at first, i was finding it pretty difficult coming to terms with the fact that my whole life had been a lie, but really, i suppose there's not much point in worrying about this now, what's done is done, and i'm still easily young enough to make a life in 'the world' despite a slow start.

: when it comes to the history of the WTBTS, why bring that up and build a case against it as though the WTBTS is "evil" beacause of it? they don't need to be evil to be unfollowable. all they need to be is 'not jehovah's chosen channel.' and how do we know that they are or aren't jehovah's chosen channel? by asking jehovah, of course! deuteronomy 18: 21 says; And in case you should say in your heart: "How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?" [22] when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. You must not get frightened at him. is this not the direct, untampered with, word of jehovah? and is it not simple enough?

KH Builds are a statistical sham!

well my mother-in-law is spending the night and blabbing about their kh build.

since i'm drinking whiskey (canadian if you must know), i feel like going on a rant.

i'm sick of kh builds.

lol at that "edifice complex", although of course the pun only works if you've got an american accent. below is pictured (assuming my html code works...) a dub megabuild that i worked on, an experience that is now unfortunately one of my most prominant memories of my teenage years. quite a few on this forum will instantly recognise the place!

Are Jehovah's Witnesses communists?

that was the title of a tract i recall distributing in the 1950s.

it responded to the demonising of so many people in the mccarthy period.

the answer seemed obvious at the time - no, dubs are anything but communists.

i have seen jan haugland describe the left-right divide in politics as being a loop, rather than a line, and the nutty leftwingers meet up with the nutty rightringers somewhere around the back. this is very true, i think. as for the dubs, the thing that occured to me is that they claim to have all the answers to all the problems, and in this they sound more left wing than right.

if the elders came and inspected your home - what would they find?.

a casual look around reveals a box of "narnia" tissues on my desk, 12 or 14 non-witness translations of bibles on my shelves, many non approved novels [wifey's] on the reading table, plenty of 'apostate literature', a book or two on meditation, a hypnosis cd for weight loss, prob many toys that are not witness approved in the g-kids room, a half eaten birthday cake, a birthday balloon, xmas wrapping paper in the closet , a couple of r rated movies, music that is not acceptable.. that is just at first blush.

a copy of "from paradise lost to paradise regained" and a copy of "babylon the great has fallen - god's kingdom rules." it can surely be just a matter of time before the condition of being in possession of these ancient and embarrassing books is considered a crime against the true path of dubbery.

i used to feel it was the catholic religion because of all its rituals.

then i felt it was the latter day saints with all thier "personal testimony" and "prophet" doctrines.

finally, after reading about the watchtower's history i've settled on the view that they are all equal.. how did you feel about it when you were a witnoid?.

they were all the same to me. i was so totally ignorant growing up as a jehovah's witness that i did not know the difference between one christian religion and another. i did not know if there were more catholics in the world than christadelphians, and certainly had no demon grade index! i was content with this of course, and no dub was keen to enlighten me. i'd be amazed if that's changed lately, and i suspect that if a born and growing dub has learned anything at all about what differentiates one christian religion from another, he has probably learned it from this site! pepheuga

well if peaceful pete is right and they do still explicitly teach all that 'one true religion' stuff, then i fail to see how anybody can be so desperate to believe, that they are willing to accommodate such a stunning contradiction. no doubt there are a few million such folk though!

Extra training ... so you know that shooting babies is WRONG ?!?

how dumb and pathetic.. no extra training should be necessary for even slightly trained and disciplined soldiers.

i guess it is for some of the rabble that the us call "troops" though.. of course the real problem is not just those on the ground that have committed the latest attrocity.

it is the chain of command that tried to cover it up and all the way up to the president who sanctions bombing of civilian targets with nothing more than rumour for "intelligence".. from now on america, you are on your own.
