  Father told me about the elders school a couple years ago about this topic.

  because my now ex wife was molested by her dad back in the 60's (while he was an elder), my dad and i were talking when he got back about how the issue of molestation was heavily discussed.

  he also tol dme that the society's stand on it had always been that of that it must be reported to the athorities.

  that there had been a problem for too long of local elders being the ones to sweep it under the carpet, to protect a friend.

  Special Pioneer Aunt in Hospital

  i just got back from sc and had a message on my answering machine about my aunt being in the hospital.

  the jw that called said she asked to see me.

  i went by to see my aunt and she told me i was her favorite nephew and she really seemed to appreciate my visit.

  The magazines...

  a friend of mine who is disfellowshipped wonders whether it is wtbts policy to let him have the magazines still and frankly, i can't remember.

  i told him that i believe it is their policy not to let him have the mags, but i'm not actually that sure.

  Back when I was accounts servant and did the subscriptions as well, we had a disfellowhipped lady that I dealt with a lot. I did not know if I was supposed to help her or send her to an elder. The po not only told me to help her myself, he encouraged me to be especially kind and helpful.

  i dont't know------------------ but it could be the sister of my old pioneer partner.

  she got poped 7 times---------------------and keep caming back for more.. the problem was she liked to have sex.

  since she was crazy, no one would marry her, and she could marry only in the lord, of course.

  One situation that I was aware... an unbelieving husband who had studied a lot and was viewed as associated with the cong in the small town where he lived, molested his teen age daughter while his wife was at Pio School. The daughter, whom I was quite close to even though I was a couple of years younger than her, called a trusted older sister and told her. The sister told her not to say anything to anybody. The older sister called the elders. They also told the girl to not say anything to anybody, esp not at school. Eventually one of the elders, who was at Pio school with the mom, said it had to be reported, that Oklahoma law required it. This was in 1988. The catcher was that it was reported to a social worker that happened to be an elder. He "investigated" it. Talked to the girl and her mom, but not her dad. He reasoned with the mom that turning in the husband would leave her and her children unprovided for and his reputation and the girls' reputation would both be ruined. Of course, he also mentioned that it would cast a bad light on the congregation.

  The girl is no longer a Witness. The mom is inactive. The social worker/ elder is now neither an elder or employed with DHS. He runs a funeral home now.

  But the point is that the elder, John L, knew it was required to report, so he did...but he still found a way to get around it...despicable

  blondie posted a link to a short bio on the gb members and i noticed something i hadnt seen before.

  these guys all have to be of the 'annointed' but jws say the calling to be of this class ended in 1935. whats with these very young new members?.

  guy pierce-- 1934-- less than a year old- infant baptism?.

  We had a CO, Jones, that was of the anointed. He was not that old. Maybe around 60 in 1990...but he had only been baptized sine the late 60s. I always thought that was strange and wondered why he got chosen when some very faithfull witnesses I knew who had been baptized since the 1920s and 30s were not.
