Why don't you just keep more expensive kitty litter. Something with "odour-blocking crystals" or some other crap like that.

In other cultures and languages, "Christmas" is better known as "The Nativity of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ," or simply "the Nativity."
Likewise, "Easter" is known as "the Pasch" in other countries.

Jesus did not intend for us to do that.
Defd,
If you look at the Didache, written by early Christians around 100 A.D., it tells us that the early Christians prayed the Our Father three times a day.
If Jesus did not intend for us to do that, why would he give us a pre-made prayer written by the Son Himself?

Where to find the "complete" bible
by sinis ini have been looking at some different sites and doing my own research regarding the modern day bible.
it becomes appearent that the catholic church had a huge say in what cannons were adopted and the ones which were not.
does anyone know where i can get a bible that would include the original texts that the jews considered to be sacred?

I have been looking at some different sites and doing my own research regarding the modern day bible. It becomes appearent that the Catholic church had a huge say in what cannons were adopted and the ones which were not. Does anyone know where I can get a bible that would include the original texts that the Jews considered to be sacred? I understand that it may include such books as macabees, etc. Thanks.
The Jews, at least the Pharisees, did not close the canon until 90 A.D. at the so-called "Council" of Jamnia. This forms the modern Protestant canon. The Hellenistic Jews had a much wider canon and it was more fluid. Other Jewish sects only accepted the Pentateuch. In the Dead Sea Scrolls found at Qumran, we see books in Hebrew that the Protestants consider apocryphal, such as Tobit among other things. Since there are many different sects, it's impossible to say what the Jewish religion, as a whole, considered sacred. The early Christians considered the Septuagint to be an almost inspired translation and they accepted most of the books in it: of course, there were some small differences between East and West, since the East accepts 3 Maccabees and Psalm 151 among other things. It must be said, though, that the Early Christians never followed the rulings on the canon in Jamnia. The Bible I would recommend is the Revised Standard Version -- With Apocrypha. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0195283481/qid=1124744094/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/104-4774557-7759103?v=glance&s=books

They're absolutely not the same. The revised version from Exodus 34 differs substantially from the version at Exodus 20. Read them again.
I was referring to the three ones across the top: the three versions that Terry referred to in an exclamitorial manner.
The Catholics seem to have misplaced any mention of bowing down before idols. Just an oversight, you think?
Catholics consider that a violation of the first commandment; the Second Council of Nicaea assigned to sacred images the same veneration given to the Book of the Gospels, which is different from the adoration warned against in the first commandment.
Now as to the point of Exodus 34 and 20. If you notice, the Decalogue is not reproduced in Exodus 34, but there is a record and command of it's reproduction. Exodus 34:10-26 concerns religious laws and not the Decalogue. You're taking it out of context.
Hey Terry, it looks like you are so ready to smear the Bible that you didn't actually look at the text properly, nor look up Catholic theology.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail: Hilarious extras on the DVD!
by gaiagirl injust watched "monty python and the holy grail" on a two-disc dvd purchased at target.
among the numerous extras are: a very well done animated version of the "we're the knights of the round table....." vaudeville musical number using sets and characters entirely constructed from lego pieces (including the poor fellow in the dungeon, clapping his hands to the music); the scene with the french knights "taunting" the british knights, with japansese dialogue and english subtitles (the translations are hysterical), sing alongs, including the lyrics to the scene with monks chanting and smiting themselves with boards, and too much else to mention.
i haven't laughed so hard since i saw the movie the first time.

That means that you should buy two this time.
Good idea! Life of Brian was only $19, but it doesn't have any extra content (not much, at least).

Who here gives to the homeless?

Poor people in Vancouver are violent drug addicts or they have severe mental problems. If you give them money, they'll usually attack you for more.
And the government, of course, does nothing about it. They closed all the mental hospitals (except for the ones that couldn't be regulated by medication) and let all of the mental patients on the street. Everyone felt all warm and fuzzy inside, but most of these people ended up homeless and taking drugs.

The Kremlin controlls ALL of the media in Russia (virtually): all the coverage is simply propaganda, probably because the Kremlin does not like the fact that they can't be conscripted.

There's a difference in numbering, but they're still the same. And the "Catholic version" is a summary version, not meant to quote the Bible, but meant to be memorized.
It's really a non-issue, Terry.
