dear everyone, my dad died suddenly and unexpectedly at the weekend.he did'nt turn up for a family dinner and my husband and i went to see if he was ok.he was dead.collapsed in his home.i can't stop shaking and i feel really sick.i've lost my mum and now my dad too.i wish i could sleep for months and wake when the pain has finished with me.
it hurts so much .sorry to bring everyone down-but i'm stressed at having to sort out his arrangements due to the autopsy and funeral etc and the house and my feelings.
; i just wanted to tell you all as my husband's gone for a walk and the children are asleep and i'm feeling scared about viewing his body, but i know i'll have to and i feel guilty for feeling like that.stupid thoughts racing through my mind at the moment-need to 'hear' a friendly voice .

I wonder if it is so necessary to view the body. I chose not to see my bro-in-laws body recently (I know that is a lot different than a parent) I wanted to remember him the way I had last seen him.

The Watchtower doesn't really teach lies. Their "current understanding" or, "present truth", just changes from day to day.

are contemporary decendents of black slaves in the united states justified in asking for monetary reparation for their ancestors' bondage?

Sorry meadow77, I was kinda joking myself. However, I do think we have gone way to far in all of the PC names that are used today. If native American is now the accepted term, for what was once Indians, can the sport teams now keep their names without being harrassed by the PC crowd? like Cleveland Indians etc?
I didn't mean to offend anyone, but I think until we can discuss race openly without being offended, or silenced, we will not really make progress in this country. There are more sides to the whole race, minority, etc. issue than is acceptable to discuss. I think many problems, or complaints, are discussed within different race groups, but will not be discussed openly between people of different races.
I think a lot of anger can be, and is, built up because of special treatment for some to the injury of others. Practicing discrimination in the pretense of correcting discrimination is not only harmful, but causes great anger and hatred.

How many generations do we have to go back to be called "native American"? My family goes back several generations in this country, can I be native American? My father's mother was full blooded Cherokee, do I qualify to be native American by that? My grandparents on my mothers side were mostly English, am I native English? or, do I just have to claim that I am native Earthling?

when i was loyal jw my favorite book was the "commentary on the letter of james".
only later i heard that it was written by someone who later became "apostate".

That book is the foundation for the current Bible Dictionary and major reference tool "Insight on the Scripures" .Much of the text is a straight lift from the "Aid Book"
I think the only reason they came out with the "Insight" books was to, somewhat, remove the Ray Franz connection.

I agree with what everyone has already said.
I was remembering back, to the first time I met you, at that retreat in Atlanta GA. As my two sons-in-law and I entered the front door of the retreat and slowly went into the lobby area, a little hesitant because we were about to meet some apostates, (we were just fresh out of the WT) you came sweeping through the lobby announcing (loudly) "Isn't it great to be free? now we can love everybody! even homosexuals!"
We looked at each other and someone commented, "who is this crazy lady?"
That was our introduction to the wonderful world of apostasy, it has only gotten more and more wonderful, and YOU played a BIG part in that process. It was YOU that insisted that we go to Pennsylvania (isn't there something about Pennsylvania, somewhere in the back of my mind, from long ago?) sorry, my mind drifts, and it was YOU that welcomed us so lovingly when we arrived at the convention. You are and have always been very special to Marv, Jan, and I, and now you are also very special to Allen.

how many of you on this forum were born into the jw faith?
do you think this put you at a disadvantage when leaving the org.
do you think that someone who becomes a witness later in life would have an easier time adjusting back to a "normal" life?

I was born into the JWs. I think it may be harder for the ones born into it. I never knew any other information on beliefs, other than what the WT told us others believed. When I left the WT, I didn't think I would ever believe the way "babylon the great" believed, or go to a church.
I do, now believe the way Christians all over the world believe.

so, in my brother's view i am either spiritually dead or the next thing to it.
