I received a very similar letter last year. At the time, I was getting several unsolicited messages a day from guys looking for love (or something else) so I didn't think much of it. Now I'm wondering if it's some sort of scam. Maybe you should report it.

Did you feel like this toward the end? Brothers/Sisters & worldly people
by jambon1 ini can remember about 2 years before i exited the org i had a terrible dilema which didn't really have anything to do with my doubts in relation to doctrine.. the problem was hearing over and over and over about the fact that being in the org was 'the best place to be'.
that the brothers were 'true friends'.
didn't they have a video out called 'ypa - how can i make real friends?'.

Now, for me the problem was this; Every time I went to the meetings or out in field service, there was always some scandal going on. Folk gossiping or bitching about others. Cliques being formed. Elders disagreeing and pioneers falling out with each other.
That sounds like our JW family. Every time my husband talks to his Dad it's nothing but doom and gloom. Never any good news or encouragement. Just a bunch of drama and gossip about who's not doing what they should be doing. I don't know how anyone can continue to live like that. They are the most miserable people I have ever seen and I know it drives them crazy that we are so happy and content.

No disrespect meant to Deputy Dog but, I'm a Christian and I don't believe that. I believe that Christ died for everyone and it's an act of free will to choose to become a Christian. Yes, God does call people, I believe He called me, but it is still a choice.
Sirona, I used to be a Pagan before I became a Christian. No one converted me or convinced me to become a Christian. I’m really not into debating or trying to convert people. I had enough of that as a JW. So I’ll just tell you my experience of becoming a Christian.
I kept driving past a particular church and something inside me kept telling me to go there. I didn't go for 2 years because I still had the JW mindset that churches are "evil". One day, I decided to research that church on the Internet, I wanted to make sure they didn't do anything crazy like roll in the aisles.
I found them on the Internet and they had all the sermons online and all the services were broadcast live on the web. The pastor was kind, caring, humble, intelligent, and well spoken. Nothing like the JW elders. Inside, I realized that he was speaking the truth and that this was what I had been missing in my life. A short time later I got up the nerve to go to the church and I became a born-again Christian soon after.
There is an amazing power in Christianity. Since I became a Christian there has been an incredible change that has occurred in my life. God has made me into a better person. I am filled with love, peace and contentment. He has blessed me, healed me and answered my prayers. I spent years in therapy because of being a child abuse victim and that didn’t heal me the way God has. Therapy is good, I don’t want to knock it, but it’s no substitute for Jesus. My husband noticed the change in me and became a Christian a few months later.
I have found that Jesus is far more powerful than any spell and is more loving than you could ever imagine. It can't be proven or disproven. It’s really hard to explain in a way that a non-Christian can understand, you almost have to experience it for yourself.
I don't want to ramble on and on so here are some resources that helped me in my search:
This is the church I attended in Florida. http://www.calvarymelbourne.org/ Many ex-JWs attend Calvary Chapels now. I know several that attend this one in particular.
Two books that really made an impact on me during that time are the “Case for Christ” and the “Case for Faith” by Lee Strobel. Strobel is an investigative reporter and a former atheist. He’s a really smart guy and his books are really well written. http://www.amazon.com/Case-Christ-Journalists-Personal-Investigation/dp/0310209307
Tower Watch is run by an ex-JW turned Christian. It's a great website. http://www.towerwatch.com/

Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

Boy....they know how to worship the Lord in comparison to the Jdubs. I LOVE this music. What POWER!
You ain't kiddin'. The KH music was so bland and boring. I don't miss that at all. It really makes a difference when you have a band and a choir and everyone is full of love for the Lord and really into what they are singing.
I think that this video of "Revelation Song" is some of the best worship I've ever seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FObjd5wrgZ8 They are so passionate. It reminds of the Calvary Chapel I used to attend in Florida. My church here in Canada is pretty small and I really miss having the big worship band.

I always thought it was ridiculous that they didn't have some sort of Sunday school. I was expected to sit still but I was allowed to read the Bible Story or Great Teacher books. Non-JW books or games were forbidden. During assemblies, my older cousin used to make up theocratic puzzles, games and word searches for me. I must have been pretty good because I don't recall ever getting punished for not paying attention.

OK EVERYONE.... WHEN DO YOU HANG YOUR CHRISTMAS LIGHTS???
by Lady Liberty inhello again.... ok..i have the christmas bug already, and am wondering when everyone actually puts up all the clips and hang their lights?
i understand traditionally lights go on the day after thanksgiving...right?
so...my question is do you start that day or weeks before so you can sit back and enjoy the lights getting flipped on the day after thanksgiving??

The first year I celebrated I put the Christmas tree and lights up after Thanksgiving. Last year, I put them up right after Halloween. Why go through all the trouble just to have them up for a couple weeks? I had quite a display. An outdoor Christmas tree with lighted presents around it, two animated reindeer, the driveway was lined in candy canes and big lighted snowflakes hanging in all the trees. The JWs must have really enjoyed it because they kept driving by real slow. ;)
I put my Jack-o-Lanterns up right after Canadian Thanksgiving (Oct. 8). I'm really excited because I live in a big subdivision and the neighbours told me that they had over 200 kids last year. We used to live in the boonies and hardly had any Trick-or-Treaters. We even went out and got our puppy a witches costume so she can help hand out the candy. -
