The worst cheapskate I ever heard of was the elder who thought that his dining companions had left too big of a tip for the waitress so he would sneak back to the table after everyone left and help himself to the money.

Leaving Florida and Moving to Ontario!

my husband was offered an incredible job in canada so we flew up here to check it out.

My husband was offered an incredible job in Canada so we flew up here to check it out. We totally fell in love with the place. Beautiful parks, friendly people, great food, taxes are a bit high but, I guess you can't have everything.
We have a deal in the works to move into at a house in Oakville. It's beautiful, right across from the Lake, a nice yard with big trees and lots a birds, hardwood floors, a finished basement, jacuzzi tub in the master bath, rec room and a hot tub. I just love it. The only downside is that it's right near a Kingdom hall. I swear, they ruin everything.
I have been through a year of hell after leaving the JWs and I finally feel like things are finally looking up. We will be far away from our JW relatives and all their drama. It feels like a new beginning.
We will be flying back on Wednesday to start packing. I can't wait!

My Mom passed away today.
by Finally-Free inafter a lenthy illness, 10 years in total, my mother, margaret stecko, passed away peacefully today surrounded by family.
she was 84, and leaves behind 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
she was a jw but never shunned me.

Thanks for sharing your story. Your mother sounds like a amazing and courageous woman. It's amazing that she went through so much pain and still was able to love as much as she did. I agree with Mouthy, I'm sure she is in a better place. You are lucky to have had someone so wonderful in your life.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve.

As a Christian, I choose to spend my time helping the poor and needy rather than get into endless debates over trivial matters such as this. If the so-called Christians of this world follow Jesus' example instead of getting bogged down over pointless issues like this, the world would be a much better place.

JW dress fads
by rassillon ini was just looking at the revelation book and some of the illustrations reminded me of some of the dress fads which i have seen growing up as a jw.
what fads did you see at the halls?.
the one that got me to thinking was the sun dress on page 51. .

When you say sundress are you referring to the woman in the middle wearing the red muumuu looking thing? That's an ugly dress.
I usually think of sundresses as looking something like this (she's pregnant but you get the idea)
I think the picture in the bottom right is a perfect representation of a JW family. Mandatory big hair on the ladies. All the clothes are modest and not a hint of a worldly fad. The wife and daughters always have a big, unnatural smile and the husbands always look uncomfortable and trapped. That brown suit and ugly stripe tie must be some sort of requirement for JW males, I've seen the same suit on every JW guy I know.

I'm sorry that you had to endure such abuse. I can't imagine why he thinks he has the authority to order a whole group of people off this board. It sounds like this man has some deep psychological issues that need to be addressed.
I feel sorry for him as he is very unhappy. I think he has closeted feelings that are tearing him apart. Just lets give him some compassion.
I'm touched that you are able to show such compassion to this man. You sound like a really great person and I'm glad that you are on this board. :)

What a vile, insensitive little creep. His comments literally made my stomach turn. I'm so sorry that you were subjected to such abuse.
I've received similar messages on Myspace from JWs. They all seem to have the same hit and run routine - they send a nasty, curse-filled email, block you before you can reply and then set their profiles to private. Odd behavior for people who are supposed to be fearless in the face of "persecution".
Kudos to you and all the others who have found the strength to go public with your stories of abuse and mistreatment by JWs.

Ugh, that's nasty!!!
Dogs lick their butts, eat nasty stuff out in the yard and on occasion will eat poo. Why would any sane person let a dog lick a child's diaper rash? Yuck!
I work with dogs. It is a complete myth that dog saliva is medicinal. Dogs can carry many different bacterias that can make someone ill especially young children and people with weakened immune systems.
Rosie's actions are just plain dirty and disgusting and she needs to be paid a visit by Children's Services immediately. God only knows what else is going on in her house. Those poor kids.
