HOW WOULD A WITNESS ANSWER THIS?

i thought of a question i'd like to ask my sister-in-law (who's a fanatical dub).

i'd like to say to her: "...if it could be proven to you beyond any doubt that this was not the "one true religion", would you still go to the kingdom hall?...

i figure it's a catch-22 that really ought to make them stop and think.

Youngest Known Disfellowshipping?

hey guys ... what the youngest known case of disfellowshipping?

that is just plain sick, to disfellowship children. i could see that one day some kid disfellowshipped will go nuts and try to blow up a kingdom hall or something. some poor kid screws up and makes a mistake, god forbid a child makes a mistake and then is shunned by everyone, that is mentally damaging at least.makes me so madi remember the last convention my family and i attended, mostly to shut up our families, i was literally sick when i heard the talk on baptism, the speaker actually asked "young people, if you are between the ages of 12 and 19 why are you not baptized? if you are between the ages of 7 and 12 are you considering baptisim? I wanted to stand up and scream, WTF, Jesus was in his 30's you moron! They pressure kids to get baptised to up their numbers and then punish them with judical committees for being young and foolish. God, you cannot even grow up and learn from your mistakes normally. Can you tell this makes me livid?mama

just read a thread about a child born with two heads and read some, well meaning but disturbing posts... .

here is the question: .

you and your spouse are expecting...a test is available that will reveal if your unborn child may have a physical disability... .

well, i don't know what i would do in that type of situation because i have never been there, I was very lucky to have two beautiful healthy babies but i have an aunt that was given an amniosystesis for her unborn son and was told to abort. Being a devout dub she wouldn't and couldn't do that. My cousin was born with a condition called hyperlexia, a form of autisum (not sure if i spelt that right). He is now 14years old and in high school. Something I don't think many professionals thought was possible. He has a teacher's aide to assist him but still he is in regular high school. But the toll on my aunt is obvious. She was late in life having him and I know she loves him very much but her golden years will be spent caring for him. She has spent inumerable hours helping him to be as productive as possible. I have so much respect for her as a person. Will he ever be independant? I don't know. I would think it isn't likely since he plays with my daughter when she comes to visit quite well, she is 6. I also have another aunt who had her daughter damaged at birth with foreceps, the result was mild brain damage, epilepsy, cerebral palsy etc. Although she is semi-independant (she lives in an apartment in their basement) she will never be completely independant. For me the real ethical question is if you know you will have a child that will be largely or completely dependant on you for their entire life, how do you deal with the fact that you are bringing a child into the world that will need such care when you have no idea of what the future holds for you? What if you become ill and cannot care for this child properly? What if you die unexpectly? When your child is an adult and you have cared for them their entire life, how will they cope with your death? For me seeing my aunts and uncles getting older with children with special needs is something I think about often. Who is going to care for them when they are gone? I think that if you know you have a child coming with possible disabilities you have to ask yourself these questions. I cannot say what is the right decision, I have seen the positive and the negative side of this issue.

Need prayers for my sister...she just got DF'd

i'm really concerned for my sister and her husband.

they both got df'd last thurs.

and i found out today cause my mom called crying histerically telling me the news.

I just said a prayer for you and your sister, I hope it helps. Also for her husband to realize that he's in a cult. It is heartwrenching to think that those modern day pharisees could do that to a disabled person and be so cruel to say that she's now free to do all the bad things she wants. Hmm, do you think Jesus would have treated them this way? HELL NO! It is the most unchristlike religion, er, cult out there. I only hope those pricks get theirs. Your sister is really going to need your help and support now. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope the future brings better things.mama

i have always been somewhat surprised at the quality of them - i have seen children's books with more compelling and moving pictures (the enormous turnip brings tears to my eyes) - i know i'm being critical but its almost bedtime and i can't help it hehe.

Are you Living or Existing?

does your life have a purpose or are you just existing?

over the years i've learned to extract the good out of bad situations and it has given me a different perspective on life.

life is all about learning.

I used to just exist, when i was a witness, now I live. I enjoy everyday, I get so excited at the holidays, like a little kid because for me its like I have gotten a new life. I am trying hard to develop new friendships but that part is hard, I am lucky in my opinion to have one true friend cause when I was a witness I don't think I knew what that was. I used to be jealous of ppl at school who were friends from childhood because all the witness kids I knew weren't very loyal friends. But now, I am not jealous, I am grateful that I finally woke up and have the chance to make deep friendships and that my kids are developing such friendships. For me I think the key to living instead of existing came with the realization that its ok to enjoy life here and now instead of existing for some promised perfect future. Most witnesses I knew and still know aren't happy ppl. They are just anxiously pasting the time until the "paradise" being completely unfufilled in the meantime. I cannot count the many times I have heard a witness say (probably said it myself, in the past), sigh " i can't wait till the new system". I thinking that is existing not living.

so how's things?

been really humid in new south these past few days with afternoon storms.

right now the refreshing rain is falling and mrs ozzie and i are enjoying a(nother) box of ferrero rocher chocs.

#2 thru to 9, also 10. other- my biggest doubt came with the question no witness had a really good answer for: if all us unanointed don't get to go to heaven and only have a earthly hope, then why did Jesus tell the man being staked up beside him, "i tell you this day you will be with me in paradise"? No witness could give me an answer to this question that satisifed my mind. I mean, this guy wasn't a disciple, he was being murdered for whatever crimes he committed and Jesus told him he would be with him in paradise that day. Yet all I asked said well Jesus was referring to the last day, I asked show me where it says that, nobody could. I was told I wasn't thinking properly and was nitpicking, that I should rely on Jehovah for such matters. So then I asked how can the elder bodies be accepted as having holy spirit when the society itself says that one wrongdoer can take Jehovah's spirit from a hall? Or if one elder on a committee is doing something wrong then does the committee have God's spirit or not? Some concided that this could happen but said even if it does that Jehovah will straighten it all out in time. Too bad for those caught in the crossfire. It was just the straw that broke the camel's back. I realized they would and could justify whatever they wanted if you let them think for you. That was the beginning of the end for me.
