  i think that is a very apt way to say what jw's do.

  about twenty years ago a relative was diagnosed as bipolar.

  So this one time I was staying at 34 Orange and this horrible pee smell started coming from the air conditioner....

  I'm glad the powers that be are getting out of Brooklyn. I want them to appear more cultish to those that are unfamiliar with them. A farm or compound in New Jersey or New York State looks and sounds more cultic that many clean buildings in Brooklyn Heights.

  I had too much to drink It's not relevant to anyone but me.

  I also have all of my bethel paperwork. Including several (and different versions) copies of Dwelling In Unity and phone listings. If it would help expose the WT I'm sure my sober self could find a way to get copies to other people.

  the elders cames to my home on saturday and i didn't answer the door, so they told my sister to relay the message.

  the message was "you know what it's about, we're going to make the announcement next meeting".

  i knew it was coming...but it feels so weird.

  Seriously, you are to be commended for sticking up for yourself and not attending their kangaroo court proceedings.

  I'm glad you found this board and that you found it so helpful.

  I would never have been able to complete my fade if I hadn't found this board.

  the book study overseer hasn't asked why i won't come to the bookstudy, he gets .

  be the month i stopped going to the k.h.

  not going this week than it was about missing other meetings.. i told her that i would not be going to the meetings at all anymore.

  DF for celebrating Birthdays??

  has anyone ever heard of someone being dfd for celebrating their or their childrens birthday???.

  (my first post- took a lot to work up the courage- i'll tell more details later).

  Hi lrkr.

  Depending on what outcome you want to achieve you will need to choose your words wisely.

  From your post I'm assuming you must attend meetings regularly enough for your 8 year old to communicate with his/her friends at the hall? Or perhaps a witness relative.

  If it's a foregone conclusion that you celebrated and you can't/won't lie your way out of that then your best bet is to feign ignorance and repentance.

  It doesn't happen often but, yes, they can disfellowship you for celebrating a birthday - it's a false religious practice - to them.

  Don't argue scriptures with them. They won't believe you, listen to you or learn from your wisdom. That is unless your face is the shape of a WT, then they'll listen to whatever craziness you speak.

  I went to the Memorial.

  i'm just going to start at the beginning.. i was anticipating the memorial all day.

  i was nervous but excited, kind of like standing in line for a roller coaster.. ok. so erika gets ready at her house, and i get ready at mine.

  i'm wearing a black suit with a light green shirt, and a tie that had hues of green and yellow in it.

  A former "Bethelite" JW's friend of mine wants to "Disassociate".

  a friend of mine that was at bethel when the "change" came out about the "generation of 1914" in 1995 wants to "disassociate" himself but is terrified that his family especially his mother(who is of the annoited) will totally shun him.

  his whole family are jw's his uncle an elder, his sisters pioneers, etc; any advice i could give him?

  i know what it is like since my mom has been a devout jw's since 1967.

  MICHIGAN PEOPLE!!!...Multi-millionaire witness Pat Patterson.....

  anyone heard of this guy?.

  he built up an insurance agency in michigan, and sold it for over 10 million dollars.. apparently, at his big office in novi, michigan, he only hires witnesses and they are all making big bucks.. i know an agent who was going to work for him in another state (they do business in 10 states i think), but declined to sign up when he found out the organization was owned and operated by witnesses.. he said: "that explains the ridiculously low commissions they pay their agents".

  they sell alot of life insurance.. why would this witness owned agency push life insurance if the end is so near???.
