I've often thought of this too. Take graveyards for instance, which ones get the most visits? Usually only the most recent. After 50-100 years most family will have moved away or have forgotten the direct link they used to have with their departed relative. Family that is usually more then four generations never get too meet in person due to age refines, so the deceased ones fading memory carry's a lack of importance.

I liked the thought of certain passages pherhaps being added to Ecclesiastes at a later date. This is speculation but could certainly be probable. Was Solomon re-evaluating his very belief on mortality? He certainly was coming to a realization of lifes short journey.

JW stance on birth control pills for medical reasons/sex education

i am seeking printed info in wt literature regarding use of birth control pills (for medical reasons) by unmarried women, specifically rules or hints saying it is not ok. (there are many medical reasons to take birth control pills other than for birth control.

) i can't remember seeing anything in print.

do you know if there was mention of this in the literature or in talks?

Could have been your location. Interesting point. Would be interesting to see if a persons proximity makes a difference in how much control they have. I know that different congregations can make quite a difference.

Local Needs - Disfellowshipped in the family, how to treat...........

this weeks local needs basically (summed up) told us not to speak to family members that are disfellowshipped unless they live in your house, and this conversation is very necessary.

also you cannot attend funerals, and weddings, etc.. how sorry i felt for the disfellowshipped one in our hall, and the parents (everyone knew who the talk was about).. to make it even worse, after the talk was over there was another part, and then the song was to follow.... well before the song/prayer the presiding overseer went on stage for another 10 minutes, re-emphasing the local needs talk the other elder has done.. during the prayer... i was praying to whatever god is up there to make these arsewipes pay for what they are doing.

those 2 minutes of prayer were getting me close to crying/screeming.

Got to love thoese JW local needs marking talks. And then they try to claim as an organization they are the only ones displaying true christian love amongst brothers. They equate love with robotic loyalty to the Organization. How perverted is that?

Hopefully you dont have to remain shackled in it forever.

I spend a lot of time outdoors where I see the continuing cycle of life and death. There are times when I reflect upon my own inevitable end and how life will continue for others, maybe because I see myself a part of the whole I don't find that so sad.

That is so true, thankyou for your comment. I guess the older we all get the more we even see the cycle of life and death in ourselves and loved ones. Sometimes its sad to see others nearing the final stage or stretch of their lives, they added much meaning to your life and its tough to know they will be gone forever. Sometimes I get a bit sad thinking about it but I try to keep thinking about the good times shared.

Back to your question though Rebel8. I don't recall their ever being anything much written on this subject unless one could search the Watchtower home library cd rom for something related. I don't remember many ever making any mention of it. I knew some who took birth control but it was never really brought up in Watchtower gossip circles too much.

No education and only one child probably due to following watchtower suggestions of remaining childless. She may have wanted children but due to pressure to pioneer she may have dismissed having children. No wonder she may have looked so sad.

this fell under the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Ditto.

What I recall the opinion on this would generally vary person to person depending how they personally felt about it. Older ones against it, while younger ones accepting it as an effective tool for pregnancy prevention. Can't see a Society that promotes childlessness in favour of "kingdom pursuits" to be against a form of birth control.
