"Ask yourself this simple question: Can you truly, honestly, and without reservation, promise to love and serve someone who threatens to kill you if you don't?"
Very well said, makes alot of sence.

if someone held a gun to your head and threatened to blow your brains out unless you worshiped jesus and went to church, which christian church would you choose?
no pansy churches like the unitarians though.
it has to be a fundamentalist denomination.

I don't know a ton about other denominations but maybe I would choose the Quakers because they seem non controlling, no written creeds, and seem to have done alot in the past for human rights. I love music also so maybe some denomination that is really into music. I would much rather prefer not being part of a denomination and be as I am, a free lance believer open to all possibilities.
Now if it was be a JW or take the bullet, Id take the bullet. Either way you end up brain dead.

meeting jehovah's witnesses at your door was a fresh, new experience.
they were nice, friendly and smiled real big.
along with your bible study you received an instant life.
To be truly free of the Borg a WTS drone must actively uninstall this bit of programming or they will always have this nagging fear just under the surface and will never have peace of mind.
This is very true, very true. Ive often mentioned this myself to others who are what I would classify as "believing walk-aways". You can't put the past behind you until you deal with it, no matter how hard you try to forget or bury it in your mind. If you don't confront the programming that was put into you, and reprogram yourself with logic and truth, You could be bound for years in the JW mindset.
Ive personally seen ones who even after 20+ years of inactivity, and vehemiently denouncing their JW past, still hold on to the guilt and fear that was indoctrinated into them years prior. One lady I know who has been out since the early 80's but has never dealt with her past, only denies it. She is still in guilt and fear of armagedon. In fact during the Year 2K's approach she stated how she was so afraid that an armagedon will come. Still she stubornlly refuses to help herself when it is only a mouse click away or one simple book. Funny thing is she has the internet and is a avid book worm, she has no clue how close she is to finding freedom, and she still refuses to let herself be helped. At the time I helped myself by frequenting this site and reading books on the JW's past, I couldn't help but talk about it to someone since I didn't have many to talk with about it for fear of JW sanctions. Well I tried to discuss somethings with her, since she had been out for so many years and insisted she disliked the JW religion. You know she became a hurdle and actually tried to discourage my investigations on the Watchtower by very sarcastic and discouraging comments. This was a hard blow but thank goodness I read enough on the psychological effects of leaving a cult and didn't let it stop me in my journey. I realized she was still a JW even though not in the physical confines but rather in the mental.
You need to want help to be helped and then seek it, after that all the fear, guilt, and indoctrination will slowly fall to the floor and fade away. Thus in the end leaving you with a priceless new found freedom.
Sorry for the long reply to the quote, I didnt know how I could make it any shorter. And in answer to the threads question;
The fear/guilt tactic that kept me prisoner for along time was the "if you arn't an active JW your kids will die at the big A". Then I read the scripture how we all stand before the judgement seat of God and that one cannot ride on anothers ticket into heaven, earth or wherever, and in one strike all that instilled twisted guilt lost its power.

nice article.
I speculate that the next two years may lead up to some interesting developments in the WTBTS. I don't think they will ever fall in this period, I believe their here to stay for awhile but I do think in a few years they may take a facelift. IMO

i've had several expereiences with ouija boards, some interesting, some disturbing, and as skeptical as i try to be i have to admit i have seen it personally say things and do things that i can not logically explain.
some say its your sub-conscience, some say its spirits, others say its demons.
i am just wondering if any of you have had experiences with the ouija board, what they were, and what you believe about them, supernatural or just another simple amusement?
What exactly is table tilting? Ive never personally heard much about it. Can someone explain it or what happens.

do all kingdom halls have the same schedule as far as times and dates go?
i would like to have a list of all meetings that the j.w.
's have every month, especially for new bible study people.. like, do they go to thursday night meetings, service meetings, sunday services, etc.?.
I remember that meetings were set by the elder body, except the sunday meeting which was pretty concrete in its time to be in tune with the rest of the dub world. The book study was held on tuesday, thursday, and saturdays during my time with the JW's. Ive seen the ministry school/service meeting switch from tuesday to thursday and back again. These two meetings really have no set in stone times and often the bookstudy was held in the mornings. These meetings would also fluctuate around the C.O. visit, memorial, and assemblies. Not sure anymore what its like but I would imagine its much the same as it was.

The Ouija Board is one of the few remaining emotinal tabu's I have leftover from dub-dumb
I can fully understand that. Myself it doesnt bother me anymore, as I don't really classify them as just demons communicating through a board on behalf of Satan, to further his side. For all I know it could be spirits, ghosts, entities, or pherhaps just some form of energy. I try not to let my JW past influence my views of things now. Thats if their truly is something supernatural to it. I was bothered by boards for along time due to my Jw upbringing and I totally understand the uneasiness of playing with one. I thik its a leftover factor from all the fear and guilt they pump into you through their doctrines and publications.

i know that jws view df'd ones as the walking dead, but how do they view non-jws?
i thought that they considered them walking dead, too, but my mom says no.
can anyone clear that up for me?

Sounds like a George A. Romero spoof. lmao Watch out Rub a J Dubs the living dead want to feed on your brains, well thats if a JW had a functional brain.
I also see the Governing Body truly is God now as they can make the below quoted claims yet only God is the one who will determine who is in his favor or not. Everyone will stand before God not just 6 million followers of a few old men in Brooklyn. Boy their audacity pisses me off more and more every day. Bunch of proud old pinheads, talk about eliteism at its worst. Shall we say they are a bit self rightous? I would think so.
Only Jehovah’s Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the DevilTicker
something to think about for this week's book study:.
it's found on page 57.. now look at paragraph 24; the last two sentences read:.
"like the roman empire, it (the anglo-american alliance) has proved to be "strong as iron", exercising ironlike authority.
Maybe im rusty on this too, but wasnt the Anglo-American power resprisented by the clay and iron that was bonded together in the statues toes? Its been along time since going through this material and since I have been inactive for a few years now, Ive kinda lost all touch with their doctrines.
