  How long is a cotton picking minute?

  sometimes i hear someone say: "hold on just one cotton pick'in minute....".

  i'm wondering, is a "cotten picking minute" a "bored" minute that feels like a long time or is it a "busy" minute that seems to fly by?

  Bible Study Burns Down the House...

  someone just mentioned 1978 and it reminded me that a bible study of my mothers burnt our house down while we were gone to the international convention in california.

  she robbed us blind and then toasted our house.

  do you think jehovah had a plan there and that we were being blessed for sitting something like 8 freaking days out in the sun in california?

She robbed us blind and then toasted our house. Do you think Jehovah had a plan there and that we were being blessed for sitting something like 8 freaking days out in the sun in California?

  Actually I am just wondering if any of you all have had anything so blessed happen to you for the Lords sake?

  introductions so i never said the official "hi i'm a newbie thing".

  now i'm a junior member and i thought that maybe i should speak up and just say hi to everybody out here that gave me good advice when i needed it and made me laugh in spite of things.

  hi to all that i haven't gotten a chance to talk to yet and hopefully we'll get the chance here soon.

  Why so many?

  there are so many 'used to be jw's' now i am just wondering what is causing the revolution in the organisation.

  is it due to the failed prophecies, flip flopped doctrines, changing new light or is the borg squeezing the rank and file hard enough for them to realise the truth ain't the truth?

  any thoughts on this?

  ...it is losing that faith that then makes one wonder about the doctrines..dates..un..child abuse ..etc etc etc...

  I am a very slow learner. I think it was bumping my head on the JW door one too many times that actually knocked some consciousness into my head. The hurt led me to question all I was taught. But seeing I never paid any attention to all the dates and such anyways, for me it was just the basic principals of being good human being that led me to stay away from the religious organization that holds hypocrisy up as a badge of honor and as they themselves so like to put it, "cloth themselves in a cloak of self righteousness." It amazes me now that the things taught to me as a child to look down upon others as a weakness are actually the very things I was blinded to seeing that I had learned to practice as a JW.

  adam was the progenitor of the whole human race, from his genes sprang the negroid, caucasian, mongoloid, indo-european and every other race on the planet.

  Besides, size really doesn't matter. As they say, "it is not the size of your army, but the force of the attack".

  Not so true really...IMO... I think that the statement above is one of the things that small sized boys are taught so that they do not feel so bad. It is kind of like the tale that young girls are told that "more than a mouthful is a waste," or really "it is all about what is on the inside that counts." IMO it is size and force that make a difference.

  As shallow as this may seem, I did see a news clip this morning that said that below average looking people get 9 percent less pay than average people and I think it was a 5 percent increase in pay that the "beautiful looking people" receive.

  Yes I agree that it is what is on the inside that counts, but it is a shame that MOST people do not look that deep on first glance and unfortunately, the small appendages do not make such a big impact upon entry as larger ones.

  At any rate..I do not think that Adam can be concidered black or white based on his "under the fig leaf." Based on my experience...size does not change based on color. We would have better luck figuring it out by upside/down's comment on "taking a rib from a black man"...or sixofnine's on "watermelons not growing on trees." Which were both quite funny by the way.

  i don't really care if you're a liar or a cheat or even a hottie for that matter, and if you're an alcoholic, maybe you'll work harder for beer?
