is there such a thing in jw mythology?
i thought apostacy was considered unforgivable but i can't find any quotes on the topic.
I had this question about a year and a half ago or more and this site really seemed to explain it well. I'll post the link to the site. It is from the Bible answer man site, the writer of the article being Hank Hanegraaff. I thought it made alot more sence then any JW rendering of what sinning against the holy spirit is because their interpretation is automatically cult biased.

This comment from his story really stuck out and made alot of sence to me;
In the ensuing hours I was virtually paralyzed by my fear. When my father returned from work, he found me lying in bed, agonizing over my impending physical and spiritual doom. “Dad,” I stammered when he entered the bedroom, “I’ve committed the unforgivable sin... the world is coming to an end... and I’m headed for hell!” To my utter astonishment he simply smiled. To this day I can still hear his words: “If you are truly concerned, you have not committed the unforgivable sin.”
I think its a good read for ones with this question because it shows that their is no connection between leaving the JW religion and sinning against the holy spirit as they would like their members to think. Its just a psychological control tactic they use very sucessfully.

this morning at brooklyn bethel, patterson and wt farms the governing body offered a prayer in behalf of all of the citizens in the la area.
that jehovah provide the needed protection for all citizens who will be impacted.. .
the gb prayed that those who would be risking their lives, such as essential personeel will have the needed strength to help all citizens.. .
It is sad. They will just use this another end times support for thier argument that armagedon is just around the corner.

jeff jackson has just been appointed to the gb.
he is a family friend from tasmania, a little island at the bottom of australia.
he is about 50 and claimed to be annointed when i think he was in his late 30's, as a great shock to everyone.
This Organisation may become so hardline, so tight, it will one day snap and schism. This isn't very uncommon with high control groups and cults. They become so hard line and paranoid over time that either bad things result(Jim Jones, etc), they schism into offshoots, or they downright implode(WWCOG, etc). I don't think this would happen for sometime but I think it is innevidible someday. They can't last forever as they have painted themselves in a corner with time lines, and some day must make radical doctrinal changes. As always they will hold out to the end possibly but who knows what the next few years may hold.
Blondie mentioned tithing, and as this would not go over the easiest I can see it being possible. They would have some new light moment and some twisted scripture to back up the rightness to now put tithes on the R and F. Money is the main focus, through and through whether they themselves realize it or not.

hopefully i can explain what i'm talking about here.. a few yrs after i left the jws, i went to college and spent a semester abroad.
the combo of studying world history, along with seeing historical stuff in person and exposure to new cultures really led me to realize even deeper how egocentric/ethnocentric the jw belief system is.
by that, i mean: everything centers around white americans.
I totally agree wiht you Rebel 8 and Ive remarked on this before to people. How black and white the JW thinking is on the world and what the future holds for mankind. It is very biased and formed on ideals originating from a western society. If only they truly realized how the world is so far from black and white but rather many colors and shades of grey. How they are just another spectrum in the world and not the centre of Gods plan as they so arrogantly think. I think after you travel the world a bit and get a taste of different cultures, you begin to realize that we are just like them, people searching and just living life. Its funny how they can't see that its a little bit suspicious that God's so called One true religion originates in the United States and is predominatly white middle class. Most of the leadership being white. I've even personally seen ones who have had a racial bias towords others not of their race. One elder forbid his daughter to marry a black man, and used every excuse in the book. Why would he mind if they supposedly believe God is not racist? g Maybe someday they will wake up and say yeah that is strange, but probably not.

i got a free subscription from ptm.org for one year.
for those of you not familiar with the story of the world wide church of god, they were a cult remarkeably similar to the jw doctrinally.
it was founded by herbert armstrong.. after his death they went through a remarkeable and turbulent reformation.
I remember the Plain Truth Magazines, but never ever read one. I have researched into them when I was researching about cults and yes I do think they have reformed and recanted from their former past. They are basically mainstream as already stated. Interesting though if the magazines attack legalism and authority in religion. It may still be hard to get a JW to read another religious magazine though since they will be paranoid of even doing that, nevermind questioning their own religions doctrine. You never know though and it's worth a try if it helps.

is annihilation taught in the following passages?
do these scriptures show that man can kill the body, but not the soul?
the greek word for "destroy" in the latter part of matthew 10:28 is apollumi (apollumi), which means "to ruin" or "to perish.
Second Death - Fiery Gehennah mmm sounds like a Good Shooter at the bar. Ummm bartender two Fiery Gehenna's please!
Seriously, I think its one of thoese debates where you could argue this way and show scriptures in support or argue the other way and have scriptural support. Its one of thoese matters depending on how it is interpretated, but I dont think it is going to matter and ones life will not depend on splitting hairs over certain doctrines. It will come down to the person inside, for interpretation belongs to God.

I dont know about resurected from the dead. Oh I probably would say Im resurected from the brain dead since im no longer a JW.
And they consider any who are no longer JW the walking dead so maybe I do vouch for that one somehow. lmao

sometimes i get a question that just stuns me.
this one was from a self-described "ex-jw" who says he was disfellowshipped for some ethical lapse or some such.
he thinks there's nothing at all wrong with the watchtower society, just something wrong with him.
I can tell you first hand that the Kingdom Hall can be a place of emotional manipulation and abuse. This link tells of some of my story regarding abuse within the Kingdom Hall. I will never set foot in one again.

hey ya'll, t was announced this morning at the breakfast table that there are two new members of the governing body.
they were formerly "helpers" or "given ones.
" anthony morris raised a family and then went into the traveling work.
Thanks Allen for clarifying who the writer is.
Also do we actually have solid proof that these two have been apointed, and if we do can someone post a link to the material on the web.
