when i was an active witness it was quite noticeable that when world shattering events took place, such as a disaster, tensions between major nations, war in iraq or events like that of 9/11 the meeting attendance would drastically improve.
this was mainly due to ones whom you rarely saw flocking back because they thought armageddon was coming.
what if this almost impossible scenario occurred.

I would go back only if it meant one of my friends or family would be executed,then you might see me at a kingdumb hall,or if the try to DF me.

thought it might be interesting to list some names from our jw association.... maybe someone on the forum knows or knew them... maybe catch up... i've been out since the early 90s... and have no idea where these people are now.

jehovah's witnesses in russia are working with scientology, the unification church, mormons and others in a joint political effort to lobby the russian duma (similar to the us congress) for certain issues.
I guess relying on jehovah doesn't count when theres money to be made.
warning: this post may be damaging to your biases.. it seems to me that the "danger" the witnesses pose to larger society is, well, pretty damn small.
just think about it: the witnesses are almost not involved in politics at all, except the occassional "freedom of religion and speech" issues they take to various courts, issues i am happy to support the witnesses in, even if i strongly disagree with their beliefs.
you will not see jws supporting banning abortions or gay marriages or a whole host of other civil liberties and freedoms that evangelicals rally around like the village people searching for frankenstein's monster.
The Jehovahs Witlesses are a JOKE to the outside world,a frickin punchline.The are less harmless to government,financial istitutes,and the catholic catholic church than they would like to give themselves credit for.The proof is in the pudding,no new converts or any real message.They are a gimmick driven religion.
They exploit there members from the inside and use there emotions and fears to propel them.I agree,sometimes people willingly do this.

I played hockey with vinny proffenna,also knew some ferry's from franklin.I grew up in quincy,and know people from the south shore mostly.

I just wanted people to be proud of me.I think it was january 12,1994,I was 12.I sure thought I knew everything.
a few years ago i was living with a buddy of mine here in downtown calgary.
we were both inactive dubs but still half - assed on the fence.
one night i came home from work and there was a slew of beer bottles all over the living room, and my buddy slouching on the couch in his suit and tie, beer in hand.
I went to my judicial meeting all coked up.HAHA
i put this on "friends" cos i think you are!
