Are there any former dubs who were petrified by the demons?

If anyone in our house starting fighting, had questions about "the truth", didn't want to go to a meeting or out in service, was caught kissing a boy, bascially ANYTHING deemed wrong or sinful, my mother would start to quiz everyone about what they had brought into the house. Everything used or given to us by someone else was immediately thrown in the garbage as it 'clearly was demonized'.

I got JW neighbours like this. Everytime they get scared they have a big bonfire, personally I think they fabricate their own fears and build on them due to self induced JW indoctrinated paranoia. I think everyone makes their own demons and some just go a step farther with it. Im sure they have better things to do then possese or torture a JW.

I was reading a post today about the kingdom songs we sang as JW's.

i was thinking about the kingdom songs we sang as jw's and was wondering about you posters out there that are ex-jw's or still jw's what was you all time favorite "kingdom song" or what was you all time horrible song that we sang from both songbooks (1966 songbook or the later songbook made in 1984 sing praises to jehovah.

my favorite song was song #119 in the 1966 songbook "keep your eyes on the prize".

i like this song because it made me feel that armaggeddon was coming fast and the "new system" would be here to give me the prize.

I like "Israels Son", oh shit thats right thats Silverchair not kingdom melodies.

I don't like any of them, their all wanna be classical compositions. The only one that sticks out in my mind is "Keep your Eyes on the Prize", because my Grandma made me memorize the whole song and repeatedly sing it when I was young.

Their songs are so repetitive and they really need to jazz them up, but their so paranoid about music they probably never will.

The GB, Evil incarnate, or just trapped like the rest?

if you believe that the wbts is a high control group, cult, or whatever, do you also believe that the design, the isolationist doctrines and subtle mind control is all on purpose?

or did it just sort of evolve that way?.

in other words, do you think russell, rutherford and the governing body purposefully look(ed) for, or make(made) up, biblical evidence to support controlling doctrines?

No individual or even several GB members have the power to change the WTS which is an entity with a personality and presence larger than the sum total of the GB members. You could switch out ever GB member and the problems in the WTS would remain.

At least not till someone in that positions gets some balls and leaks the truth to the rank and file.

But todays GB? Just a bunch of "company" men, towing the party line. There really hasnt been anything new on the theological front for decades now and the policies have been
stagnant since Franz, with the exception of allowing certain "blood fractions"....Todays GB, just overseeing the WTS running on automatic pilot.

They have to remain stagnant or risk losing millions to disillusionment when they have to scrap more time trapped doctrines. They will hang on with same old theology as long as they can before imploding in on themselves. They have to bite the bullet eventually though.

Is the decision to give blood to your child strictly a conscience matter?

my wife asserts that this is the case.

she adds that no witness is to judge another for their decision, whatever it may be.

is this the case, and if so, does it really play out that way?.

I related this story a month or so more ago, but their was a couple who allowded a transfusion for their baby and no actions were taken against them as far as I know. Wether it was hush hush im not sure but I found out word of mouth with a relative that the transfusion was indeed allowded. It was briefly mentioned and not dwelled on so it was certainly still an uncomfortable subject for them to accept. None the less Im glad the child was spared an unecessary death. Just wanted to relate it again since I know that they wern't disfellowshipped, maybe their rules have softened?

Body of Elders...

ive been on the board a little over six months.

before coming here i would tell people: i can be surprised, but never shocked.

thats no longer true after reading through the topics and comments.

This is the way a indoctrinated witness thinks "Elders are put into their position by God through the Governing Body's channels. Since God is supreme then they cannot argue with the ones he appoints, and they reason like mentioned that it is a test or else they are going to meetings not to serve men but to serve God." I find that hypocritical because true christians are marked by love but Witnesses quickly forget this and use any excuse as to why they are treated harshly. Even if stumbled by hardline elders many use circular reasoning to make it all fit into place. If only they could see how un-Godly it truly is and that they are in fear of men not God. How they cannot see the "pyramid structure" is intriguing but again they have cloudy vision due to the constant onslaught of Watchtower indoctrination.

did you ever go to the service group and be assigned to the different car groups.....and then....the sister that is assigned to go with you...decline and say...'i am just going by myself today and do my return vistits by myself'..... damn, i should have complained about that one!

She was and still is, very determined about her pioneering. I guess it's her identity. She's been a pioneer for about 30 years and has had one person baptized, the daughter of one of her JW friends.

When I read this I just shuddered because I am so glad I never roped anyone into this crazy religion when I was a pioneer. I think I would feel really guilty if I got someone hooked into it and now know what I know. Phewwww Im glad no one took it to seriously. I had one bible study that almost got baptized but it was during my fade and he tapered off when I left, I phoned him about six months ago and let him know what the JW's were really about just in case he still had some lingering thoughts about attending again. Luckilly he had never went back since I left, and now is well informed.

Yes CofC is an awsome read and don't forget to order "In Search of Christian Freedom", this book is a great sequal to Ray's first book. The second book goes further into examining and exposing Watchtower doctrine on specific issues that many have questions about, such as "who really is the faithful and discreet slave" and other issues not covered by COC. It is quite an eye opener when you see the circular reasoning and downright dishonesty the Watchtower Society uses to add weight to their arguments I found both books very enlightening and helpful.
