woohoo Odrade, I made you giggle lol Always enjoy making someone smile.

No just curious how many come and go and come and go again. One couple were in and out continously on about a bi yearly basis and I often wonder if they are still in that cycle or finally wisened up. Its sad to see the turmoil that some people go through, wanting freedom but not brave enough to sever all ties.

Yes Classicist, they hate thinkers and ones who think usually dont stay in the org., but thats a blessing in disguise for us. Im glad I was smart enough to see through the smoke and mirrors. Oh beautiful precious freedom, how easily it is taken for granted as in Hollys case.

Excellent book, absolutely one of the best Ive ever read on the subject of Jw's. Very touching as you read the personal experiences, for me it was like a deja vu of my time as a witness.

Reading Hollys post made me think of this one. I was wondering who all has left the org. and then in time due to whatever circumstances(guilt,indoctrination,family,elder pressure,etc.) had gone back, and only to eventually leave again in time. I personally know of several people who float in and out of the organzation on a non stop basis. I tried to help one who came to me suffering from watchtower induced guilt but she too sadly returned and trust me I showed her alot of info. She is different as guilt is not a bother for her and she more or less puts on an act for family, but she still spouts out their mentallity and has severely reduced contact with me. I can understand why some do because of family but find it mind boggelling how after viewing the hypocrisy that one could go back and accept such a yoke upon their shoulders. Me personally I left for good and its been close to 5 years now and theirs no way I would or could ever stomach the watchtower organization ever again.

Whats your thoughts?

i have had all the answers i need to make a firm decision.

thank you so much everyone for your replies, for talking to me over the last few weeks and for some of the humour.. i believe the jws are right and that they have the truth.

Wow, pretty negative words toword all who dont agree with the JW's, Holly. Its fine if you choose their direction but please dont scold us for choosing our directions. That makes you no better then the pharisees of Jesus day, and if displaying true christian love toword all and being smashed down for it is proper, then im sorry but that is the most hypocritical comment you could have made. I forgive you and respect your decision but please use a little more discretion and courtesy when you attack us.

If you are being honest with us, I can somewhat understand as some float in and out of the org. all their lives. Next time your back though an apology to all the members here would be warranted as we have only tried to help you in your search for truth. I guess for some though its easier to have it all spelled out, black and white, that way no thinking or searching is required. Me I love being able to reason for myself, think for myself, and draw my own conclusions. I like color but I guess some dont want to face the reality that the world is not black and white. Either way wish you the best but I no you will never be happy within the JW realm, at least most genuine people are not happy in the org..

My personal reflection on Holly is that she is either heavily indoctrinated and too afraid to whole heartedly search for truth or she feels overwhelmed by trying to find all the answers too quickly. I find it hard to believe after all the info on this board that one could come to such a conclusion but thats the gift of free choice I suppose. Too bad that you will have to surrender your freedom of concience soon Holly.

well saw him on the academy awards last night...ok, np.

today on the oprah show, chris rock was on there tooting bout how prince had an after oscar's party, with many there including himself.

and how prince did a few tunes.....hhmmm wonder how many from his cong were there, you know the reverant window washers and carpet cleaners.... no, just bad worldly associations.

Has Anyone Got Any Proof That The Society Monitors Apostate Web Sites?

i am extremely skeptical about this, yet people on this forum seem to talk about it as though it were a fact.

so has anyone got any actual concrete proof?

here are the reasons why i don't think they do:.

Slimboy Im not sure specifically about monitoring of this site but it is very likely as I have heard from a former bethelite that it is occasionally monitored. They do not make prophiles of people or investigate into their registration to my knowledge but do monitor information expressed not only on this site but various sites. Its known that they read apostate literature and have even tried to counter or downplay the information expressed through articles in the watchtower. In fact they had only disclosed certain embaressing issues in the proclaimers book after it was already exposed in various books analysing the organization. Also to answer why they would not become influenced by what they read or monitor. Who do you think made the false proclamtions and distorted reasonings to begin with? Do you not think that they know what they teach is not always credible? This should be enough to open their own eyes but it doesnt because they are facinated with the concept of the society. You cant reason with one who will not admit to being wrong, and who is not humble enough to apologize for damaging lives. Others are career people, the society is their step ladder to the top and knowing the system is faulty does not deter such ones striving for prominent postitions. I do agree though it is good to be factual but I would not be surprised that they do indeed occasionally monitor these sites.

Study conductor claims the "WTS is not the FDS"...and other JW affirmations

i am currently following the ongoing saga of a person who is studying to be a jw and her unbelieving husband's attempts to sway her in this endeavor.

he has gotten her to read cofc and she's halfway through it, but nonetheless, she remains bound to the jws and wants to continue her persuit.

he has tried to call into question that the wts could have been appointed by jesus as the "faithful, discreet slave", but the person she is studying with flat out told her that jws do not believe that jesus chose the wts as the fds and, that they don't believe that they are the one chosen religion/church.

I just wanted to reply to the biblical translation point that was brought up. I dont know if it will help but doesnt common sence show that any translation is as good as the next or better, I feel its personal preference. Also if the NWT is the only worthwhile true translation then what the heck did people do for thousands of years before it was published. Were their bibles any less benficial? The NWT is far too slanted toword their doctrines and buzz words for my liking, I would take any bible over the NWT for personal preferance. I dont know if she can be helped MJ, sometimes people have their minds set in stone and no amount of discussion or enlightenment will help. Worth a try but sounds like her mind is made up, she is probably enjoying all the love bombing and longs to be accepted by such a large group. They are good at making you feel like somebody at first, also she probably has her hands full with visits and invites to various social activities of the witnesses. Try to reason and who knows if she wont accept it now, maybe she will later when she wakes up to the realities of being a JW. Its sad to see such narrow mindeness but thats what they are trained to do quite soon in the study, they are warned to not listen to contrary material or view it, so off the bat the watchtower indoctrination works quickly to close the mind. Its basically another case of not "testing the sayings to make sure that they are so." Good Luck anyway in your endeavor MJ.

WT Rule: Disfellowshipped Should Shun One Another!

two people who are disfellowshipped can't talk to one another and can't even carpool to the meeting.

That too me is appalling and almost made me ill to the stomach. How can one turn their back on a fellow human never mind Christian. This is most deplorable and in no circumstance would this treatment ever merit any approval from Christ. This is absolutely sickening to me and reminds me of the cold heartedness and truly unchristian behavior that was also displayed in my congregation. Any that could treat one as this regardless of their status had better go back to the drawing board and find out what truly following Christs example and being a christian is! Same with letting that brother walk to the hall, unbelievably appalling! Any who cant at least have an ounce of mercy or forgiveness no matter what the opinion of others is should re-evaluate their morals and biblical understanding. That should be enough to warn ones that the true love identifying Christs true followers is sadly lacking or non existent within the Watchtower organization. What has happend to "love your neighbour as yourself", and "do not be just loving thoese who are of your own, for these things the nations also do, but love thoese who are not of your own." Was not this the whole point of the "good samaritan" illustration, Im sorry to sound so peaved but when they warp the simple commandment of love, and against a fellow christian yet, it is absolutly disturbing. This is along the same lines of argument that I had with the witnesses before, I never supported such a distorted view of conditional love and I never will.
