I always had such compassion and empathy for those Df'd. I think I always knew that no one is exempt from a big fall. When some disasociated themselves, I always had a great curiousity. I knew that no one would do that with out a great deal of thought. I now see it as true bravery and courage, so much can be lost from that decision.

Which did you think was worse, df'd or da'd people?
by pennycandy inas a jw, when i'd find out someone got disfellowshipped, i'd shake my head and think, "what a selfish person.
choosing immorality (it had to be immorality) over jehovah.
i hope i never make such bad choices.

Are There Current JWs Who If They Became XJW's, You Still Wouldn't Trust?
by xjw_b12 in.
i was noticing, how the great majority who are fading, or are df or da, and post here, seem to go through a sincere personality change for the better.. it is of course a very humbling experience to find out how wrong and judgemental we were.. but is there a witness or two, who even if they posted here, you wouldn't trust them or like them.?

I honestly think that some have personality disorders. The narcisist comes to mind. They have grandiose beliefs about their own abilities, they always need to be in control. Those are personalities I try to avoid, JW or not.

I wish I knew how od your children are. My mom was baptized when I was four. This was a major fight in our home. My father threatened to leave on a regular basis, which stired absolute fear of abandaonment in his children. If he wasn't threatening to leave, he was yelling about how much he hated her religion, which translated that he hated his children in our minds. He did not allow us to go to meetings which made us wonder what we were missing out on. He offered no alternative. As we became teenagers, he changed the rules and told us to go to meetings as he had no plan for directing us through the turbulent teen years. He stepped out of our emotional lives because he had no direction to give us. He offered no spiritual guides, no educational guides, nothing. We all fell into thelife of being witnesses. We have ALLstruggled because of this.
It was this year that my father voiced for the first time how lost he felt when she became a witness. How he thought he put a fight up against it and then realized he couldn't win, so gave up. We thought he just didn't care about us! I have tremendous compasion for those raised in a divided household. Children want to love and have approval from both parents. They will spend a lifetime trying to get that approval from both of you. Under the circumstances it will cause MUCH confusion! Please try to think things through from their prospective. Give them love and affection and approval! They'll need it!

JimBob,
Not only do I know you but you know me. I am frightened by that, as I am a lurker. I am not considered active as I haven't been out in service for over two years, but I still attend meetings. I have been through so much this past few years. I'm not sure how to PM someone. But if you would like you can PM me. I know how to respond. It is weird, but I had this feeling of not wanting to stumble you, then I had this feeling of fear that by revealing myself, I would be in danger. Of what, I'm not sure. Total confusion! Obviously I can't stumble you. You know who you are and what you believe, but I am still unsure of me!
It truly is a small world!

I think I know who you are. I know everyone in your post today. I am saddened by the circumstances. I would never shun you.

Are some people REALLY better off in high-control groups?
by seattleniceguy inin holly's good-bye thread, quotes mentioned that he felt that some people were better off in high-control groups.
i've heard othes say similar things.. but i have a difficult time with this.
is it not true that high-control groups stiffle a person's emotional and intellectual development?

This is such a mixed group! We have some here who are conducting book studies, some who are attending meetings occasionally, questioning but staying, and still others who have walked completely away, even to the point of sending in a disassociating letter. There is a range of hatred for the WTS to confusion and distrust. Holly went back, and many are reacting the same way that a conductor of a long term bible study reacts when a study is discontinued. Hurt, sad, frustrated.
Holly did a great job of questioning. That personality doesn't go away. Many are in the Org. and have very distinct personalities, rebellious ones. They are elders, ms, pioneers, publishers and they are good people. I am still questioning, and learning everyday. I have no idea what the future holds.
I've thought about society in general, and how unjust this world is. How unfair life can be. It takes strong individuals to create change. I'm not completely sure that this won't happen as time goes on. I really believe that a huge shake up will occur in this organization. Will humility prevail? Only time will tell. The God of this universe is a God of justice.
I don't post often, but I lurk everyday. I enjoy the diverse views. I laugh, cry, get angry. I see intelligence and mental illness on this forum. All of it feeds my soul.

God's intervention?
by disciple indo you perceive that god intervenes in your daily life?.
for instance , if you were not making enough money to cover your unexpected expenses would you pray specifically to god for that expense or expenses to be covered?
did he provide?.

Prophecor,
Your line of reasoning makes no sense to me, in fact in my opinion it paints GOD cruel. "Some" people have Grace? I used to be afraid of that word, GRACE. It is NOT a JW word. I find that word beautiful now, but not if it only applies to "some" people. Grace is grace. We all need to be thankful for the beauty in life. Lifes tough lessons do have something to teach us, and grace amongst ALL men is a blessing.

"SOME" peoples lives are associated with GRACE?
I was blessd today by GOD? Oh, but so sorry my neigbor wasn't! Was he in the wrong religion? Doesn't have ENOUGH faith? Wrong color? Wrong country?
This is as much BULL as the witnesses being blessed while ALL others are NOT!

I saw a very intuitive reflexologist tonight, and he picked up information from me that he could not have known. I have the old standard belief that you should not get into this, and yet I am curious. What do you have to share about this? He wants my birthday, time of birth, city/state where born so that he can give me some information.
