Has a song "GRABBED" at you pulling your soul in?
by FreedomFrog init doesn't happen to me much but when it does i can't get enough.... i was driving home from a friends house trying to figure out how to work out my finances/home/college/kids and then the song "eye of the tiger" came on.. i've heard this song many times.
this was one of my fave's growing up but it didn't catch my soul like it did tonight.
i was in awe to the point of needing to hear it 6 times already.

Anyway, I've been a bit down but a few parts of this song really grabbed me...the parts that effected me goes like this;
Face to face
out in the heat
hangin' tough
stayin' hungry....
the stack the odds, still we take to the street
for the kill with the skill to survive......
It's the eye of the tiger
it's the cream of the fight
risin up to the challenge of our rivals
and the last known survivor stalks his pray in the night
and he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger.....
Then the last bit of the "story" that helps me "rise up" is the following....
Risin' up
straight to the top
had the guts got the glory
went the distance now I'm not gonna stop
just a man (woman) and his (her) will to survive....
It's the eye of the tiger......
Spiritually, mentally, and physically I know what the message is (for me). I am a very spiritual (not religious) person and when things grab my attention (or soul) I listen. Tiger teaches (for me) that adventure, challenges, and changes are about to happen. Believe me, I've been under some great challenges and changes are gonna have to happen for "survival". For the moment, I'm moved by this song extremely.
Has a song "moved" you? Isn't it great? I love when this happens.

After Divorce- When Getting Into a New Relationship - Don't Just Settle !
by flipper ini think most of us will agree that after having gone through divorce - that many of us were gun shy before getting into another relationship.
and that is fine for some people who feel they just can't go " there" anymore.
that being said, there are some of us over the years who after divorcing, went through several relationships or marriages before finally getting it right some day.

In answering your topic....believe me, I won't settle...I've got a looooooooong (and it's LONG) list of what "I" want and if 3/4th of it isn't met, I'm not interested...I was married for 15 years and I will NOT settle for just "anyone". I'm considered (by the friends I have now) the "girl who won't date" but it's more like "the girl who won't "settle"".
Besides, I love being able to come and go as I please...not being b#tched at...not to hear snoring in the night....I love LOVE having room in my bed...it would have to take a very special person to cause me to get rid of those good qualities that single life brings.

Zach realized something pretty cool the other day
by AlmostAtheist inmy 9-year-old son looked at the digital clock the other day and pointed out that the digits 4, 5, and 6 have something in common not shared with the other digits.
can you guess what it is?

Your Zach is one smart kid! Have him tested at school for advanced education no matter what his grades are.
I had him tested this past year and he scored a 99 on the Stanford 10th addition testing in Science...other curriculum is high but his science knowledge was way off the charts.
Get this, Zach helps me with my college assignments sometimes and I normally will get an A on those papers, heehee...which I think is fun and interesting. He sure does have a mind that blows me away. He's in 4th grade and he will constantly ask me "mom, will you give me a very tough division problem for me to work out". They do small divisions but they are "too easy" for him.
He just went through the 3 day OAT testing and he feels he did really well, I'm excited to see his results.
(I'm so proud of my baby....had to brag just a bit more...)

How long was Jesus' (err. Jesuses, Jesusis, Jesus's) hair?
Plant a New World Translation Bible on your kid and tell him to ask for a hair length standard from the scriptures. I don't know which verse, but I'm pretty sure the standard was stated in "cubits".
Ah yeah, but this is a congregation that wouldn't allow a person to become a "non baptized publisher" because he had a beard, and this was years ago when beards were more popular... Ummm, didn't Jesus have a beard himself? Hmmm....well, whatever I guess. I will more than likely "suck it up" and go but I also know that my mom knows how to push certain buttons, especially if they are directed at my kids or about my kids...I just hope I can keep my mouth shut and not make any negative remarks.

You all have made very good points. The graduation time is around the time I have my children. I can ask my ex to take them for me for that day but he's been so busy with his job that I hate to ask him to take them that day...especially since I just asked him to take Sierra while Zach and I go camping.
Though, if I take them, I'm sure they (especially my mom) will say something to my son and upset him...he's only 9 years old. For example, they haven't seen him with long hair and I just KNOW my mom will make a stupid comment about it.
I have until the 25th to prepare myself for the "reunion". I am very proud of my brother. My mom is the one that said he was certified to be in heating and air....I haven't gotten this word from him yet and I know my mom has embellished things before. For example, she made it sound like my sister that's working for Wendy's as if she "owned" that particular Wendy's and I found out this wasn't the case. In fact, my sister makes just above min. wages.
Believe me, my ex (AlmostAtheist) knows exactly how she can stretch the truth. That's why I made the comment "whatever that means" about my brother being "certified".

Ok, my baby brother wants me to come to his graduation ceremony. From what my mom said, he really wants me there. Here's the situation so far...
I know my aunt/uncle/and cousins, along with my parents and half of my old KH that I grew up with will be there. My aunt shuns me like never before even though I'm not DF'd or DA. My own mother hasn't talked with me for...hmmm, it's been a good while. I've even left messages on her phone just to say "I love you, miss you, hope everything is ok" but with no return call.
This is the same family that didn't go to my uncle's funeral a few months back because of it being in a church...as some of you may remember me posting about.
My mother called on behalf of my brother but part of me wonders what their motivations are. I wasn't invited to my nephew's baby shower/or any other family cookouts they have.
I know that if I do go, first, I have to deal with the congregation that has been pestering my mom to get me to accept a bible study...I've avoided them. Then I'll have to deal with my aunt not to mention the cold stare downs she gives.
I want to go to support my brother but I'm sure they are going to say something hurtful that I don't want to deal with. On top of that, my brother has been talked out of going to college and so now he's (well mom actually is) proud to be "certified" heating and air...whatever that means.
My Sister is already 27 and still works at a five and dime store, and my other sister (32 yrs) who is married to a, well lets just say a guy who "says" he cant work...( trying to be nice here) She has worked and still works at Wendy's supporting her husband and 2 children. All of which will be there at the graduation.
Anyway, part of me wants to go to support my brother and part of me knows I'll be eaten alive.
If I do decide to go, any suggestions on how I should deal with the rest of my family?

Q: What happens when you block my driveway?
by Elsewhere ina: i block your car.. today i was out and about enjoying a rare day off work.
all was well and i was feeling good and having a good time... then i came home and found this grey honda parked in my driveway blocking me from parking in my garage (the one i pay $70 a month for).
ok, if asshole wants to block me, i'll block asshole.

Oh, man, I can't believe the people who are freaking out on this thread! You would have thought that Elsewhere popped this guy's tires or keyed his vehicle! ALL HE DID WAS PARK AT THE END OF HIS OWN DRIVEWAY! GET OVER IT, PEOPLE! He was even courteous enough to leave a note with an apartment at which this fool could find him! The ass who parked in HIS driveway didn't make it known where HE could be found! Shite, people, overreact much? (Elsewhere, good on you; I think this is just awesome, BTW.)
Amen to that! Else could have had his car towed and then the guy would have been without a car for a while and with a nice ticket. I have some very inconsiderate people that live in my apartment complex...it really makes me steamin' when they act as if they are the only people in here. The gal that side swiped my car knew she had damaged my car...she had to have known because it looked as if she actually drove up onto my tires because some rubber from her tires were on my bumper along with her paint and tire marks on my rims...I left a note (in a nice way) asking her to own up to it. Needless to say, she didn't so I got the police involved. I think she just thought I wouldn't have been able to prove it. She thought wrong. Anyway, I have trouble dealing with inconsiderate people...most inconsiderate people will blow up at ya if you are the least inconsiderate to them. The guy will think before pulling into someone elses obvious parking space...such as in front of a garage.
