I have read a few passages of this book. I was very impressed with what I read. I did not gett he impression that this was a case of witness bashing.

I have heard this Theocratic Warfare strategy as well, along with the reasoning that some people do not deserve to know the truth. It was always in reference to times of persecution. It also made me very uncomfortable...seemed like a cop out. And, of course, I would not be a bit surprised if it was used in conjunction with the child abuse policy.

Do You Know Of Malcontent ExJWs That Bitch About Life Because.....?
by minimus inthey were jws and blame everything on their jw past???
i know of people that never tried to get ahead or prosper themselves because they were witnesses.
never bought a house or a brand new car because they would rather rent and drive around in a jalopy that would break down.

I carry around some baggage because of it...but I picked up some good traits because of it too. Ultimately life is what you make of it now.

Community Service and the JW's
by startingover ina florists went to a barbershop for a haircut and went to pay the barber when he was done.
the barber thought that was very nice.
later that afternoon a cop came in for a haircut when he was finished he went to pay the barber but again the barber said he couldn't accept payment since he was doing community service.

In our cong, if a pioneer did something for you, you had to pay them. If you did something for them, it was jsut helping them out for nothing in return/

Southeastern Oklahoma's mountains
by Junction-Guy inin the southeastern section of oklahoma there lies the ouachita mountains and the winding stair mountains, these mountains are absolutely gorgeous and basically undisovered to the tourist crowds.
there is a 54 mile road called the talimena scenic drive and it follows the mountaintop and has numerous overlookswe drove through there last year on the way back from the dallas apostafest, and were really impressed.
this year we will try drive through there again.

Ahhh, Beavers Bend...I've enjoyed many hours of fine Christian fellowship there. It is a very nice area. SO cool to see that there are several people on here that have ties to SE OK.
Yes, I grew up in Valliant. None of my fam is associated with congs in SE OK now. My mom is in Durant and attends assemblies In McAletser, though.

Ironic placement of the Awake magazine on "True Friends"
by AlmostAtheist ini forget the date, but it was a within-the-past-year awake that had a series of articles on making true friends.
i posted about it when i read it because it was so hypocritical.
the mag said that true friends appreciate each other's differences, stick by each other thru disagreements, are loyal and supportive.

One Elder's wife said we could not listen to "Walk Like an Egyptian". As she said "WHy would you want to walk like an Egyptian, they were enemies of God's people?" It was so stupid. Even my ultra strict mom said that was just stupid. BUt I also LUV LUV LUV The Bangles..gawd I'm so gay...
