This is the subject that I'm not good at discussing or refuting:
1. The Israelites did what they were told by their god directed organization even if they didn't understand the reasoning (or weren't given it). We don't always understand why the society gives certain direction or may even see that the direction doesn't make sense - do it anyway; God's looking out for us. For example the smoking and cancer link and the blood transfusion and AIDS link.
Any help would be appreciated.

Calling all "unbelieving mates", AKA husbands and wives of cult members
by Check_Your_Premises inhey all.
any who have been reading my recent posts, know that they chronicle my unsuccesful attempts to prevent my wife's baptism.. it is unfortunate and clear to me that there is nothing i can do untill i really understand the problem.
i am currently reading steven hassan's, releasing the bonds.

Not yet. It's difficult for me to purchase any books that would be considered apostate or questionable. Although Hassan's book isn't apostate it would send red flags up to my family. I should look for it at the local library or have a trusted friend pick up a copy.
This cloak and dagger sh!#%t really burns me up!
I gotta finish fading so I can be free.

In my experience Scully has hit the nail on the head. If you are slow and methodical about what you're doing you have a much better chance at success. Bringing up all sorts of topics about how bad the society is only causes the dub to shutdown and tune you out. My situation is different because I was a believing mate and now I'm fading out. The most useful information I've received and tried to apply in my life is to support my wife unconditionally. I don't try to discourage her in any way. That includes meetings, service and other assorted dub stuff. Over time she has seen that I am constantly there for her, supporting her and making sure she is ok. The members of the congregation just don't live up to the christian standard they all preach. She has noticed that and it bothers her. She's not said anything verbally but I can sense the embarrassment when "worldly" people (friends I've made since fading) step up to the plate and help out while witness friends aren't available. It may be a long process but unconditional love will win in the end.
Also, almost every new witness experiences a year or two of super self-righteousness. They have a burning zeal to tell everyone about the truth and aren't always as tactful as they should be. This enthusiasm usually dies off after a while when they settle down into a spiritual routine. Trying to convince her of anything in this initial period would probably be a waste of time. This isn't just something I've noticed; it is discussed by the friends at the hall. You can hear some comment from time to time that 'so and so is new and isn't it funny how zealous they are'. You can almost always tell who's been baptized for less than 1 or 2 years.

JW table at small airport
by Bryan inas i was returning home yesterday, i noticed an elderly lady sitting at a card table next to the security line.
immidiately, her "my book of bible stories" jumped out at me.
her table was covered with printed propaganda.

DY,
I find it interesting that your husband doesn't approach the dubs to give them encouragement. What's funny is I didn't approach them to say hi or anything either when I was fully in. Since reading your post I've tried to figure out why. The best I can come up with is because I didn't feel like being trapped in a conversation with people I didn't really know. Yeah I know - kind of sad for a loving brotherhood.
Now I wonder how many other dubs were in places with me who also didn't feel like approaching the "table of truth".

March KM - George Benson CD
by Angharad innot sure if this has been posted.
there have been a few threads about the george benson singing kingdom melodies cd that is doing the rounds in dubdom.
seems the wt doesnt like it.

From what I've heard through the dub grapevine (and we all know how twisted it is) the song was not performed by george benson or celine dion. The emails floating between dubs claim george benson and celine dion are singing. It's apparently a brother and sister who have left the truth, but before they did they recorded this song. That may be the reason the song is "banned" - you know it probably has secret messages if you play it backwards. Something like "satan is gonna get you, satan is gonna get you" or "santa is real and the easter bunny is gonna kick your @ss".
Within the next two months most dubs will hear through the grapevine (if they haven't already) that the song was sung by apostates and that's why we shouldn't be downloading or sharing it. See, the GB is looking out for our best interests. Sometimes we don't understand why things are decided but if we are faithful we will be safe.

BSOs on the Daniel book
by IP_SEC inso here comes patdp very soon.
it's not as bad as ipalfatn i & ii, but still its based on the idea of 607 and 1914.. how have any of you ex or current book study overseers handled this problem.
i'd like not to conduct but thats not really an option.

Conducting the study while not really believing the information presented is really difficult. I conducted the daniel book and the two isaiah books on the last go round. I am so relieved that I won't have to do it again.
The line between honesty to ourselves and integrity within and not losing our family or rocking the boat too much can become very fine indeed. I want all those who are still conducting to know that I for one empathize with you.
A nearby congregation had the CO in the last two months and he said that the society thought that bookstudy attendance would go up with the know jehovah book. Since it didn't they are going to redo the Daniel book to show everyone how close the end really is. How loving of them. I really don't think they realize that by pushing a book that was so unpopular they run the risk of further attendance erosion. I only say the book was unpopular because of discussing it with other friends around the circuit at the time. Although I will say that the daniel book was more popular than the isaiah books. But a second time through? My god what is next the isaiah books again????!!!!!
