as wonderful as the coverage was concerning abuse of children in the watchtower organization, i think most of us deep down know that it will be ignored, denied and/or described as apostate lies.. the most we can hope for is enlightenment of the general public to the fact that jw's are no different than any of the other religions they point fingers at.

it will make it more difficult to get a listening ear at the door.. the jw's exist in a very small world.

they are taught anything not coming from headquarters is basically lies.. any mistakes made were due to old light, or as i have heard from my own relatives...."well, the entire world didn't know any better so the "organization" is just catching up like everyone else.

It will make a difference to those who have suffered at the hands of elders' bad advice. I had gone to the elders many times over the years and never got any real help for my problems.

But, the first time I heard about Bill Bowen--a small article in my local paper--I started to investigate and found the silent lambs website. The fact that this has happened to so many people blew me away! I did not feel so alone anymore and realized that none of the things that happened to me were my fault! I have much more self-esteem now, but still have a long way to go to get this religion out of my life!

Die-hard, non thinking witnesses will dismiss this report as being started by apostates.

a producer with nbc in new york called within the past hour to tell me that the segment i interviewed for (once in nashville, tn in august and once in washington, dc in october) is set to air tonight on nbc nightly news with brian williams, that is, if no huge calamity takes place to bump the feature.

this piece will be two minutes and 45 seconds long, the longest slot nightly news has for topics of interest, and will feature a discussion about the court documents that are found on the cd i recently produced, "secrets of pedophilia in an american religion, jehovah's witnesses in crisis.

in addition, nbc's internet site, msn, will follow with a detailed story.

Jehovah's Witnesses are not a cult and here's why I think so

when most people think of "cult" they think of the people's temple, the branch davidians, or heaven's gate.

many also want to put jehovah's witnesses, mormons, and scientologists into this group.

i don't agree with that because there is one main difference between true cults and high-control groups like jws:.

I think they can loosely be called a cult. Look at the connotation they give to the term "apostate"--I really like the term that Gill used---MENTAL PRISON--I think that's a PERFECT description!

Just informed the sisters at my door.

well it's a beauutiful day and it got better in the last hour .. two sisters and a daughter came to our door witnessing and after what i told them i think they are very thankful.. they first spoke to my wife and she told them why she is da'd over the societys stand on them protecting pedophiles ,but she had to go shopping and left me with it.. we had a meaningful discussion and i was able to enlighten them on the facts of the society and the recent cases settled in court in america ,and of course they did'nt know about it .

it came out that they both had observed the society hiding things and especially the pedophiles in the congos.. well then i explained that at least one is in their congregation and one sister said she knew of the same one because an elder had told her to watch out for him because he was seen touching and loitering around one of her children .

well i said that's pretty terrible that a pedophile has to touch your child before an elder will warn you of the pedophile 's history.. then the other sister who is a newly baptised witness asked the other sister why she had'nt warned her too.

Let's hope those two sisters like to talk and they warn others! 'Cause if they talk to their elders first, they will be told to keep quiet on the matter. Could even be threatened with df'ing.
