussion which is directly related to be a jw, current events and helpful advice for leaving and helping loved ones leave.
This board saved my life.

Grace versus Ephesians 4th & 5th Chapters
by TheListener infor those who are believers in god and the bible:.
if we have god's grace and have been purchased by jesus shed blood why do we have to be careful not to do the things mentioned in ephesians and elsewhere in order to not be excluded from god's kingdom?.
for example, ephesians tells us not to tell obscene jokes, or commit immorality, etc etc for if we do we will not inherit god's kingdom.

I have been really contemplating the posts I have received on this thread.
If those that are willingly sinning have a 'dead faith' then they I they would be purposefully excusing themselves from life in God's kingdom.
In Ephesians 4 and 5 (5:5) Paul is explicit in saying that those who are committing sins (he lists them, I won't) will not be in the kingdom of God.
So, is one proper understanding this:
If we have real faith it will save us. Real faith will manifest itself in our life's course - we'll not be wanton sinners but be on the road to allowing God's holy spirit to produce it's fruitage in us.
If we profess faith but in fact do not have it we will, at some point along the path of our life, show ourselves for what we are.
Thus we cannot be saved by works because the spirit is not in us; but we cannot have God's spirit and be one who sins willingly or we risk losing God's spirit and our place in his kingdom.
Being an imperfect sinner would not make it a foregone conclusion that we couldn't be in God's kingdom.
What this tells me is that we have to know and appreciate Jesus sacrifice and how he paid the price for our sin, live in accordance with Godly principles and we will be present in God's kingdom. However, if we are doing this and we sin, even grievously, we can, by virtue of Christ's sacrifice be forgiven and remain on the road to life.
