  Another JW Bro-in-law dies

  i am posting this because i think some of you know this man.

  i got a phone call at about 11:00 last night (monday) informing me that he had died sunday and had been cremated.

  his name is dominick marino, he had also been an elder for about 50 years.

  I am posting this because I think some of you know this man. I got a phone call at about 11:00 last night (Monday) informing me that he had died Sunday and had been cremated.

  His name is Dominick Marino, he had also been an elder for about 50 years. They live in the Florence/Erlanger Kentucky area. There is to be a memorial talk/WT commercial this Saturday at the Erlanger KY kingdom hall, I will not be going.

  Some of you might remember I had mentioned in a post about a year ago that Fred Franz used to stay at my sisters house when he was in that area. This is the sister/bro-in-law.

  could someone please help me with the wt article where they say that you do not even have to speak to others about the things with which you don't agree with the society to be dfd.

  just the fact that you believe differently can get you zapped.

  need the info to help wavering friend.

  Recovering from shunning

  how does one recover from being shunned?

  my family is shunning me.

  so is everyone i grew up with since i was raised in the borg.

  Elsewhere,

  I would recommend that you find an ex-jw support group in your area, it helps to talk about it with others who have the same experiences, like on this board.

  If you are not interested in the Christian part of the groups, just tell them up front, and I think they will respect your wishes, and still welcome you into their group.

  i am following the sci-fi channel presentaion of steven spielbergs taken .

  i tell you what this is one cool mini series .anyone here claim to be abducted ?they say the show is based on accounts reported by people claiming to be taken .

  personally i don't believe in flying saucers and little green men but i love science fiction .any thoughts on this?

  1950 s when they aired the presentation of war of the worlds and people went nuts

  I didn't see anyone going nuts, I remember those years as being pretty good years.

  Do You Ever Miss It?

  i was in a hormonal state the last couple of days, feeling a little melancholy.....sometimes when i feel like this, i miss being a jw.

  don't get me wrong, i have not intention of ever going back.

  i've come to realize what i miss is the naivety, the black & white thinking, allowing the organization to pretty much guide my every thought.

  I agree with you.

  I do not miss the meetings, we have much better ones, when we want them, they are called support group meetings.

  I do not miss the assemblies or conventions, we have MUCH better ones.

  I do not miss the spirituality, it never existed there. Now I have the real thing.

  I do not miss the worship we gave to God at the meetings,... Oh, I guess we didn't do that after all. Never mind.

  After years of being treated so coldly by my family, I guess I am getting over missing them. I want the best for them, and that would mean they will have to leave the cult.

  I guess I don't miss anything of the Watchtower organization anymore, thank God.

  " as if i abandoned god.

  Hi sunshineToo,

  Usually I answer about the same as you say you do. If it is a quick, snide remark, I will say no, I have not left God, I have left a destructive cult.

  If they are really interested, and wish to give me time for a clear answer, I tell them that I am now closer to God and Jesus Christ than I have ever been in my life. I tell them that I spend much more time in ministry than I ever did as a JW, but, this time I enjoy it.

  I have told two or three of my JW relatives that, and their remark was, "I know" one of them then went on to say "and why is that" I gave my answer.

  this is a picture of a new kingdom hall from a post several months ago.

  i was looking at the entryway and noticed two chairs by the door and thought it was a strange place for two chairs.

  are these chairs put there for the use of the "ancient prophets of old" if they should visit the kh?

  I think the chairs are for the Son and The Holy Spirit, only The Father can be honored in the auditorium.
