NEW RUMOR: WT ALLOWS BIRTHDAYS
by J.R.R.Watchtower ini've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.
according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.
is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.

Can someone provide the reference that was mentioned earlier from the WT 2000 Question from Readers on birthdays and anniversaries? I looked and didn't see any QFR that touched on that.

That's the beauty of the WTS. They put the idea in print and the conductor and congregation add the intended meaning verbally.
It's a win-win for the WTS
Win 1: the point is driven home by the local congregation which means they take ownership of the point because they feel like they're included and important.
Win 2: The WTS has no statement on record with this particular article of making the direct comparison and a month from now no one will believe an apostate or doubter who happens to remember the comments the audience and conductor made.
Sigh....

I wonder what the meetings are like? I wonder if they give parts? Do the local brothers and sisters support them or treat them any differently? What an odd situation.
It's like the BS votes in each KH when a new motion is made by the local corporation. There are never any nay's only yea's. I remember sitting there in my own local congregations thinking 'this doesn't make sense' but not having the courage to say 'nay'. to the vote.

If you have sex with your spouse after you find out he/she cheated on you, you cannot divorce them.
by Chemical Emotions inin the key to family happiness book, the wbts says that if you have sex with your marriage mate after they cheat on you, and you knew it, you cannot divorce them.. i was disgusted by learning that.
i only discovered this recently, but i am very angry.
what if your husand tells you that he'll keep screwing other women if you don't have sex with him?

Remember the old days when Oral and Anal sex were not considered sexual relations and not worthy of allowing a divorce? What Pharisaical HorseCrap.

Property is expensive. It took the WTS decades to acquire all the property and KHs they currently own. At the rate they're going all of the best, most valuable properties will be gone and along with it the revenue stream they generated.
Once the property is gone what will they sell next - their soul? Nah, they've done that.

Could you eat breakfast after watching this at Bethel?
by Dogpatch inthis is a partial video of the morning breakfast table in brooklyn bethel in the late 80s, with lyman swingle hosting... the governing body member who at first tried to shelter ray franz from disfellowshipping, but then within a year or two his spirit was broken and he was a bitter man.. randy (i was there and it was death-dealing, like the death eaters from harry potter!).
address of windows media file if you don't see anything:.

Service Meeting says "Leave Everything"
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inthis has probably been addressed, but i'm in a rush and wanted to get this out asap while it's fresh and before i have to run off again.
and i don't have the km with me to note the exact instructions and passages discussed, anyway.... last week in the service meeting, there was an unusual part that i wish i would have been prepared for.
the only material was to read a couple passages from luke and discuss how they affect our attitude toward our ministry.

Let's face it a ton of witnesses are just going through the motions. They listen to the FDS and they believe all of it on the surface but their actual lifestyles and choices show something different.
Imagine a witness from the 1950s or 1960s running into a witness today. I think the 1950s/60s witness would be totally shocked and disgusted.

New here - hello!
by sickandtired ini can't believe i'm actually posting here.
i've been lurking for a while and i've been having doubts about this being the "truth" for years and sometimes feel really stuck and hopeless about my situation.
i'm married to an elder (who is 110% jw) and i was for the most part raised in the "truth".

Welcome Sickandtired.
Like others on the board I'm very glad you posted. It does us all good to share our thoughts and feelings and to get feedback from others in similar situations.
I remember when I was first beginning to realize that I didn't believe everything I had been taught since infancy. I would wake up in the middle of the night during stormy weather and just lie there "knowing" that the end was coming and I would be killed by God for my faithlessness. I would pray and pray and pray that my thinking would be readjusted and knew that if I just studied more, associated with the friends more and pushed my doubts aside I would get better.
I tried those things but after awhile nothing felt real to me. I could force an emotional response to reading a life story in the Awake magazine but I just couldn't agree with all the doctrinal rules and regulations I had been taught my whole llife.
It took me several years to fade. At each step of the process my wife became angrier and angrier with me. She never threatened to leave and in fact told me she wouldn't. But, that didn't make her pleased with what I was doing. In her eyes I was turning my back on God and was on my way to being a drug smoking, alcoholic gambler who had multiple affairs. Now, I've been free of the witnesses for over 5 years and I am none of those things she thought I'd be. Unfortunately she is still a devoted Witness.
If you've read CoC and found it sincere (as did I) then you are truly on your way to mental freedom. Shedding ourselves of a lifetime of indoctrination takes time and effort. Doing this while married to a Witness just adds to the complexity of the situation.
I found the key to be slow and steady. Don't push your husband too far. Let him see that you are living your life in a decent moral manner even though you are slowly unraveling years of indoctrinated thought. Let him see your personality shine as you grow. And all of this without the fear of being cut off from God's grace and the light load that Jesus gives us.
Stay strong and take it one day at a time.
